I think the problem here is everyone has different definitions of "timely manner." You considering 20-30 minutes a timely manner to get a response after I've already told someone the item is theirs is batshit insane to me.

You misunderstand, I'm saying if I responded to the person who pm'd me inquiring about an item within 20-30 mins, then I'd assume he'd have gotten the message and if after a few hours (in my case I'd probably wait 4ish) I didn't get a response, then I'd go to someone else.

As new information has come to light though (the seller himself took an hour and a half to respond, and then only waited 2 hours), I'd say he was in the wrong. But to address the original point, no he shouldn't receive negative feedback, because that's not how the feedback system was intended to be used.

Thats the story. Its not THAT big of a deal and tossing around his name is going to give him bad rep so lets just let it go.

Yea, I'm done selling here. Which is crazy because I've been nothing but an outstanding seller and have really given Neogaf some solid deals on stuff just because it's GAF. But alas I do not agree with people saying I need to get negative feedback for this, so I'm taking my ball and going somewhere else to play.

\A transaction didn't pan out. I also didn't get the game from Coldsnap because he didn't want to fill out an extra block on the shipping paperwork to ship it to where I live

Oh common man, I can't possibly ship a game to Germany for $3.00.

If this is really what he expected he should piss right the fuck off.

I messaged him because he said he was looking for BD. He replied Yes he is and he is in Germany and asked if this would be a problem, I replied sorry it would be too expensive to ship to Germany at that price, to which I never got a reply. But the price was $33 which $3-6 would be shipping expenses. So him saying I didn't sell it to him because of not wanting to put an extra line in the zip code is a bit miss-leading.

Anyways, lets get on with our day guys and you all get back to buying and selling. No one lost money and more time was wasted discussing this than on the actual failed transaction.

Yeah I feel like you were unfairly targeted, hope you will reconsider sometime, don't let a few bad apples ruin your day. Good luck to ya!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up. Not trying to be a drama llama, but no, you're taking this the wrong way. You know for darn sure I never even once suggested that you ship it for 3 bucks. I will post PMs. That did, in no way, shape, or form, happen. Period.

But you said you weren't willing to ship it to Germany, which is fine. This is why I asked before sending money. Some people don't want to go through the hassle. Last I checked the buyer pays shipping, so it would've cost you precisely zero dollars. Again, it wasn't that big of a deal and I moved on to a different seller elsewhere.

My story wasn't that Coldsnap is a bad person, I honestly don't know how you saw it that way. The point was that, for whatever reason, sometimes sales don't work out and you shouldn't take it personally.

That's unfortunate. Don't let DJ Lushious discourage you from selling.

Coincidentally he called me out for self-policing this thread, and now he wants the rules changed?

SUPER POSITIVE FEEDBACK for seller kick51: sold me an Aeropress expresso/coffee maker for a nice price, and then shipped the item quickly and safely. Great communication and all-around nice person. Another great transaction with another terrific GAF'er.

Also, I'm throwing in another glowing recommendation for the Aeropress: using the brewing method that ReXXXSoprano suggested (which came from Stumptown Coffee Roasters), I've now produced the best testing homemade coffee I've had in my nearly 35 years of life. No more spending $2-$3 per cup at a decent coffee house: I can now match the same quality at home for a fraction of the price, but with the added benefit of a 100% decrease in having to deal with hipsters and/or fedoras. Amazing how a device that is seemingly so simple can produce such an incredible drink in the comfort of my own kitchen.

Kind of off topic. But, does anyone know about filing a paypal complaint? I've never done it before and I'm kind of confused.

I bought something off of someone on the Nintendo Age forums a month ago, they never shipped it and have seemingly vanished. Opened the claim on paypal last week. Still haven't heard from the guy. But, the status bar has me kind of confused:

The status shows "being reviewed by PayPal" as if the seller (other party) has already responded. I don't see anything else telling me he actually has, though. Do you not get to see what their response is or what? He put in a tracking number weeks ago that shows he never actually dropped it off at the post office, so I don't know what his response could be other than "yep, I never shipped it..."

