I remember watching a documentary a few years ago about her and she was talking about how when she was touring so much about 10 years ago she was unable to keep any weight on because of how much rehearsal she did every day for her shows, and then for the actual shows. I guess she was burning several thousand calories a day doing it, but everyone thought she was anorexic. Maybe she kept eating like she did back then, but she wasn't doing her shows so that weight caught up with her.
