Game Info;

The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz, and grime. As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (a.k.a. "Gay Tony"), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North and set in Liberty City, Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony completes an epic story and gameplay arc that intersects with the storylines of Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned. With new missions, weapons, vehicles, soundtrack updates and multiplayer content that showcase the over-the-top nature of life at the center of the city, on the other side of the velvet rope where everyone and everything is accessible and available for a price.

Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony, the highly-anticipated second episode of Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content for Xbox 360® will be available worldwide October 29, 2009 on disc with The Lost and Damned as part of Episodes from Liberty City (Grand Theft Auto IV not required to play) or as a download exclusively on Xbox LIVE® (Grand Theft Auto IV required).

New Weapons;

Pistol .44 (ÁMT Automag)

Pistol .44A new type of handgun. It is a high velocity handgun for quick and accurate kills. It was briefly seen in the second "Episodes From Liberty City" trailer in which Luis shot a gunman on a plane while driving a Bati Custom and jumped on before it took off.

Shotgun Explosive Shotgun (AA-12)

Explosive ShotgunAn AA-12 packed with explosive charges. It is also a low recoil automatic shotgun with rapid fire to take down multiple targets easily.

Sub-Machine GunsGold SMG (Uzi SMG)

Yusuf Amir is usually seen carrying this weapon in Meet Yusuf Amir trailer. If this is similar to the Uzi from GTA IV and TLAD, it will be rather weak and have very poor range compared to other weapons, but an astonishing rate of fire that is perfect for drive-bys.

Advanced SMG (FN P90)

Assault SMGA light, accurate and compact sub-machine gun. Perfect in gunfights, it is also the first weapon that is used by Luis in the mission Dropping In....

Heavy Weaponry Advanced MG (M249 SAW)

Advanced MGA powerful weapon that fires 900 rounds per minute and can take down enemies fast. As seen in Guns in Liberty City (Weasel News) Trailer demonstrated by the "Terrorism Expert".

Advanced Sniper (DSR-1)

Advanced SniperGreatly increased range, rate of fire and sniper zoom make this the ideal long range weapon. It was seen in a screenshot in which Luis was targeting a person while on a helicopter.

Sticky Bombs

Sticky Bombs (Satchel Charges) Tag vehicles or objects for remote detonation. Used in the mission Going Deep.

Parachute

The Parchute made a reappearance in the game. The steering system is the same in San Andreas, it is used in Dropping In... and in parachute checkpoints. It is confirmed that the parachute will be available in multiplayer.

Bottom Line:

Gamespot;

This superb downloadable episode for GTAIV would be easy to recommend even if it were a full retail product selling for three times its actual price.

And perhaps a little teasing for GTA V now;

I have great disdain for all things GTA IV, but base jumping in this game makes me want it badly. I did say before I could not give a rats ass about GTA IV or the DLC but wow, I really want to just base jump for the hell of it.

Nice thread!

I'm picking this up from BB's B2G1F sale -- can't wait! I'm glad to see they decided to loosen it up a bit with this episode and add some ridiculous activities, like basejumping, realism be damned! :D

Personally, I cannot wait. I finally finished TLatD last week and I'm itching to get back in. Does anybody know if there's a new filter for this one, much as they added the Film Grain one for TLatD?

damn why do i have to buy the disc just to get vice city fm?! =(

Because of rights to the songs, apparently. (There's lots of speculation about it being to up sales of the disc version, as it is more expensive than buying the game through DLC. This makes sense, but Rockstar say on their site it's because of song-rights. So, pick whichever reason floats your boat.)

Why do you feel like you have to? If you don't agree with what they're doing just don't support it. Buy the DLC version instead.

I want Vice City FM, but I'm not re-buying Lost and Damned for it. :(

Still, I can't wait - L&D was a huge improvement over 4, making it the best GTA yet, so I hope that continues with Gay Tony. All of the preview stuff seems to suggest that will be the case.

I really want to pick this up but I am really annoyed that the Vice City Fm station is unique to the disc version, I still might but im not sure.

Well done Jtyettis, buying this when it comes out ( if I have my paycheck by then ).