This shit is why you don't use gift payment. The guy had nothing but positive feedback over there (though he only had three). Annoying.

Positive feedback for seller sladeums. Sold me a 3DSXL for an great price and even accepted a payment method not listed in his auction. Add to that the super fast shipping and excellent packaging and I'd definitely buy from again! Thanks!

From what I gather, PayPal automatically escalated the claim due to the lack of response on the seller's part.

Gift payments have their merits, and frankly, are less ironclad than one would be led to believe.

At the end of the day, feedback is only but a small demonstration of reliability. There's been many instances, both here and elsewhere, of perfectly good sellers just suddenly going bad for apparently no reason whatsoever.

It's just the luck of the draw, so to speak. Sad to say, but your only real defense is just proper preparation and documentation against such users.

I've filed many complaints on paypal and have always received a refund.

Paypal always sides with the buyer, as a seller of anything, you are pretty much on the losing side - unless you have irrefutable proof that you did ship an item. It all depends as well on how much was the item. as I recall, anything more than 100 dollars or so is taken into account seriously, 500 and above very seriously.

I wonder what counts as irrefutable proof to them. I've never heard of a seller winning, even with full tracking, the buyer seems to be able to say "but the box just had rocks" and win.

pictures of you actually putting said item in the box, or a video of you actually putting the item in the same box with markings that denote that it is the same exact box, then when you ship the item to the post office it is the same exact box.

Positive feedback to Miker! The user was able to ship the game off once the money was sent and the game showed up in the condition was that was mentioned!

WTB: Bravely Default (it can be the regular version)

WTS: The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia Download Code - $5
Radiata Stories (missing manual; has a sticker on the back of case) - $18
Xenosaga Episode 1 (missing manual) - $11 shipped
Xenosaga Episode 2 (CIB, but has Gamestop stickers) - $16 shipped
Xenosaga Episode 3 (CIB, but has Gamestop stickers) - $60 shipped
or if you want all three of them, I'll let you have them for $85 shipped

I'm judging the prices of the games based on the prices of them on Amazon at the moment, but if you would like to negotiate prices, then we can discuss them

I'll pay with and I'll take PayPal and I ship in the USA

This happened to me recently as a seller. I shipped item, tracking was provided, showed as delivered, but buyer said he never received it and filed a claim. I won the initial claim as it showed it was delivered. Then buyer filed an "item not as described claim" which was a total dick move. He won that claim.

I called PayPal directly to see what was going on and the agent told me that the buyer said the box was empty.

I have multiple email conversations, forum posts, all kinds of stuff to dispute that and the agent appealed the case for me, I took screenshots of all our conversations, uploaded them as evidence, provided a link to the forum where the initial sale happened and won the case.

Buyers will always receive the benefit of the doubt even if they are the ones trying to scam you, but assuming as a seller you are truthful, it is possible to win a claim. Just need to have the facts to prove it, call PayPal, be kind and respectful, and they will be more than willing to help you.

With that said:

WTB:

Xbox One Wireless Controller. New/Like New $30 or less Shipped

I sold an unlocked iPhone 4 and an 3GS on eBay once (friend upgraded and said he's let me keep a nice cut of the money) and wanting to get him the most cash, I allowed overseas buyers. Sold one to a dude in Russia, one to an Italian dude.

Russian guy, no problem!

Italian guy says he received the packaged and it was OPENED BY CUSTOMS and they swiped the iPhone and left the empty box. Like, flatout, said it was stolen by customs on his end. Still filed the fucking PayPal claim and they sided with him, even though it was obviously not my fault in any way, shape or form. Luckily the Italian post office told USPS that the guy brought it back "in opened condition" and admitted they had inspected it.

This, kids, if why you always buy insurance. I got the money back a few months later from the USPS, but that would have sucked if they didn't side with me, back then unlocked iPhones shipping overseas earned you about $600 a pop.
