There seems to be ample demand for a candy swap, but since no one was stepping up to coordinate it, I thought I'd do it this go around. Thanks to tmaynard, whose past threads I have lovingly raided for ideas and organization and who was too swamped this time around. Let's eat some candy.

What I Will Do
I will match people up with someone from a different country to trade candy with, and will match as many "preferred partner countries" as possible. However, since most people will be from the US, international GAFers will most likely be matched with someone from the US. But I'll try to accommodate as many specific requests as possible.
If anyone wants multiple swap partners, just say so.
I will contact everyone by the 18th with their partner's information. Latecomers will need to find a partner to swap with.

Ground Rules
1) Ship $20 (or local equivalent) of candy, unless you negotiate a lesser amount with your partner. Feel free to ship more, or arrange via PM to your partner a larger swap. But pending agreement with your partner, $20 of candy is the minimum you should swap. Don't be a cheapskate, these swaps are events and no one wants to be on the receiving end of disappointment.
2) Keep your receipts, both from the candy and the shipping. If the shipment gets lost or customs raids it, it's good to have a receipt for evidence that you tried.

4) Wrapped candy only. If you buy bulk or specialty/local candy, it needs to be wrapped and properly packaged.

Some Handy Sites | International shipping can be expensive, so you might want to price it before signing up.
Tips
Consider the heat. It's summer in the US and elsewhere, so package your melty candy (especially chocolate) accordingly. Styrofoam peanuts or containers will help protect from meltage, but a decent sized package with layers of packaging (paper, bubble wrap, etc.) will also help.
Send variety: unless your partner specifies, lots of different kinds of treats are preferable to a couple large bags. The goal is to provide a cornucopia of candy from your country to someone who doesn't have the chance to have it often, if ever.
