Mystery Science Theater 3000 |OT|: We Put Our Faith in Blast Hardcheese

I just figured it might be a good idea to have a nice catch all MST3K topic, to talk about episodes, hosts, skits, DVD releases, and anything else.

I've just been watching a crap ton of MST3K on my morning commute. Nothing like Joel/Mike and the Bots to make the work day more tolerable. I also have the last two box sets on order.

Oh anyone here ever track down an uncut copy of an MST3K movie? I've done it for a couple...including Red Zone Cuba!

MST3K is also something me and my wife always love to watch (it was one of the first things we talked about when we met). Hell, my friend even wrote a wedding toast based entirely on quotes from the show. Yes, if anyone wants I'll post a picture of it :) We keep it framed on our mantle.

I actually got a chance to talk to Reb Brown once. I was so close to setting up an interview, but his wife (yes her) killed it. Nice guy, he actually had to tell his dogs to quite down. I can't lie and say I wasn't a little disappointed that he didn't scream.

Tom:

Oh, I wish I was back in old Canada,
A land which I never shall lampoon!
How I pine for the ice covering Lake Manitoba,
And the beauty that is Saskatoon!

Mike:

Oh, I wish I was stuck in the hills of Alberta,
Drinking beer with some big dumb guy trapping fur!
As he scraped and chiseled all the moose dung off his boots,
I would learn that he's the Prime Minister!

Spoken:

Tom: Oh, stop that!

Crow:

Oh, I wish I was in the land that gave us Peter Jennings,
Alanis Morissette, Mike Myers, too!
No, I take that back, I wouldn't go there even if you paid me,
Oh, Canada, you are a place I must eschew!

Spoken:

Tom: Now, this is NOT in the spirit I intended!
Mike: Oh, come on, give in! I mean, after all, they gave us Ed the Sock and Rush!
Crow: Yeah, what are you defending? They're such feebs!'
Tom: Okay, I'll try!'
Mike: All right! Good man!

Servo:

Oh, I wish I was blowing up Prince Edward Island,
And going on to bomb Ontario!
The destruction of Canada and all of its culture,
Is by far my fav-o-rite scenario!

Spoken:

Mike: Okay, well that's a little strong....
Tom: No, no, you were right Mike, this is much more fun!

Servo (maniacally):

Just where the hell does Canada get off sharing a border
With countries far superior to it? (Crow: Yikes!)
Why, you lousy, stinking, francophonic, bacon-loving bastards,
Your country's just a giant piece of sh...

Since this is an OT, this might be a good place to ask something. How do any non-american MST3k fans get DVDs of the show? I haven't looked in a while but ebay auctions go for stupid amounts of money and so do Amazon shipping fees.

You can check with tape traders (for the Non-Rhino, Non-BBI, Non-Shout Factory episodes). For the official releases I would just look around for a that is generally good with international shipping.

What country are you from? I might be able to give some better help then.
I'm in the UK and hurting for legal material, especially now there are Gamera DVDs in the works.

So what's everyone's favorite episodes?

Mine are Timechasers, Girl in Gold Boots, Squirm, Final Sacrifice, and Boggy Creek II. "The believability of the sightings along Boggy Creek are rated quite high". :lol

Puma Man, Timechasers, Girl in Gold Boots, Final Sacrifice, Touch of Satan, and Space Mutiny are my favorites.

Blood Waters of Dr. Z gets an honorable mention, for one scene where I laughed so hard I nearly puked. :lol

Still I'm surprised at the lack of love for Zombie Nightmare and Danger Death Ray!
Dammit, I forgot about Zombie Nightmare!
