Easter takes a hold of the games market, with Good Friday signalling a time to settle back, meet the family and play some games. With that in mind, Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance’ manoeuvres its way back to No1 (+56%) with a third chart-topping week on the Entertainment All Formats (it was No1 in weeks 2 & 3 this year and also claims an impressive 12 out of 13 weeks of the year so far on top of the Entertainment Software Budget Price Top 40).

Square Enix’s ‘Just Cause 2’ (-21%) has to settle for No2 this week, having parachuted straight into No1 at launch last week (although keeps hold of No1 on both 360 and PS3 Full Price Charts). EA’s ‘Battlefield: Bad Company 2’ (-7%) remains at No3 and Activision Blizzard celebrate a return to the Top 5 for the first time in 5 weeks with ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ climbing 2 places to No4 (+52%) – 21 weeks since launch and MW2 still has not dropped out of the Top 10. Nintendo’s ‘Pokemon Soulsilver’ (-37%) drops 3 places to No5, ‘Wii Sports Resort’ climbs 3 places to No6 (+52%) and ‘Pokemon HeartGold’ drops 3 places to No7 (-34%).

‘FIFA 10’ celebrates a return to the Top 10 after 3 weeks just outside, up 4 places to No8 (+70%). There are no new releases within the Top 40, with only P2Games/Ubisoft’s ‘Peppa Pig: Fun and Games’ from last week entering the Top 40 at No27 (+312%). Those looking to find PQube/Zen’s ‘Blazblue: Calamity Trigger’ will be interested to learn that it was the biggest new release of week 13, but is just outside the published Entertainment Software All Prices Top 40 (you can find it on the Entertainment Software Full Price Top 40 at No38 and at No21 on 360 and No19 on PS3 Full Price Charts).

I wonder how well BF BC2 will have sold worldwide at the end of the day... It's a steady seller and is #3 on XBL. 5M+ units seems likely.

aliens versus predator has pretty consistently good legs in uk, i'm guessing its sold more than me2 overall there by now?

Amazed at Battlefield's legs. Longer than GoW3's, even on PS3 alone. Also Forza 3 still comfortably hanging on in there.

Alas, poor Blazblue, they fucked up your release, marketing and anything else you'd care to mention.

So much for them wanting to crack the Top 3 on each of their respective platforms charts...

Suprised to see Pokemon falling already, I'd have thought Easter sales would be giving it a boost.

Next time release the game on the same fucking day as the rest of the world. Maybe then you'll see that people who wanted the game haven't already imported it.

Maybe we'll get the sequel on time...

:lol

Oh dear, not again.

On the bright side, Heavy Rain is still doing well. Uncharted 2 finally fell out of the top 40 though by the look of it :(

Heavy Rain performing better (based on weekly sales drop) than God of War III, bizarre.

Who would have thought it? Word of mouth must really be doing good things for Heavy Rain. Wonder how many copies it has sold.

Are we really going to have this every week?

God Of War has never been, and apparently never will be, a major franchise in Europe.

Weekly drops mean little. GOW3 is the third installment in a series and was always going to be more frontloaded than a new IP.

Also Heavy Rain had way more advertising than GoW3 in EU.

What the hell is going on with Forza 3? Never mind Heavy Rain.

The game is up and down the charts every single week. Incredible legs.

I think GOW3 will get a second wind after they release the GOW Collection here in a few weeks time. Although I realise this is totally unscientific, if my PSN friends list is anything to go by it seems that a lot of people fully intend to buy the game but have passed on it for now because they missed GOW2 and want to catch up on the story first. It's worth remembering that GOW2 didn't do big numbers here, partly I think because a lot of people who might have bought it had moved on from the PS2 by the time it was released.

I didn't pick up GoW or GoW2 until after I'd seen the E3 2009 version of the GoW3 trailer (which, incidentally, was the first footage I'd seen of any GoW game. :lol) "That looked awesome! Maybe I should pick up the PS2 games..."

YES

Unbelievable isn't it. It still has such a following even tho its a completely different game after version 4.

Seriously. most of the core market they should've been aiming for most likely already has it.

I've liked all the previous settlers games but this new one just didn't click for me with the demo - seemed to have lost a lot of the charm of the older ones (even without the horrid Ubisoft DRM)

Its £17.95 currently that could explain a new bump to the lists.

Well, I finally can't blame devs any more for not releasing "gamer" games on the wii. Red steel 2 & just dance prove it.

You can't blame them? Ubisoft basically flooded the market with these "casual" games, building a substantial userbase for Just Dance. How did they help build the market for "gamer" games? They released Red Steel 1 (which was crap) four years ago. Yeah, I think the devs are certainly to blame for the market situation right now.

I doubt the same people who went gaga for Imagine Crapz are digging Just Dance. It's probably the bored out Wii Fit crowd.

Or, you know, people who like games that are fun. Just Dance is as much for the after pub crowd as it is for the teens