I'm not really hyped, but I know that once I play it I'll finish it in one day probably :lol

Still pissed off about the disc only radio station though :s

This package is soo tempting. Gay Tony looks great and I'm even more hyped for the dlc since I've started watching Sons of Anarchy.
I am fiercely determined to wait and see if they announce it for PS3 down the line though. It's really smart to make these a standalone disc and relatively cheap as well, again I'm tempted.

I can't wait. I'll be rocking to Vice City FM in a few days. So glad I waited on TLATD.

I'm really looking forward to this. Lost and Damned was a big step-up from GTA4 and from the sounds of it this should be a step-up from Lost and Damned. Looking forward to seeing more elements of how the stories connect and hopefully the end-credits can be as fantastic as L&D. Although I was a bit disappointed by the end of regular GTA4 I think I'm gonna be feeling extremely nostalgic by the time this comes to a close; I want Rockstar to pump me full of nostalgia til I burst with the credits :D

This might have been answered but are the weapons from L&D going to be part of Gay Tony? It seems weird having GTA4, then L&D with it's own guns and vehicles, then Gay Tony with its own guns and vehicles. It's very fragmented.

Goddamn I am excited. Despite its flaws, GTA4 was one of the most fun gaming experiences I have ever had.

So with this disc, how exactly does the world work? Is it the entire world of GTA4, but none of the regular GTA4 mission markers appear, only the DLC mission markers appear?

That is my understanding of how it works yes.

I missed out on the LAD so I'm getting the Liberty city episodes disc. I saw a lot of Bus advertisements today for the game.

Cool. After I beat GTA4, I must have spent 20 hours doing nothing but spawning a helicopter and finding creative ways to die. Shameful how much time I played that damn game. Easily 100 hours. I assume this will provide similar avenues for awesomeness with the base jumping, etc.

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
God damn i want this so much. Mostly for gay tony. Hope i have money around release =/
EDIT: Shit 3 days, nope i have no money.

How will the achievements for the disc version work? Will they be merged with the GTA IV list similar to how it works for buying the episodes as DLC or will Episodes of Liberty City have a seperate list?

I was going to get the DLC version as I already own TLaD, but Vice City FM and Fernando are making me consider the disc version.

I was really excited to buy and download TBoGT tomorrow Thursday, but since I already own TLAD I will now be waiting for the disc version to go on sale for $20. Yes, Vice City FM is that important to me.

I'll look at the bright side - I now have time to invest into Uncharted 2 and Borderlands. Still really looking forward to playing TBoGT some day.

Wait, why are some people acting like this is available tomorrow? Tomorrow is the 27th, and this comes out the 29th (Thursday)... right?

Anyway, I have a hellishly busy week ahead of me, so Saturday night (Halloween) I'm gonna be puffin some herb and diving in to this bad boy. Looks awesome as hell

Will there ever be a Ps3 port? I don't have the money to spring for a 360 just to play GTA4 DLC.

"Only on Xbox" = not for the foreseeable future, but never say never.

I haven't gone past the first few missions in GTA4 because of the awful controls. They feel completely unresponsive and slow to be honest. The framerate is also pretty bad. It isn't even a fixed 30FPS game.

Car controls are definitely an issue, but I don't remember framerate being a problem. What system did you play on? Maybe I just have rose-tinted goggles.

I was so disappointed with GTA IV after having experienced the glory of San Andreas. It held me for the first few hours but after I got to the second island the story fell apart and it was only then I realised that there was nothing else to do. I'm so happy they're bringing back the over the top zaniness of San Andreas. The missions shown in the trailers are already far more exciting than anything IV had to offer.

I didn't have a 360 until a few weeks ago, so the disc with both DLCs is perfect for me. I'm still not really interested in TLAD, but I'm sure I'll get around to playing it.

DId they mention how the achievements are going to work by using the disc?

Will the 360 see it as GTA4, and therefore mean you can't obtain all the GTA4 achievements, or is it seen separately?

Yes, I have read the OP, but it doesn't mention how the Episodes disc will work.

Zoso

It's been a long time, been a long time, been a long lonely lonely lonely lonely lonely time.
Man I forgot this was coming out so soon. Definitely going to buy this once I have money.

Despite the GAF hate, GTA IV is one of my favorite games this gen.

Damn, you are right...I won't be getting it until next week at this point anyway. I pre-ordered it from Amazon. No big rush.
