Vampyr is set in early 20th century Britain as the country is gripped by the lethal Spanish flu and the streets of London are crippled by disease, violence and fear. In a disorganized and ghostly city, those foolish, desperate, or unlucky enough to walk the streets lay prey to Britain’s most elusive predators: the vampires. Emerging from the chaos, a tormented figure awakens. You are Jonathan E. Reid, a high-ranking military surgeon transformed into a vampire upon his return home from the frontline.

Explore the darkly atmospheric streets of early 20th century London, and interact with a multitude of characters with their own identities and importance. Accept and fulfill the missions they give you, but don’t forget: sooner or later, you will have to feed, and make a difficult choice... who will be your prey? Absolutely all characters in the game are potential victims of your vampiric lust. Carefully study the habits of your next victim, his or her relationships with other characters, and set up your strategy to feed, unnoticed: seduce them, change their daily habits, or make sure they end up alone in a dark street…

Be careful who you choose to hunt, as they will be gone forever, and their death will impact in a meaningful way the world that surrounds you. Feeding on human blood will not just keep you "alive"; it will also unlock new vampiric powers to use.

There will be times when exploration and seduction will only get you so far, and you'll need to resort to engaging in Vampyr's dynamic real-time combat. It blends hard-hitting melee combat with ranged shooting mechanics and the supernatural vampire powers. You'll face many types of enemies: different species of vampires and creatures, as well as vampire hunters who want to hunt you down with their weapons, tools and traps. In Vampyr, your health and the "energy" that drives your supernatural powers are one and same! Using powers will drain your own blood, giving you an edge in battle but also leaving you weaker. You will have to find a way to feed during combat to replenish your strength.

Vampyr also offers a deep crafting system. Find and loot materials and components from the fresh corpses of your victims or during exploration, in order to craft and improve tools, melee and ranged weapons, as well as special ammunitions and coating to exploit the weaknesses of your enemies.

As you cling to what remains of your humanity, your decisions will ultimately shape the fate of your hero while searching for answers in the coughing, foggy aftermath of the Spanish Flu.

Release Date: 2017 on PS4, Xbox One and PC

Looks nice. Is this similar to Life Is Strange gameplay wise?

Edit: Reading the updated OP the game sounds like it could be pretty cool. From what I understand the combat in Remember Me was the worst part though. Phone up your old buddies at Capcom. Get Itsuno on the case.

Part of me is excited for this thanks to Life Is Strange.
Another part of me is afraid of this because of Remember Me.

I hope the studio will stay focused on what is possible to do well within their abilities and staff for this game, as the setting seems interesting.

Is this an adventure game like Life is Strange or a 3rd person action game like Remember Me?

Imho they should steer clear of action and focus on their strength of world building

This dev is definitely on my radar after Life is strange. Will check this one out. What genre is this?

Same boat.
Studio is a wildcard atm.

Dontnod has the strange ability of picking the most boring and generic titles ever for their games, but if this is half as good as LiS then I'm in.

You crazy man Episode 5 was awesome due to is insanity and (SPOILERS)
how it depicted breaking the time flow and all the puzzles with Max in the black room.

Granted, the binary ending choice was kind of shitty (even predictable) considering all the choices we made until then. Still. One of the best experiences for me.

I was expecting LiS-type graphics so I'm really impressed with the visuals in these screens. I don't quite understand the hate for Remember Me. I mean, it wasn't the best game ever but it certainly wasn't bad.

Dontnod have previously demonstrated that they have a good eye for visual style, these screens only continue the trend.

I'm definitely in a small minority of people that liked Remember Me; it's not without its faults, but it holds a special place in my heart.

I know I'm probably gonna cave and buy the game regardless of how good it is, but I'm patiently waiting for gameplay footage before my hype really gets going

The synopsis makes the gameplay sound like a bit of a blend between Remember Me and Life is Strange with some more traditional RPG elements mixed in. Melee combat, interactive/branching story with moral choices and crafting/skill systems. Doesn't sound bad (though I'm not entirely sold on the gameplay just from the description). The text does mention seducing characters to make them your victim. I hope we'll be able to seduce male characters, too, not just female characters, considering there already were some light homoromantic undertones in LiS.

Whatever your opinion of Dontnod, they are extremely talented at environmental detail. This is part of the reason Life is Strange worked so well.

Everything in that game except for the aesthetic was the worst part in that game. It's a legitimately bad game.

I've got high hopes for this. I get the vibe they knew what they were doing with Remember Me, but didn't have the budget/scope to pull it off.

With Life Is Strange being a total classic and a well-selling game, I really hope they can nail this one, balls-to-the-wall.

Edit: love the risk/reward concept of killing important characters to get better powers, but their absence potentially impacting the story/outcome. Great idea.

I'm not a fan of these types of games "telltale, what LiS appears to be" but this one caught my attention.

Particularly this:
who will be your prey? Absolutely all characters in the game are potential victims of your vampiric lust.

This thread also reminded me that I bought a Criterion disc of the movie after it was revealed and I still haven't watched it yet. I figured out what I'm doing today...

The idea of having to choose different characters in the game to feed on, and that in turn affecting the story is brilliant. Life is Strange was my GOTY so this is definitely on my radar.

My main worry after playing LIS would be that the dialogue/facial animation would ruin any atmosphere they've built up. They can't really get away with the slightly awkward VO that they had in that game if they're trying to capture Victorian London.

This sounds like they took what they did in Life Is Strange but a bit different. I imagine there's going to be scenes that are more gut-wrenching than
deciding to kill Chloe or keep her alive.

Can't wait honestly.

These are awesome news, both are titles that are high on my anticipation list, Vampyr being 2nd behind The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine. The idea of playing as a Vampire after so long is sending chills down my spine, I miss the good old days of Legacy of Kain.

I can't wait to see more of The Surge as well, It was going in a very exotic direction.

Facial animation was fine in Remember Me tho. LiS situation was budget wise and I believe also time limitations.

This actually looks awesome, love the lighting and the textures in these pics, and it all feels atmospheric. Hopefully i have the same impression with gameplay.

I mean Remember Me was bad, but Life is Strange was amazing. It does sound interesting . DontNod is batting .500. I'll keep my eye on this one.

Count me in. I enjoyed LiS and Remember me did a lot more right than wrong when I played it after LiS so I will definitely give this a shot. Only wish is that it wasn't so far away.

Screens look pretty good despite CA, hopefully writing and musics aren't as terrible and cringeworthy as they were in Life is Strange.

The screens look nice but don't say much. This game will either leave Dontnod as a one hit wonder or a studio to seriously look out for in the future. Either way I'm happy they got another shot at a more systemically complex game despite RM's general shittiness instead of just turning into another Telltale-ish cinematic adventure factory after LIS's success.
