Sony’s PS4 ‘Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’ takes a second week at No1 on the All Formats Top 40 (Units), narrowly fending off the challenge from Ubisoft’s new at No2 Switch ‘Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle’.

Having debuted last week at No2 Codemasters drop one place to No3 with ‘F1 2017’. There are a further 3 new releases within the Top 10 this week – debuting at No6 is a PS4 outing for Sony’s ‘Everybody’s Golf’ and this series has now been released on all Sony consoles, beginning with PS1 back in June 1998. New at No7 is a physical release of Studio Wilcard’s self-published ‘Ark: Survival Evolved’. New at No8 is Sega’s ‘Yakuza Kiwami’ for PS4 – the Yakuza series began back in mid-2006 on PS2 and the new ‘Yakuza Kiwami’ edition is a re-make of the PS2 original. Also new this week and just scraping in to the Top 40 is Maximum Games’ ‘Dead Alliance’ at No39 and Capcom’s ‘Resident Evil: Revelations HD’ at No40.

Are there any comparisons to other turn-based strategy games one could make with Mario + Rabbids? I'd guess a "narrow" No. 2 spot isn't too bad.

Dont know about the numbers but Spot 2 seems quite good for Rabbids. I remeber we had a user worrying about its performance in the UK because it was so low on the Amazon preorder charts compared to previous Switch games.

Well deserved.

08 for Yakuza Kiwami. Not sure how that equates to sales but good to see it in the top ten at least.

Uncharted holds on. I beat this yesterday, I actually liked it more than 4. Chloe and Nadine were great and it looks amazing.

Next week with Knack 2 is the biggest test for Mario+Rabbids.

I know, it's impossible to beat Knack.

I'm so sad about Yakuza being 8th. For a game sold at half the regular pricepoint and with the recent popularity following 0, I was expecting it to chart higher.

I hope it at least sold really well digitally.

Um, I don't think this is good for Rabbids. We already know that in its launch week Lost Legacy was selling less than half that of Uc4. Sales drop dramatically after launch, so for Lost Legacy to still be in front of Rabbids means it's been a very slow week overall surely and the individual positions can't mean much?

Rabbids couldn't even outsell an UC that sold less than half of the previous mainline UC game that sold very well? Second week at that? Bad performance.

Yes, this is sarcasm at the negative spin last week

ULL had a ~80K launch so it may be above 100K now. Rabbids probably did okay, at best, and the other new titles probably sold a really low amount.

Seems pretty decent for Mario + Rabbids. Best among new launches and 2nd place overall. We need numbers, but looks good.

Uncharted LL is a budget priced 3rdPerson shooter on the PS4 - i dont know think people expected a Rabbids/Mario strategy game to easily outsell it. It doesnt matter how great it looks or plays - it isnt really a mainstream genre so sales will be somewhat limited.

A title like Rabbids was always gonna have to get its numbers via legs over months since the title is quite unique on the plattform.

yeah, like Arms

Just speculating but if we assume a 70% drop for Uncharted, which is pretty standard for a big AAA game, and it sold 80k first week then it would sell 24k second week. So if it narrowly beat out Rabbids then Rabbids is looking around that figure. That would put it comfortably above Arms but below Splatoon 2. In fact, Arms didn't even crack 15k in its first month of release in the UK, let alone first week.

All depends on if we find out the percentage drop for Uncharted's second week though. It could be a softer drop with it being a budget release or a harder drop with it not being a mainline entry, no idea really.

I reckon drop will be quite small for uncharted. There was a fair bit of confusion leading up to launch about what it actually was.

yeah, like Arms

I dont think you understood the point i was trying to make.
I didnt say the game will have Legs for sure....but Legs would be the only way for it to hit bigger numbers over time - no one expected it to start out like BotW/Mario Kart or Splatoon 2.

Arms didnt do 15k in a month? Really?

FH3 and GTA V are just monsters in the UK charts. Crazy legs!

lol at putting FH3 in the same stratosphere as GTAV.

I'm not sure why anyone would spread doom and gloom over Rabbids position. Coming close to beating TLL's second week seems pretty damn good to me. It's no Arms.

I'm disappointed by Yakuza Kiwami's position but on the bright side, I'm sure it still sold a hell of a lot better than 1-5 did. And Everybody's Golf at 6 is better than I was expecting. Sure, it probably didn't move that many copies but hey, it's still better than Ark.

Uncharted in a second week(80k-ish), early release date (not Friday) points at a 70%ish drop. Terrible result for a new release if it cant top in those condition. rabbids <25k-ish is bad.

Splatoon 2 only sold 28k first week in the UK and that had way more marketing support from Nintendo. The UK is a fairly soft market for Nintendo compared to USA, Japan and France. If you're not Pokemon, Zelda, a Mario platformer or Mario Kart you should lower your expectations for Nintendo games in the UK.

The game released at the end of September, 2016 and has hardly been out of the top 10 in all that time, despite it only appearing on the one platfrom that hasnt sold as much as the other one.

