Edit: PS3/PS4 is understandable since Japan (Tales Of's main fanbase) hasn't fully transited over to the PS4, while PS4 version would go some way in convincing some Japanese players to jump ship/works out for Bandai Namco in the West since there's a high PS4 adoption rate. Win win.

Why does it matter that it's cross-gen, it's not as if the Tales games are all that ambitious in game design or graphical prowess that they'll benefit from the extra horse power in a tangible way.

But I guess nobody should blame them. One look at the Media Create thread and you'd know why they aren't abandoning PS3.

I don't think Bandai Namco is ready to abandon PS3 yet. That would be an insane risk for a franchise where localizations aren't even a given when planning.
