The Order: 1886 - New Gameplay Footage Released Before Embargo

The graphics were all over the place from impressive to rough. Not much new gameplay shown but what they did show was incredibly bland. Coming off of this reveal I have zero hype for this game. This game seems be trying to sell itself primarily on just graphics, when the graphics themselves aren't worth it and that's a flawed idea to begin with.

As if you actually believe any of what you wrote. But keep at it!

Not impressed. For a corridor game @ 30 FPS and 21:9 it should look better. But I'm sure these are not final graphics and the devs will pack on more postprocessing as well for release.

Better than what though? Theres nothing to compare it too.

Yeah, all that marketing that has happened and the close release date would tend to indicate they are selling it only on graphics... :/

Guys with guns are fine. You are missing the point. We want a gunplay/mellee mix of heaven that feels like it's practically begging to have the player come play with it.

This was truly an awesome game, Mikami surely knows how to make games and I totally respect him for that...

I didnt say its not possible, Its just much harder to do than it was before due to so many games out there that has already "locked" it down and set the bar for what is good gun play in a game. Unless we get a NEW controller that does not have analog sticks and buttons then yes we will see new ways of interacting with the characters we play.

You can only do so much with a controller that has looked the same for all these years.

I'm not taking about innovation necessarily, just on how your post read to me as if we shouldn't expect new gameplay ideas. You don't need a new controller to keep gameplay fresh.

What kind of wizards work at Ready at Dawn?! This looks incredible! Hyped for the trailer later.

Love the setting and am hoping for superb gameplay.

what part of the graphics are rough?

honestly

do you think this game would run on ps3/360?

It's also impossible to tell by this short trailer if the gameplay is 'fresh' or not, once it all comes together in the final game. Yes, there are guns and there will be some use of cover. That's pretty much all we know so far, and if that is enough to write off a game, well, then all TPS games in the future are doomed I guess.

What we know for sure though is that the game is absolutely breathtaking visually.

Did that thread also have people pretending to not be impressed? My memory fails me.

Wow chill out man.

Many of the textures look very low res and I don't see much variation in surface materials. Maybe it's the foggy area that's supposed to look heavily diffused and without strong lights, hard to say yet.

You are a game programmer? Mind to tell us on which game you are working on, so we can see how its properly done!

Please tell us what next gen gameplay is or should be? Keep hearing this complain again and again in 1886 threads. Maybe you should make a "next gen" gameplay game so we all know.

Also not much has been shown and this game has months to be cooked to perfection

Next gen should be something unpredictable for simple commentators like us.
Hopefully and rightfully so

Okay, some of you aren't even trying anymore.

This build is severely old, as stated by insiders here. Even saying that, the game is gorgeous.

I was only talking about the typical shooter type gun controlled characters you play as in various games. its pretty hard to do anything better than what has already been done with the current controller setup.

But obviously its possible, and we should expect gameplay to be fresh, but not all games NEED to be innovative here, it still works great if the gameplay is sort of the same as in another game. Just look at uncharted and The last of us, they didnt do anything new gameplay wise, they just told the story amazingly well, set up the scenes very well and gave us a visual experience like never before.

well sorry were so excited

i mean your right, after investing $400 in this new system we just have so many awesome next gen games to be playing on it, i agree i have NO idea why we are so excited for this

Sorry for the rant, im going to go finish Tomb Raider DE

I did a bad job of getting my point across. I meant to express the opinion that the people complaining about the game's mechanics and game-play have their expectations set too high.
It was always meant to wow with visuals and atmosphere, not by breaking new ground in game design.

ITT: people somehow surprised that a third person shooter looks like a third person shooter.

Looks freaking amazing. These graphics are crazy, and I actually like how close in the camera is--it makes the action seem more immediate, somehow.

Lol at the Ryse comparisons and PC dick measuring...

These people give us blue balls for a year and this is the shit they show?

I guess they are counting on gaming media to fill in with previews, but yeah. What's wrong with lengthy gameplay clips?

Feels more like a real movie trailer than a game which is cool.

Right. I get that they are going for the movie angle, and I can dig that. But it's still a game (I hope), so show some god damn gameplay.
