They still haven't updated (downgraded) their forecast for the Wii U? Oh dear, they must have big plans for the next six months.

300K shipment guess/prediction on the mark then.

Regional breakdown:
140k Japan
170K NA
-20K Europe/Other.

Still not revising that dumb forecast?

Oh, and still operating at a loss it seems. That 100 billion yen goal keeps getting further.

That 9.00M forecast is just for this fiscal year, right? They've only shipped 0.46M... no way this holiday season is going to add several millions.

I think so.

Someone turn those numbers into one word for us who lack an understanding.

Both the PS4 and Xbone should be at 3 or 4 million sold before the end of 2013, assuming they can manufacture enough of the things. If they can, they'll have caught the Wii U right at launch.

They want to sell 5 millions WiiU by March.
That is really ambitious.

edit: holy damn. Thanks to correct me but goals appear now to be straight out insane.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Not really suprising - they were still selling launch basic and premiums till the release of Zelda and its bundle.
This holiday season is the make or break tme for the WiiU - they have many bundles and options out there, if those doesnt help...well yeah.

Edit:

So what about 3DS and other sales performances ? I know its popular to focus on the negative information but some perspective would be appreaciated.

Someone turn those numbers into one word for us who lack an understanding.

Wii U is selling at 100k a month, PS3 and Xbox 360 were doing an average of 1 million a month. PS4 is theoretically selling 1 million day one.

Also Nintendo made 6 dollars in Net Income lol

Here's what Nintendo got to say about those results.

Nintendo continues to pursue its basic strategy of “Gaming Population Expansion” by offering compelling products that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age, gender or gaming experience. During the six months ended September 30, 2013, Nintendo continued to experience strong sales in the Japanese market for “Nintendo 3DS (3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS),” as “Tomodachi Collection,” released in April in Japan, marked 1.63 million units in sales, while there have also been hit titles from third-party publishers. In the overseas markets,“Animal Crossing: New Leaf,” released in June in the Unites States and Europe, sold 2.01 million units (2.49 million units worldwide), while titles such as “Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon,” released in the previous fiscal year, and “Mario & Luigi: Dream Team” and “Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D,” both released in the current fiscal year, showed steady sales. As a result, the global sales of the “Nintendo 3DS” hardware and software reached 3.89 million and 27.38 million units respectively. With respect to “Wii U,” Nintendo released the key first-party title “Pikmin 3” in July in Japan and Europe, and in August in the United States, as well as another key first-party title “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD” in September in Japan and the United States, but the global sales of the “Wii U” hardware and software reached only 0.46 million and 6.30 million units respectively. Regarding “Nintendo DS (DS, DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL),” the worldwide sales of its hardware and software were 0.10 million and 5.25 million units respectively. Also, the sales of the “Wii” hardware and software were 0.47 million and 14.90 million units respectively. Net sales as a result were 196.5 billion yen (of which overseas sales were 129.1 billion yen, or 65.7% of the total sales). The “Wii U” hardware still has a negative impact on Nintendo’s profits, owning mainly to its markdown in the United States and Europe, leading to a gross profit of 62.0 billion yen. The operating loss was 23.2 billion yen as total selling, general and administrative expenses exceeded gross profit due to enhancements in advertising activities to increase sales, and research and development for the “Wii U” software among others. As a result of exchange gains totaling 18.3 billion yen due to depreciation of the yen at the end of this period compared with the one at the end of the last fiscal year, ordinary income was 1.2 billion yen and net income was 0.6 billion yen

This is beyond horrible, I really hope it picks up soon.

I've grown to like this thing alot and want it to have atleast SOME success.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
The results are worse than I would of imagined.

Their inventories keep increasing. They are at over 2 Billion US $ worth of merchandise stocked.

Furthermore, the operating loss is much more pronounced than what was anticipated.

I am severely disappointed.

Better than last year, but still not good. It's a start though. The Wii U price cut however, only covers one week and only in America. Europe and Japan got it at the start of October so we'll see any results of that in the next financials.

It's a shame, the Wii U is a fantastic console. Each week over the next month, I have a new game to get for it, too.

The Wii U has proven that first month sales are irrelevant. The Wii U had a decent launch, it's just afterwards that it started faultering

No it reads 600 million yen so $6million
From FOREX speculation, IIRC.

And yet Nintendo still keeps their forecast for both Wii U shipments AND Operating Income intact.

Nintendo seriously believes they'll ship 8.54 million consoles in six months when they actually shipped negative consoles in Europe from the July-September period. Yeah...the company is being incredibly stubborn.

. 46 million shipped in two quarters and they want to get to 9 million tons from 4? Good luck. I hope they can turn it around, though I suspect the launch of Sony and Microsoft's systems will do good in drowning out sales.

The only good thing we can expect from this is panic Nintendo's emergency Nintendo Direct.

Why would they do that? It's ridiculous that people continue to think this will happen. They have shown their hand for the near future. They can't suddenly magic new games to exist, and if they reveal stuff too early, people will lose interest.

Yikes. But it's to be expected. Things will certainly pick up a bit when the major titles hit, but it's not going to be enough. There needs to be a paradigm shift.

Games don't come out of nowhere. They could show off things that they'll take two more years to finish, I guess.

I guess all hope for any kind of decent 3rd party support is lost? Or maybe there wasn't any hope from the start. I'm probably going to end up buying the dam thing anyway, that one JRPG looks great.

3DS hardware sales and software sales are on polar opposite tracks atm. Hardware sales are bad, software is great. Wonder if Pokemon is going to turn things around in the west.

It really is, but it's way too late. 3 months after its release people were already talking about the PS4, the conversation changed and so did people's attention. Nintendo didn't do themselves any favoures with the huge drought in good software.
