I don't agree at all man. To me, alcohol is like an unrefined buzz, sloppy and general. To me the initial effects of alcohol are pretty agreeable - you get a very good glow and feel very nice, but the glow is quick to recede and alcohol has undesirable effects associated with "come down" or "sobering up". For me it is very often fatigue, sometimes less frequently but still common are headaches. I'd say 70+% of the time I drink almost any amount of alcohol I end up with fatigue and headaches not too long after.
I'd much rather smoke weed (or kratom, or oxycodone, or valium, or etc - literally, alcohol is almost the absolute last/bottom on my list of drugs I enjoy) than alcohol. On a non-productive leisure day, I can easily wake in the morning and enjoy a nice joint or bowl outside then proceed to have a great breakfast and if I wish, I can continue smoking before sitting down with a book or a game etc throughout the day. I find weed to be a good precursor to many activities such as reading, watching a film, playing a game, fishing, taking a walk, etc, none of which I enjoy on alcohol. In fact, I don't enjoy much of anything on alcohol sans the first 45 minutes or so. Then it becomes a chore no matter the activity. In short, I just don't see how people can drink all day, or even a moderate amount over a long period of time and still feel good or okay. I can smoke until the cows come home.... I know this isn't the case for everyone, but I love to get stoned.
