Not really. Call of Duty 4 is amazing, Call of Duty 5 is just kind of meh. I don't think it's a Treyarch thing, I actually thought Call of Duty 3 was great while most people trashed it, it's just WWII games are just getting meh, especially after playing Modern Warfare.

What's with the big Mario & Sonic bump?

I wonder if even the release of the sequel will make it stop selling.

I can't believe how well Layton is sticking in the top 10. I'm glad europe is showing some level 5 love.

of course, that has nothing to do with it as COD 5 sold better in UK than COD4. What you are seeing is price drop or bundling...

Since LBP discounting has often been discussed in these threads, an article in the new MCV might be of interest.

http://issuu.com/intentmedia/docs/mcv_issue533

It's on page 4, talks about how the price has come down at some retailers to as little as £11-£12 now. But it seems to be something Sony is actively encouraging/sanctioning. Seems they want to do whatever possible to get the game into more user's hands.

Which makes me wonder..are things like healthy DLC revenue allowing for cheaper upfront prices on games? I'm guessing Sony are happy to heavily discount games like LBP because of an anticipated growth in DLC revenue off the back of the larger userbase (with LBP possibly being one of their strongest DLC games, I'm guessing). That'd be a nice precedent, although it could encourage people to delay initial purchases of games with stronger DLC revenue potential, in anticipation of discounting.

enourmus discounts are very UK specific though... I think that what you will see within months is that LBP will be moved to platnium status.

It's safe to say Wii Fit will sell or even hang around the top 10 until the end of this generation, it hasn't even dropped in price and they could always bundle it at some point.

I was in Gamestation earlier and was talking to one of the guys behind the counter he said that Wii Fit is their most asked for game, He said his lost count of how many people ask for it in a day. :lol

Wii Fit will be selling well forever

Nintendo stays fit at No1

Nintendo are looking healthy at the top of the All Formats Chart as ‘Wii Fit’ stays at No1 for a third consecutive week, totalling 12 weeks at No1 in all (8 of which have come in 2009).

After Easter, sales of ‘Wii Fit’ are down by 30%, while ‘The Godfather II’ remains at No2, sales falling by 32%. EA will have to wait in the wings for another week in order to become the Don of the games charts, but old favourite ‘FIFA 09’ (-17%) ensures a strong presence at the top end of the Chart for the big American publisher, up 2 places to No3. The rest of the All Formats Top 10 shuffle places, ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ (-35%) and ‘Resident Evil 5’ (-30%) are both down one place to No’s 4 and 5 respectively. Nintendo’s 3 other Top 10 titles all perform relatively well, each with only small drops in sales – ‘Professor Layton’ (-9%) is up one place to No6, ‘Mario Kart Wii’ (-1%) up 2 places to No7 and ‘Wii Play’ (-13%) is a non-mover at No8. Activision Blizzard still have a foothold in the Top 10 despite ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ (-23%) slipping from No6 to No9. With no new releases of any note out this week it gives consistent chart performer ‘Carnival: Funfair Games’ (-12%) the opportunity to sneak back into the Top 10, up from No16 to No10.

It's the basis of free-to-play model, as long as you can maintain an active userbase, you can continue making money off dlc.
LBP's core concept is a sandbox metagame, which always had potential to keep a userbase active for a long time.

GTA:CW continues to do well, it seems.

It actually has legs, so we can't assume it won't have legs in the US too. So basically, we don't know how successful it will end up being.

despite the lagging madworld sales i think sega cant complain about the wii

holy shit at mario and sonic

winter games will be massive

I see Indiana Jones has had a big bump must mean a lot of 360's got sold.
Ye, it might be that the Xbox 360 sales went up this week, but it might be that the sales in general went down this week, which means that for example 20th place last week could have sold 10,000 copies, but this week, 20th place could have sold 5,000 copies. This way, games might chart higher, even if they sold just like they did the last week, or even if they sold abit less compared to how they sold in the previous week, if you know what i mean?

When was the last time ELSPA released their sales awards?
Previous month i think, around on the 6th or 7th of March. I dont know why the ELSPA sales awards havnt been released this month yet.

Definitely, this is a slow week.

Ye, i was thinking that this might be a possibility at least :) If i counted correctly, 17 games went up in the Top 40 chart this week. I dont know how many titles in general that normally goes up in the Top 40 charts each week though , but last week, 10 games went up in the Top 40 chart if i counted correctly. I am not sure if this is a good indicator of higher or lower sales either though :\ Maybe the Xbox 360 have had some promotion that i dont know about, so maybe the Xbox 360 sales have gone up because of this. But hopefully we will get some total software numbers from MCV soon, like bttb posted in this post:
