Just came out of Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Best action movie of 2015 already in the bag! If you've avoided any media, continue to do so. The action filmmaking is astounding. Lots of cheeky, darkly comic fun. There's a couple of scenes that are mindblowing The finale is incredible. Matthew Vaughn really outdid himself. The whip pans, rotates, and zooms without any loss of what's going on makes for some of the most kinetic action I've seen. There's one reverse car chase that just made me go "whuuuuuut". I found X-Men First Class merely serviceable as an action movie but hoped Vaughn would get back to the R-rated unpredictable intensity of Kick Ass and here he outdoes himself. Easily the best western action movie of recent times. Better than John Wick, Dredd, Crank, Kick Ass, Casino Royale, Bourne, and even Edgar Wright's action movies. Up there with the Raid movies. Saw in the credits that Brad Allan was the stunt coordinator so it makes sense the action choreography is so sublime.
Mark Strong and Samuel L Jackson are a joy to watch. The flex-foot cheetah Gazelle is not one to mess with. Just wish there was more time given to Roxy. Colin Firth is an absolute badass. There's one battle scene with him that is just "oh my god", either he's up in the action or the editing with the stuntmen is so brisk that you believe it's him. Warmed up to Taron Egerton as the street smart aleck "chav Bond". I'm pretty sure he's actually doing the parkour in an early scene or the camerawork and editing is just that convincing.
Most of all, it's just well intentioned good fun with a heart, and all about teamwork no matter what your background is.
Don't think any action movie in 2015 will touch it. Doubt the next James Bond or superhero movies will even have a chance, with how bloated those things can be. This is just super tight and goes at a breakneck pace even if it's 129 minutes. Hope this does really well.
