Ok GAffers,

We had 2 big threads that were closed yesterday by moderation. I understand that we don't want to spam the forum with anxiety and a bunch of messages, but I guess that is inevitable based on how desirable the item is.

The mod closed the thread and said to only post threads when the item is back in stock. HOwever, this will create a bunch of unnecessary threads where the link is posted and the product is out of stock within minutes.

The item was OOS within minutes, and now people hijacked it posting other links from other vendors.

I please urge the moderation to just let this thread open, so we can post everything related to SNES classic in one place, it will be better for everyone to track down the deals, and less crowded front page with multiple threads about stock situation

If the neogaf disagrees with me, that is fine, you can close this thread, but please don't ban me, I am just trying to help everybody. Again, I am sorry.

Honestly, I don't see the need to remove a thread like this as it posts very valuable information that's also very time critical.

This is the same exact thread the mods closed twice already.

Making a new thread for new news is how everything is done on here, it isnt just a new rule for snes classic.

Yeah, I think we should consolidate all the discussion in this thread rather than seeing a regional thread for each preorder when they go up and get sold through.

Is it pretty much commonly accepted that any store that opens preorders now is just testing waters and has no clue what kind of stock they're going to see?

IMO it would be better to post a new thread as soon as pre-orders go up. If there's an existing thread about this already you wouldn't really notice when pre-orders do go up, unless you keep refreshing that thread. I do agree that there should still be a topic where the SNES Classic itself can be discussed. I was kinda bummed out when the other one got closed.

I hope this stays open. I've felt way out of the loop since the megathread was closed. It's much easier to just F5 this thread than it is to keep checking Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart

You are essentially arguing against the rules of NeoGAF... And how is a mega thread moving at 2 pages a minute useful but single threads warning of nee preorders going up is not?

Personally I think it makes sense to have a thread like this open. Otherwise, talk and speculation over pre-orders are going to spill into any SNES Classic thread that happens to be on the front page.

This gives everyone a resource when they want it, an outlet to talk when they need it, and an OP with relevant links when the product actually does go up for pre-order as opposed to a cluster-fuck of threads all being made at once when that happens, with little to no info and pages of rage from those who showed up too late.

Edit: This sounds too snarky, and it is intended to be snarky, but I just found it hilarious that two threads went up within a minute or two of each other.

Because people tend not to make new threads as readily as they make posts. Everyone who used the old thread found it useful.

I just checked my phone and this is the first I even heard of pre-orders opening for North America. I am fucked. I can already see myself frantically struggling to buy one of these things.

Edit: good, they actually haven't, I'm just an idiot who panicked at broken links

I'm not sure what this solves. This was the point of the last thread that was locked and all it was was 500 pages of people asking "ARE US PREORDERZ UP YET?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?" or posting about stuff that had nothing to do with anything. Seeing thread constantly at the top of the page but is never about the preorders the thread is supposed to be about is equally as pointless.

I know Nintendo is trying to push their virtual console by having this, and the NES Classic, be limited editions, but I just see them making way more money with this than VC games. People aren't chomping at the bit to get these games on the Wii or Switch in the same way they are trying to get these consoles.

Some stores started taking preorders in Greece for 99€. I expected 10 euros less but I guess I'm pre ordering just in case.

I edited my comment to make more clear what I meant. If there's just one mega thread for all pre-orders you'd basically have to camp that thread so you notice when they go live. If there's a new thread every time pre-orders go up somewhere people would probably have a much easier time noticing it.

This is very likely to be locked until such time as we get concrete info on preorders. This thread, while well-intentioned, is just going to go the same route as the ones that got locked yesterday.

I'd rather it be in one thread as in the past that has really helped me catch the rare stuff, but as more and more time passes with no NA preorders that just makes me think we aren't going to see any for weeks if at all.
