In the fashion of the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 threads, the focus of this thread is to share and discuss promising video game projects seeking funding through Kickstarter (and Indiegogo and other crowdfunding sites).

From the success of Psychonauts 2 and the charming adventures of Knights and Bikes to Inner Chains' fast-paced action and Copper Dreams' cyberpunk strategy. crowdfunding in 2016 was as usual a diverse and varied lot. CRPGs, immersive sims, point-n-clocks, shooters, survival games, and much more were all represented.

Here were some of 2016's most interesting campaigns:

This OP and thread won't cover every campaign, but mainly the ones that are noted within its pages as well others that I might learn about.

Antigraviator - €30,000 goal, ends 5/30 (PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One)

At its core Antigraviator is a futuristic racing game in the likes of Wipeout, F-zero, Redout and Fast Racing Neo/RMX. However, we do add a twist, players are able to trigger traps. These traps range from hover mines popping out of the ground, boulders breaking of rocks, tunnels collapsing to missiles fired from rocket launchers along the track.

Exo One - $35,000 goal, ends 5/30 (PC)

EXO ONE is a surreal, momentum-based, exoplanetary exploration game
Players pilot an alien craft capable of manipulating the laws of gravity. Use a combination of gravity manipulation mechanics, rolling and gliding to build momentum and soar across a wide array of exoplanets. Follow the story of mankind's first, ill-fated mission outside the solar system.

Ashes of Creation - $750,000 goal, ends 6/2 (PC)

Choosing your class, race and gear is a good start, but while most MMOs stop there, Ashes of Creation is just getting started. All of civilization is the responsibility of our players, and how that civilization evolves comes down to what our players decide. If you want a city, or marketplaces or the comfort of your own home, it's up to you to build it. If a city is encroaching on your territory, it's up to you to destroy it.

CHANGE is an emotional homeless survival experience set in a randomly generated city with rogue-like elements, from the creators of the award winning PONCHO

Spend your days adventuring, farming the land while raising your family, or even running your own tavern, apothecary, blacksmiths or goods store.

Phoenix Point is the new strategy game from the creator of the original X-COM series. It features turn based tactics and world based strategy in a fight against a terrifying, alien menace.

Sons of the Void - €45,000 goal, ends 6/8 (PC, Mac, Linux)

Sons of the Void is a dungeon crawler where you control a three-member squad in order to explore, shoot, get juicy loot and save the universe from an imminent destruction.
You are part of the Sons of the Void Society, a group of Void worshippers united by a leader, The Nomad, who is nothing else but a mere vassal of The Void, an ancient monolith with uncertain, but impressive powers

The Salt Fortress - €5,000 goal, ends 6/14 (PC)

The Salt Fortress is a grim and mysterious video game combining point-and-click exploration and turn-by-turn combat, set in an unholy cathedral filled with secrets and in which dwell nightmarish entities. The game is centred on its atmosphere, visual narration and mystery.

Project Rap Rabbit - £855,000 goal, ends 6/19 (PC, PS4)

An explosive mix of Japanese folklore and traditional artwork, hip hop and humorous battle rap face-offs inspired by the Epic Rap Battles Of History YouTube series, Project Rap Rabbit (working title) is the next major game from the creators of PaRappa The Rapper, Vib-Ribbon, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, Elite Beat Agents and Gitaroo Man.

Blasphemous - $50,000 goal, ends 6/21 (PC, Mac, Linux)

Do you happen to know the latest status on that crowdfunded game called "THe Devil Inside" or something? I remember you had a sword and a gun and there were segments where you'd drive a car around in a desert.

Edit: Found it! It's called Little Devil Inside. Looks to be making progress, albeit slow.

The Pedestrian - January 17th

A 2.5D puzzle platformer where the player travels through the public sign system as the bathroom symbol. Not only can the player move from sign to sign, but also rearrange and reconnect the signs.

A demo, which brilliantly conveys how the simple concept is expanded upon, is available on itch.io.

Did I read somewhere that if you backed during the first 24h you would also get a copy of Jotun? Maybe I'm wrong but I think it was in last weeks Kickstarter email.

Oldschool CRPG. This one is a pretty safe bet, the game is almost done, they just need some funds to finish up the polishing and paying their voice actors.

EDIT: Actually looking closer, they've ripped spell icons from other games, which isn't kosher.
