They were and still are. Hopefully this ends up being amazing and successful so lead the revolution. (I know there are those indie titles but they aren't doing much right now)

I cannot wait, and hope this reignites the genre along with a hopeful Banjo announcement at E3, and a revival of Crash in the future.

Oh god, I'd be in heaven for a successor to that. I heard the Rayman show was by the same folks, but didn't really seem all that similar though, also it only had 4 episodes.

We are still waiting on the big 3d mario game in the vein of 64, sunshine and Galaxy. 3d world is just 2d gameplay based (complete with timed levels and jumping on the flag pole at the end) on a small 3d plane. 3d world doesn't allow you to easily explore compared to previous 3d Mario.
It seems Nintendo is just wanting to do 2d Platformers as shown with donkey kong, Kirby and Yoshi.
