EA’s ‘FIFA 12’ 2nd week sales may have dropped -68% (units) over the impressive launch week, but this is still enough to claim 13th in the all time weekly unit sales ever tracked on the All Formats Chart and it remains comfortably No1. Debuting strongly at No2 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC is Bethesda’s long-anticipated ‘Rage’ from id Software, the developer that brought ‘Doom’ and ‘Quake’ to the world. Also debuting highly at No3 is Namco Bandai’s 360/PS3 ‘Dark Souls’, the spiritual successor to ‘Demon’s Souls’ (both by From Software but ‘Demon’ was a PS3 exclusive, published in the UK in June 2010). Microsoft drop 2 places to No4 with ‘Gears of War 3’ (-65%) and the next 4 titles (F1 2011, Zumba Fitness, Dead Island, Deus Ex: Human Revolution) all drop 2 places to accommodate the 2 new releases. The exceptions are Disney’s ‘Lego Pirates of the Caribbean’ which remains at No9 (-2%) and Sony’s PS3 ‘Resistance 3’ (+0%) which climbs 3 places to No10. The third and final new release within the Top 40 is 2K Sports/Take 2’s ‘NBA 2K12’ at No12 which debuts a full 7 positions higher than last year’s version.

I wonder how close the PS3 and 360 versions of Dark Souls are... I would have expected PS3 to be much higher with the Demon's Souls fanbase.

EA’s ‘FIFA 12’ 2nd week sales may have dropped -68% (units) over the impressive launch week, but this is still enough to claim 13th in the all time weekly unit sales ever tracked on the All Formats Chart and it remains comfortably No1.
I feel this is quite astonishing.

And encouraging debut for Dark Souls. Industry could be mended as they claim it in the order OT ?

Good to see Dark Souls doing so well.

Not much in the way of surprises, except for Kinect Joyride entering the charts again. When was the last time we had a Kinect game in the top 40? (bonus points if you can tell me any game other than Kinect Sports!)

PSP Fifa in the charts but 3DS Fifa isn't?

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
The PSP isn't actually doing that bad against the 3DS.

The last thread had market share numbers for August, which was the 3DS's price drop month:

Deus Ex sales are suspicious, but that's what 2ch have.

I wonder how close the PS3 and 360 versions of Dark Souls are... I would have expected PS3 to be much higher with the Demon's Souls fanbase.

Well, multiplats on the PS3 usually get a 40-45% share at best in the UK. So for Dark Souls to have 68% of its sales on PS3 is pretty substantial.

Good to see Dark Souls doing so well.

Not much in the way of surprises, except for Kinect Joyride entering the charts again. When was the last time we had a Kinect game in the top 40? (bonus points if you can tell me any game other than Kinect Sports!)

Rise of Nightmares and Child Of Eden.

The PSP isn't actually doing that bad against the 3DS.

The last thread had market share numbers for August, which was the 3DS's price drop month:
Jeez. Factor PSN sales in and PSP is probably ahead.

The software selection for the 3DS truly is dire though. I'm itching to pick up another game but there's nothing out there that justifies paying £25-£35. The next game I expect to buy is MK7.

Ouch :/

I expect the 3DS to pick up with the release of Mario/Kart, though.
I expect it to pick up, but I don't think it can single-handedly turn the 3DS around. Nor Mario 3D Land.

Guys, the PSP has a far larger install base than 3DS, even if it is almost dead software wise.
But... you know what game has always appeared, even in high positions for PSP?
Yes. FIFA
And you know what positions in charts occupied the DS version of FIFA when it appeared (2009 and 2010)?
Yeah, 30th and 26th.
It has also few games compared to the hundreds and hundreds of PSP.
So...FIFA isn't a very sincere barometer of 3DS' performance.
And, however, I'm really expecting this month's investors conference, so we'll finally see where 3DS stabilised after the drop...and how the other consoles are doing, basically :P

WTF - France gets club branded Fifa editions and the rest of Europe doesn't?

I've always wanted something like that here in Germany. I think that's a brilliant way to make people buy the game at launch if they're limited and it might even make those a bit harder to sell second hand.

Neither will really bolster existing software, but expect hardware sales to hit the roof for a time to come.

3DS desperately needs a software RRP cut, in addition to many more budget-priced titles.

That is true, but stock wise i dont think that the difference is really that huge actually. A bit anecdotal, but ShopTo has 35 PSP games in stock compared to 30 3DS games. I'm not from the UK, but i'm sure that someone can chime in and give some more info on how the PSP vs 3DS game selection are in the stores there.

Alright. So we got a minor hit, UK-wise. It should also do fine in France and outsell Xenoblade if things turn well.

They also need to slash (not cut, I'm talking ~70% off) the prices of almost everything on the eShop, especially the DSi software. As someone with an iOS device, seeing 'Hero Of Sparta' & 'Ferrari GT Evolution' for £7.20 each gave me a good belly laugh.

That's the best top 20 the UK has seen in a while. Gears 3 has held longer than expected given the competition. Batman, JD3, and BF3 are going to do monster numbers in the coming weeks.

What is Human Revolution's LTD after all the calculations?

219,000 (UK, 90%) through week 39. Extrapolated to 100% and including this week (no % change given this week) it should be over 250k.

Lovely numbers for Dark Souls... if only FIFA and PES died already more people would try different games.

Why would that make a difference? Another football game would just take their place.
We should be happy that we have choice to buy what we want to play.

GT 5 is still there. We will see if Spec II change anything next week.
Maybe little boost, but will it have own retail version too? If so, it will be more likely have a nice boost.

Someday perhaps, but not now.

It would be great if PD would release new LTD numbers on their site, but they are probably waiting for end of Dec.
Anyone remember when exactly was PD site updated?

I am surprised by the Resistance climbing 3 places.. is it really showing legs or is it just a MIRAGE.. :)
It haven't drop from last week (0%), other games drop and that's why R3 move up 3.

Very surprised that Rage PS3 sold more than Dark Souls PS3. My PS3 friends list this weekend was about 10 DS to 1 Rage.

You have a very refined friendslist and I wish some of those friends were mine.

In the Game stores I've seen, there's a fair selection of PSP stuff, all pre-owned, at clearance prices whereas 3DS stuff is all prominently displayed in the chart section next to PS3 and 360 software.

at 3DS software.

I have seen quite lot of old 3DS about 10+ in High Wycombe Cex shop, I think that's people get the advance to sell it at old high price before the price cut.
Maybe that's why the software is really low.
