Only one week to go until the official Entertainment Software Christmas Chart and ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops’ (+2%) puts newcomer ‘World of Warcraft: Cataclysm’ in the shade by holding on to the top spot.

Activision-Blizzard are denied the top 2 places by a strong showing from EA’s ‘FIFA 11’ (+15%) which also holds on to its position, a non-mover at No2. The highly anticipated expansion to ‘World of Warcraft’ has to settle for a debut at No3 with the biggest launch for a PC title this year. It is the first time a World of Warcraft expansion has been available at launch as both a digital download and official retail release. Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’ (-3%) and Sony’s ‘Gran Turismo 5’ (-2%) both make way for Warcraft, dropping one place to Nos 4 and 5 respectively. Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance 2’ (+22%) hasn’t lost its groove, despite falling one place to No6, ahead of EA’s ‘Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit’ (+46%) which holds on to No7.

Nintendo occupy the last 3 places in the Top 10 as this week’s biggest climber ‘Donkey Kong Country Returns’ (+68%) bounds into the Top 10, up 5 places to No8, becoming Nintendo’s biggest selling title this week, ahead of ‘Professor Layton and the Lost Future’ (+27%) at No9 and ‘Wii Fit Plus’ (+22%) at No10.

Black Ops over Gran Turismo 5 in Spain is a surprise to me.

Very strong showing for Donkey Kong.

I'm surprised to see Kinect Adventures enter the top 10 in Spain as well as Kinect Sports holding firm at number five on the 360 only chart. Why dont we ever post the individual console charts up?

I think that Dec. 3rd is still Week 48. So it should be there. DKCR not charting in France is really surprising.

I thought it would be first easily.

Just wow.

Isn't there a DS NSMB bundle as well?

GT5 looks like it will sell well over a long period of time. DKC rising, very impressive, if it can hold its sales here and globally then it will be one of Nintendo's biggest franchises in the league of Mario and Zelda. Colors, Galaxy 2, Goldeneye, and Mickey are holding tight down there.

Just wow.
It isn't scanned alone though, it's in the box, same reason why Wii Sports or Wii Sports resorts don't really chart.

Unless NSMBWii is beeing given to black and white wii buyers in the UK?

Be nice if GT5 got the Xmas No.1, if it holds up well and WoW drops like a rock this week (like Lich King did), then it's got a decent shot.

The UK Christmas No.1 title is usually given to the game at the top of the All Formats chart, and GT5 is currently in 5th place on that. It looks like it's going to be between Black Ops and FIFA this year, but I reckon Black Ops will take it just like Modern Warfare 2 did last year.

Mario Kart DS pops into the top 40, eh:lol

Yup, seems to have been in the middle of the DS top 10 for the whole year!
DS games are selling better in time for Christmas so it's showing up in the top 40 again.

Big drop for GT5 in Netherlands and it's already below Black Ops on just the PS3 in Spain but overall the EU numbers are really quite good, has got to be way past 1 million by now. The UK numbers are OK as well I guess, still a drop from last week along with AC:B while every other big went up is not what I would call legs. That said it's done over 400k in the UK, must be 100k by now in Spain, 40k Finland and 200k in France so over 700k without knowing Germany numbers and what not. Unless the game gets horrible word of mouth it's going to munch up the shipment number in EU so more shipments in the region where by far the most copies have been shipped, overall extremely impressive stuff for GT5 in EU.

Have also seen a lot of GT5 commercials as of late here in the UK, the kind you would expect during release time so it's fair to say people were right with the theory that the last delay fucked up advertising and so Sony had to wait for more slots. Been seeing New Vegas, Medal oh Honour, AC:B, Black Ops, Kinect OMFG still so many of them but Nintendo take the cake as usual, bombarding TV with a fuck ton of DS and Wii adverts.

Is there any idea what Forza 3 and NFS: Shift sales are in the UK? Forza 3 was in the top 10 forever and shift is getting a sequel so both obviously have good sales but as said Forza 3 legs were amazing. That game must be close to 1 million or past it in UK going by how long it was in the top 10, only stopped a month or so ago so dreamy legs. Seeing racers do well warms the heart ever so. :p

Spanish charts are monthly.

GT5 (one week) was below COD:BO PS3 (three weeks). And we don't know if adding the collector's edition would put GT5 at nº 1

6 weeks later and Goldeneye is still charting. =D

Indeed. Hard figures down that low are unlikely to be spectacular, but it seems as though it will chunter away down there until the New Year.

Forza 3 was over 600k and NFS:Shift was over 300k as of March. Sadly I don't believe there have been any sales awards since April so we'll likely never know if they went any higher.

I think
05 (07) [360] Call Of Duty: Black Ops (Activision Blizzard)
is wrong, though. That has to be Professor Layton, but it says CoD for some reason...so I don't know.

You know, I want to kill the guy who thought that having Art Academy in tv every 5 seconds was a good idea but I can't kill him...so at least it helps it didn't make Spain top10 and on top of that it was outsold by Layton. Fuck yeah professor, this doesn't remind me of a puzzle though.

I think
05 (07) [360] Call Of Duty: Black Ops (Activision Blizzard)
is wrong, though. That has to be Professor Layton, but it says CoD for some reason...so I don't know.

Germany you always deliver. Except maybe for Werder Bremen.

Indeed, looks strange. CoD 360 above CoD PS3 and Layton gone?
Let's wait for einslive charts.

Dropping 3 places in it's 3rd week, is that really a big drop? It is all relative of course, but i am just wondering :)

Relative of course, sales are still very good but compared to other regions it's a pretty big drop. However looking back the charts are a mix of individual and combined, individually it's not a stretch to say GT5 is number one in every region. Also I believe you also asked about my comment on GT5 sales in the UK being weak, again this is relative to the remainder of EU, GT4 did not even pass 1 million in the UK yet here we are with GT4 having shipped 6.6 million copies in EU. Seeing a whole lot of GT5, AC:B, FIFA 11, anything Nintendo and Kinect adverts as of late, Kinect and Nintendo adverts coming on more frequently than the perfume adverts which at this time of the year is substantial.

So from what we know 450k copies of GT5 have been sold in the UK, France is probably up to 300k, 100k in Germany, 40k in Finland and 92k in Spain so a grand total of close to 1 million. This is without including Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Netherlands etc so it's obviously way past 1 million now and that is an extremely conservative number. Unless something goes very wrong next year there will definitely be a second shipment for the game in EU. EU seems to be cutting the Japan and NA slack. :/

Edit - Ah right on cue, GT5 advert just came on during the ashes advert. :)

Looks like its doing pretty decent in Europe.
Aye, but you have to remember without the number, we don't know how strong.

For example - 10th in UK could be under 10K (quite common in Japan market), or even possible under 1000 in some other EU countries after top 5.