That says more about the market than those releases....full price games have a hard time in UK. Uncharted is still one of the strongest IPs out there...i dont think the anything that doesnt outsell LL is a bomba argument makes much sense, unless we were talking about other big releases.

Expecting a strategy game on system with 1/10th of the PS4 userbase to outsell a Uncharted title seems weird to me. If thats your benchmark 99% UK releases would be flops since thats what the number games sell on single plattforms unless they are bundled or AAA releases.

Uncharted with the hold. The Rabbids game will probably see a quite steady drop next week, guess the US will bring some better numbers.

On a new console, with Mario in the name, i expect it to top a DLC's second week.

There should be signs of the switch making inroads into increasing nintendos performance in the UK considering its such a successful product.

What? 25k is awesome. If it did that in UK it should be doing really well everywhere.

A DLC with Uncharted name, with bigger Marketing and on a console with bigger userbase.

How many non-plattformer/kart Mario games launch with those numbers ? It doesnt matter if Mario is on the box its still a tactical game. Unless you would expect Paper Mario or the M&L series to sell like the plattformers as well.

Or how much did X-Com 2 sell on the other systems ?

Crash Bandicoot at #3 in the individual SKU charts... after all these weeks! It's insane.

It wouldn't be doing this well based on nostalgia alone. It tells us there is a market for family games and platformers on consoles, as long as they're good and have mainstream appeal in their art direction. Mario should have told them that. Ratchet did well last year too (well the game did, not the movie). I hope this means we start to see publishers making more effort in this genre going forward.

That's fine, but it's your expectations that are incorrect here.

Game UK and Amazon are sold out of Switches again, which is a good indication that it's as successful as it can be, but it's still way behind both PS4 and XB1 at this stage. The Mario name does not guarantee success outside of the core platformer and Kart games. Otherwise we'd have higher effort Mario Golf in my dreams.

Source for the 70% Lost Legacy drop? The poster in this thread was just using 70% as speculation.

Ok, found the source for 70% second week drop: http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/uncharted-the-lost-legacy-holds-second-uk-no-1/0186652

Nice to see it already do 100k for retail sales only, that is not counting digital with all the season pass owners getting the digital version for no extra cost.

Edit: Thanks Bruno (below)

It seems that Yakuza: Kiwami performed in the same ballpark as Yakuza 0. The fanbase didn't grow but at least they showed up first day to buy it. Also, if we compare it with other niche franchises, for example Dragon Quest, this latest release on Yakuza series is comfortable ahead of every non mainline Dragon Quest release. Sega's title would be in line with Tales of during the peak era (Tales of Graces F - Tales of Xillia) ~ 5,000 - 6,000 range.

It's been out of the top 10 for most of this year from what I remember, though I guess I could be wrong.

But regardless, I just though it was a silly thing to say. FH3 has had great legs, like Overwatch and Rainbow Six: Siege to name two other 2016 games (though I don't think either of those games were heavily bundled like FH3 is). GTAV, on the other hand, is a phenomenon.

I'm so sad about Yakuza being 8th. For a game sold at half the regular pricepoint and with the recent popularity following 0, I was expecting it to chart higher.

It could also be stock issues. Didn't see it in many stores over the weekend and my copy from Amazon has been mysteriously delayed to the 16th of Sept for no reason (I used vouchers to get it cheaper so I'd rather wait than go elsewhere)

Though we all know that people are saving up for the monster that will be Knack 2 : ChartDestroyer Boogaloo.

I'm confused that people call Uncharted:TLL a "DLC" considering how fleshed out the title is. I get that it started out it's development as an addon story to U4, but what we got is comparable to some games in the genre. Is it the new meme now that Uncharted 4 and the whole "walking simulator" shitposting died out a little bit?

As for Mario&Rabbids I think it did very well for what it is. I can see it selling well with the great word of mouth going forward.

Depends on the country. I was buying a retail copy of Yakuza Kiwami here in Poland and they had plenty in stock (it was the day after the premiere).

Nice to see Kiwami at least hold on to the base. M+R did good and TLL hitting 100k is great, especially for what was once DLC.

Many people seem to think it is a normal "DLC", because it was supposed to be one at the start of the development and it is free to SP owners.

Pretty sure it is harming its sales potential quite a bit as well. Anecdotally, but I had to tell two of my friends who played all main games that it isn't a normal DLC and only because of that they bought it. Originally they thought it would be an (overpriced) "DLC episode".

@Mario + Rabbids: It isn't a super mainstream genre, Mario on the cover won't change that (though that surely helped the game a lot). It was never supposed to be the next huge game for the Mario IP. So I wouldn't call 20k bad.

IIRC R6S is a 2015 game, not that it matters much as the game faltered out of the gate before finding its feet.

Popularity online and among critics does equate to massive sales.

20k for Rabbids is not a great result. Interest in the title must be pretty low.

Would you expect it to do better than Splatoon 2? Depending on your answer the results can be viewed in a positive or negative light.
