Four in August - Backlog Declassified

The challenge is simple, complete four games in August. They can be games you started in July 2013, or December 1997, it doesn't matter, just get them done by September.

Five games in the last month was tough, but its still summer. I give you guys a bit of a break this month, but we still have to trim those awesome games from our backlogs.

Tools:

Backloggery
How Long to Beat
GAF Backlog Blitz Thread

Past Threads:

Five in July - The Ultimate Backlog Challenge
Four in June - Can You Handle The Backlog Heat?
Three in May - Backlog Returns 3D
Two in April. Destroyin' Backlogs HD Edition
Three in March. Destroyin' Backlogs One Thread at a Time
Four in February, take a bite out of your backlog

My List:

Dishonored (PC)
The Swapper (PC)
Final Fantasy VII (PC)
Portal 2 (PC)

Additions

Papers, Please (PC)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)
Spelunky (PC)

I'm not sure if I can finish 4, but I'll go for:

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
Torchlight 2

The Swapper
Shin Megami Tensei IV

Bonus games completed:

Nightsky

I'm going to do it this month, I swear.

My list:
SMT IV
Crysis
Muramasa Vita
Rayman Origins

Extras:
Dragon's Crown
VLR

Here's to hopefully not failing this time around.

El Shaddai (Xbox 360) Meant to finish it in July but got sidetracked.
Sly 2: Band of Thieves (PS3)
Splinter Cell (PS3)
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men (PC)

SMT4
EO4
Strange Journey
Soul Hackers
Fire Emblem

I will choose ONE of these five and play the fuck out of it this month.

Last month was my first failed attempt at fulfilling the quota in months (only 3 out of 5 games beat) but this month I've already hit the ground running with The Last Story. After that I really ought to blaze my way through some of my Simon the Sorcerer games on GOG.com, and that should fulfill my quota!

Failed horribly last month, hopefully I can get some games done ASAP before university starts later this month.

My list:
New Super Luigi U
Pikmin 3
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor

This will be my first attempt at this. Each of these games have been started already. So I might add more if I finish early.

Ni no Kuni (PS3)
KH: 3D (3DS)
Heavy Rain (PS3)
Bastion (PC)

Yes! Gotta clean house before GTA V. Plus this month my kids go back to school and wife goes back to work, so I'll have more time to game.

Crysis 3
Bioshock: Infinite
Dishonored
Mark of the Ninja

I'm not sure if I can finish 4, but I'll go for:

Shin Megami Tensei IV
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
The Swapper
Torchlight 2

Isn't SMTIV super long?

35 hours according to HLTB http://www.howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=8426

Good luck guys! I'm playing FFVII which is 38 hours, but I've already got a fairly significant head start from July.

Back to work on Japanese releases and I guess SMTIV qualifies since it came out last month

Shin Megami Tensei IV [3DS]
Earth Seeker [Wii]
Ikenie no Yoru [Wii
428 [Wii]

Best case scenario I make it through the first three but I'll be happy if I can just make it through SMTIV and Earth Seeker.

38 hours for FFVII? I have to assume that's for 100% run because the main game is far shorter than that.

Going to:

finish Bioshock Infinite
rent and beat The Last of Us
start and beat Ni no Kuni
start and beat the ZOE HD collection
finish Guacamelee! on Vita

My list:

Demon's Souls
Pikmin 3
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Dragon's Crown

Would also like to get through Ducktales (definitely can finish it this month) and Tales of Xillia.

SMTIV
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
The Walking Dead
Tales of Vesperia

I'll have this as my preliminary list.

Thinking Ill handle:
-Virtues Last Reward
-Ico
-Shadow of the Colossus
-Spyro the Dragon

These, plus new releases:
-Pikmin 3
-Mario & Luigi Dream Team
-Saints Row IV
-Killer is Dead

I should be able to manage these...

I think I'll do:

Shadowrun Returns
Attack of the Friday Monsters
Ys: Ark of Napishtim

And then either The Last of Us or State of Decay, possibly both.

This would be my first time trying.

Pikmin 3
Sly Cooper 4:Thieves in Time (Already started)
Klonoa (Wii)
Journey (PS3)

I picked some shorter games, but I'm also playing Animal Crossing and Shin Megami Tensai IV simultaneously so I have to find time for them as well.

Summer doesn't mean shit for a full-time job :/

Look like I'm gonna fail again.... here it is

Project x Zone (3DS)
Super Robot Taisen OG2 (PS3)
Dragon Egg (PC-Engine)
Dokuro(Vita)

playing in the background

Animal Crossing NL
Civilization V

This is what I'm expecting so far:

Shadowrun Returns
Tomb Raider
Rogue Legacy
Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I'm expecting that last one to be replaced by Spelunky or DuckTales or some other game that comes out this month.

Goal is to get through a handful of indies I got A LONG TIME AGO but never played:

Currently on Mass Effect 2 PC (2nd run)

Mostly PC:

Hitman Absolution
Gucalmelee (SO EXCITED)
Rorcahard
Shank 2
Castlevania: Lord of Shadow

Pikmin 3, Luigis Mansion and Luigis Dream Team.

