UPDATE:
Kickstarter is live.

Original post:

Just announced, from Steamforged games, creators of Dark Souls: The Board Game and the Card Game. Coming to Kickstarter this fall.

Release:
1502739357925

Steamforged Games is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with Capcom to bring the iconic Resident Evil™ 2 video game to the board gamers of the world. Building on the success of previous titles including ”Guild Ball" and ”Dark Souls: The Board Game", Steamforged Games will be launching this latest game, ”Resident Evil™ 2: The Board Game" via Kickstarter in late Autumn 2017.

Steamforged is proud of its proven capability to bring video game IP to life as board games and plans to fully realise the core game experience of the much loved Resident Evil 2 world. ”It's a privilege and an honour to be trusted to bring such an important video game to life as a board game," said Mat Hart, Creative Director and Co-founder of Steamforged Games. ”Resident Evil 2 helped to define its own genre of games and has created a lasting legacy in video game history. Steamforged has several Resident Evil super fans on the team and so we have a deep understanding of what makes RE such a compelling game experience; one that still has legions of fans around the world still playing the game nearly two decades after its release. We're determined to surprise and delight players new and old with this board game realisation, even the most hardcore of fans!"

Steamforged Games previously broke a number of Kickstarter records with their last game ”Dark Souls™: The Board Game" including the highest funded board game ever launched on the KS platform. Steamforged takes immense pride in taking amazing game worlds and lovingly crafting them into high quality board and card games...we specialise in understanding what makes each video game so compelling and then unlocking that experience in the physical game space.

Capcom's Marketing Director Antoine Molant commented ”With the Resident Evil brand being one of Capcom's most successful IP's of all time we're delighted to share our support for this exciting new release and are looking forward to seeing the end product from Steamforged Games"

I guess with RE2make in the horizon, this makes a certain amount sense.

REmake me if old.

I'd be interested in this, depending how it looks. Though I wouldn't be able to stop quoting the game the whole time I played it:

"That guy's a maniac... why'd he bite me?"

"There's a gun inside."

"LEEEON!"

How are the Bloodborne and Dark Souls board games? Should give an idea on how this'll be

Might be the gots bit of RE2make we see.
I doubt they use anything older. Unless capcom screws them over and makes them stick with dark side chronicles assets

I would exercise caution with this one. The Dark Souls game, while not horrible, was very average to slightly rubbish. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone other then the most hardcore DS fans that are basically just buying it for the models (and if that is true just play Descent with the DS models). If game ends up being similar in quality then it might be worth waiting for reviews.

Thanks for the feedback. When the Ks starts I'll wait a bit for feedback

Wait, what? An RE board game never crossed my mind before. I need this.

Robert Kendo is kind of wack, though. Should have been Hunk or Wesker.

Hoo boy, that's a lofty goal. I still feel the game'll make it to $200,000, but I don't think it'll go too far past that. Plus, I'm a little cautious after how long the Mega Man Board Game took (& how none of my friends want to play it...).

I'm in purely because RE2 is one of my top 5 games of all time. The Kickstarter page says they're doing a gameplay stream in a few minutes, hopefully it's better than the Dark Souls boardgame.

I pledged -- I can always cancel if I get cold feet, but I didn't want to miss out on the early bird savings lol they're almost all gone

Additional characters as stretch goals could really keep it going.
I'd double down for Extreme Battle Chris, Hunk and a ridiculous amount for Jill and RE3 crew.

The guy running the playtest for me hinted that we'd see Hunk and Tofu during the KS at some point. I want to say he mentioned an RE3 campaign as well, but he was very careful in what he could and couldn't talk about, so I'm not 100% sure.

I've backed this, first board game I've ever backed. So far the stretch goal is 4 extra zombies, is that all they'll do or do they add more as they're unlocked?

Backed for early bird, wish there was just a tier with the bonus g mutation and retro artwork as opposed to having to manually edit my pledge.

A RE3 add on with Jill would make sense -- they'd probably charge a good amount for it, and if probably pay for it lol

I'd love to see an expansion that would make it possible that one of the characters was a traitor or infected ... Not knowing would be an interesting mechanic. Dead of Winter is a lot of fun with that kind of situation.

For the record, they froze the pledges for the last 15 minutes to probably confirm and sort all the traffic (know this because my pledge is still processing, for example).

But it's most probably already made its goal based on the rate they were making it up there before Kickstarter froze it for a second to let things process/maybe confirm some things.

I would almost recomend going retail with this one as theyre having retailer pledge as well with stretchgoals. So mutch problems with Dark soulds KS delivery. Its late and theres no idea when will all basegames be delivered and no idea how late the expansions and stretchgoals are. Bad communication

The Bloodborne card game is great, but it's completely unrelated to this company.
