The Order: 1886 - New Gameplay Footage Released Before Embargo

Is there something wrong with this game's image quality or something? That's the only aspect of the graphics that resolution would change, and this game should look extremely crisp on my 1080p display.

Dailymotion is 480p i think.

Wait it can hit 1080. I need to rewatch.

Gameplay does look a bit "too standard" but I remain optimistic that the supernatural stuf will make things more exciting.

Does this bother anyone else?

That brick jutting out perpendicular to the building severs only as a place to take cover.

Unfinished wall maybe? It's a slum, and there's lumpy concrete on top of the wall.

I'm more bothered by the lack of ambient occlusion in the corners where both the small wall and the alley wall meet. Ah well, early-ish footage. Apparently they've improved since the reveal trailer, I'm sure there's time to polish up for launch.

2560x1440 metro 2034 doesnt look better than this? mMMkay

Maybe it does, but it hasnt been released yet since it is Metro 2033 or Metro Last Light. 2034 doesn't exist.

Regardless, Res is only one part of the equation. I am not that bothered above 1080p personally because i haven't got a big monitor. Modelling, lighting and effects look better to me here than either of the two games you listed.

In terms of expansive environments, this is London so they could base a level in Regent's or St James Park or some such. Otherwise, some of the main boulevards are pretty big. It seems like it is rendering large environments like in stuff like Ryse and Uncharted, you are just not going to be able to explore them freely.

Wall for what in the alley? Just because it's dressed up doesn't mean it's necessarily there for anything other than gameplay.

They can tell me its all in-game until they're blue in the face, but why not just release some actual gameplay, instead of a confusing mashup of custscenes and in game footage? I'm not saying I don't believe them (I do), but all I got from this trailer was in-game cutscenes and bland cover shooter. They must have better material to release on this than "2 guys talking to each other", and "some guy behind cover in an incredibly narrow alleyway shooting a rifle"

Cos GTA V was so good and he worried if he could make a game THAT good. Now hes striving for photorealism and this comes along looking mighty fine
I think he'll be all right, this time. The FOX engine looks pretty good on the new consoles. That night time sneaking footage sealed the deal for my eyes anyway. Let's hope he'll give us the option to sneak into a base at night with the area bathed in moonlight.

I am sure this looks much better first hand than on DM. And with the time they still have...this is going to look real pretty.

Norhing wrong with a good third person shooter. Whether or not this will be a good one remains to be seen, but it certainly looks the part. Absolutely gorgeous.

Can someone explain to me the hate for QTEs? I often seen this complaint across GAF but I don't understand it.

I've played enough games with their incorporation to not mind them. Then again I enjoyed Heavy Rain so maybe they just are not as "offensive" to me.

QTEs are not interesting gameplay. They are essentially a way to make you feel you are still playing the game while watching a cutscenes. It's minimal interactivity because they couldn't figure out a way to let you actually play it. I'd rather have it run by itself than hammering on buttons, which is not fun at all.

Gears of War, Uncharted (its a TPS, as much as an adventure game)

Gears of War had multiplayer and Uncharted 1 wasn't a system seller at all. Gears sold 3 million in ten weeks. UC sold 2.8m in two years.

Try again.

I'd like a special feature where you can turn on in-game commentary with the guy from that video, and he'll teach us things like whether or not airships existed in 1886 and if monsters might be real.

Visually Looks good but this little gameplay doesn't get me exciting. DAT QTE
"DAT QTE" was at least a little bit different as you had switch between points of interest and choose what you would use against the enemy, if I didn't completely misunderstand how that situation worked.

Graphics and art style are on-fucking-point!
Looking forward to seeing more gameplay footage. Open the flood gates.

To be completely honest, the weird duality between CG and gameplay is kind of confusing from how the guy in the video described it. If there is true parity as they say... why have CG at all? Seems like he's biting into the PR. Obviously the actual game won't look as good but it's a damn good place to start before they get to final optimization (if that is gameplay we're seeing).

It's still a QTE at the end of the day.

It will certainly balance out the testosterone overload from the way-cool moustaches and trenchcoats.

For blocking off a different part of the alley? I don't know how 19th century English town planning went. What do you want the wall to be for?

Right after Galahad's landing I can't help but notice that foot clipping. Still gorgeous physics though.

its not hard to believe this stuff is in game, there are games already out that looks better than this.

It's beautiful, but I am pretty disappointed at what's been shown by the melee so far...

2) A "Branching QTE" finisher system is flashy but unless there are tangible consequences for choosing one option over another, it's useless for gameplay

Hopefully it's deeper than it looks in that video but I'm not holding my breath.

How you know there are not tangible consequences for choosing one option over another?.

That's what it looked like, yes, but being able to pick from multiple QTE animations doesn't make this any less shallow, especially if both QTE's end up accomplishing the same thing.

edit for the poster above: I don't know if they do have tangible consequences (picking one QTE over the other) but until we see differences I'm not holding my breath, mainly because the gameplay looks generic enough for this to probably be the case.

That's not what I'm saying, I'm saying, if you're releasing gameplay, release actual gameplay, in a way that we can tell what the game is like. I would rather see that than "ooh look how pretty"

I vehemently hate shooters but this game looks so dam appealing every time I am browsing the footage. Story trumps everything for me though so I have faith in RAD after their GOW foray. I wish we had more footage, the atmosphere seems to be great too :(