Okay, not a lot of indies but still hoping to find some laying around to play.

EDIT: also hoping to get a remote job SO PARTY UP IN HERE!

Alright, lets do this:

1) Resonance of Fate. On chapter 12 now; near the end. I'm confident I'll complete this game by the end of the month.
2) Shin Megami Tensei IV. Just got locked into the neutral route. Should be able to finish it.
3) 999. Just completed the "Safe" ending and now going to do the "True" ending.
4) Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. Managed to find a copy of this somehow :D. Will start soonish.
Bonus: Mario and Luigi Dream Bros. Will get the game this month.

Oh, it's actually shorter than I thought, I was figuring about 50. I'm already about 18 hours in from last month, so I think I have a chance. I think the one that will be hardest for me to complete is Torchlight 2, because I'm playing it co-op and have to work around schedules.

Challenge accepted!

My list:

1.) Pikmin 3
2.) Earthbound
3.) Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros.
4.) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Sounds good. I'm gonna shoot for:

Renegade Ops
Super Metroid (yep, shut up)
Torchlight
Saint's Row IV

Not sure how well I'll do with that, especially with Pikmin 3 and Mario & Luigi Dream Team eating up time too. Not sure if I'll buy those after renting them yet, but I'm definitely picking up Saint's Row IV.

EDIT: Forgot about Guacamelee coming to Steam in a week. That will likely take precedence over one of these.

My backlog is ridiculous right now.. All except for one on my first list are all fairly new games.. I've just been distracted by other games (usually just multiplayer stuff with friends that're not necessarily games that you complete) lately and haven't had a chance to really dive into them.

Deadpool (PS3)
Dead Space 3 (PS3)
Metro: Last Light (PS3)
Saints Row 3 (PS3)

Had a break from gaming recently after getting burnt out trying to tackle my backlog. I'm going for:
- Saints Row 3 (PS3) Started last month, but can't say I'm enjoying it very much 4-5 missions in.
- Just Cause 2 (PS3)
- Crysis 2 (PS3)
- Demon Souls (PS3) OR Rage (PS3) if I get too scared.

I only see this going sour for me, but oh well!

-SMTIV (haha yeah right)
-Dark Souls (360, beat the PC one previously)
-Sleeping Dogs
-Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

I was at around 19 hours when I beat it. I didn't do all the chocobo raising and only half of the side quests though. I would imagine somewhere around the mid twenties would be a more normal time.

Okay good. That makes it better than.

I struggle to finish these long RPGs anymore. Makes me wary of starting Xenoblade on Dolphin.

I kind of failed last month but this month I won't be denied!
Splinter cell chaos theory- about half way through I suspect
Portal 2 chapter 8 I think
Dead space 2
Splinter cell black list - still waiting
Beyond good and evil - im lost
Castlevania sotn - hard to get into
Crackdown- beat

I already know I'm going to be putting a lot of time into DOTA2 with the international happening. So this month for me is a cleanup. No new games, just finishing off stuff:

  • FF3 (DS) - On the final boss run, but will probably need a couple more hours
  • Trials HD (360) - Get a few achievements I'm missing and make it to (through?) hardest difficulty
  • Walking Dead - On episode 3
  • Animal Crossing: NL (3DS) - Fully upgrade my house
  • SF4:AE 2012 (360/PC) - This is the bonus round this month. Super out of practice. Will try and beat medium arcade with every character to freshen up.

Edit: Totally forgot about my unfinished Walking Dead game! Will probably swap out SSF4:AE for Walking Dead

Going to go with:

Final Fantasy VII
Dust: An Elysian Tail
The Swapper
Tomb Raider

All on steam of course. It's going to be tough with so many new August Releases that I plan to get and play, but I'm fairly confident on all except maybe FF7.

Going to finish Asura's Wrath tonight, as for my other games I'm wanting to tackle this month... I guess this will be my goal.

Asura's Wrath
Bastion
Gears of War 2
Rogue Legacy (this is dependent on me not sucking ass at the game when I give it another go, the first few hours I've spent with it were not very productive)

I'm trying to beat:

Torchlight II (starting it today..)
Bastion
BIT TRIP Runner 2
Rogue Legacy

I've finally cleared my 30+ Back log in the last five months. Only down to:

Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 3
Walking Dead 400 Days

I'll try to do those.

I failed miserably in July - didn't beat a single game.

4 in August seems doable especially if I just try to finish the games I played in July

So here it is

Resident Evil 6(360)
New Super Mario Bros Wii
Killzone 3
Shank 2(PC)

will also be working on

Rogue Legacy and Injustice Story mode

Ended up beating 12 games in July, but missed three from my original list. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up the pace even more this month. Anyway, here are my four:

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Picross e2
Ys II
Borderlands 2

I'm actually going to strive for five in August, and finish off my backlog of Wii games once and for all.

No More Heroes
Madworld
Wario Land: Shake It!!
Red Steel 2
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
