The worst part is that what they removed wasn't even dynamic lighting. It was all lightmapped :/
That footage is from before the downgrade. Unless there's a major disparity between the 360 and PS3 versions I doubt the latter was spared.

This is the main reason I'm conflicted about picking up the PS3 version. Waiting until April 25th is going to be tough, and I'd love to be in the dark with (mostly) everyone else, but I've completely lost my taste for the DS3 controller.
No black Knights I don't think. He found it in a chest. Different stat reqs from DS1. 17str and 26 dex lol. Haven't seen the moveset yet.

Definitely. I'd consider getting that version instead, but my 360's HDMI port hasn't worked for around a year.

yeah, what are you guys doing? you're going to diminish your own sense of enjoyment and discovery with the game just to sate your curiosity a few days earlier. It's not logical! A souls game only comes around every few years. SAVOR it.

I think people are complaining about the environment lighting more than anything.
Seems to me like most of these streamers have their brightness/gamma settings messed up though, making things look washed out and way worse than it actually looks.
Either way, I think the graphics still look damn good, and that's not even the best part of the souls games. People gonna complain no matter what though lol.
I'm willing to bet the dude that bottom pic came from had his brightness WAY up, and it looks way better in reality (though not as good as top pic).

Pure mechanics question, no weapons/areas/enemies spoilers:
So is it true that every level up raises your HP? Does this make the Vigor stat (which raises HP) the the equivalent of Dark Souls' Resistance?
Different people looking for different things from the game. While I enjoy the lore and single player, PvP is my bread and butter. For that, information is the greatest weapon and very time sensitive in the launch weeks. Planning and building a character and fighting other players is what I'm looking forward to. While they're certainly cool as hell, I don't get a particular sense of awe when I see a new boss or fall into a trap so it doesn't matter to me whether I see it on someone's stream or on my own TV first.
Levelling raises hp by 10 (i think) vigor gives bunch more than that, not sure how much exactly. I think 20 vigor will be enough for builds looking for heavy investment in 2 or more of adp/str/dex/int/fai as 20 is its soft cap

How about all those who are watching streams post in the Spoiler thread and leave this one exclusively for mag reviews until the game lands? I'm sure it's too tempting to vent your awe around here, but there's a reason why that other thread exists.

I might start going Joan Crawford by reporting people to mods if they can't follow simple directions. There is a Spoiler Thread on the OT where you can post Unmarked spoilers. Here every spoiler must be marked with spoiler marks. (At least for the first month or two)

Brightness doesn't get rid of shadows, AO nor geometry. The lighting in that scene is completely different.

Indeed. Was the old 360 build ever shown for that area? Perhaps they had to downgrade lighting for performance. It could well have been a "PS3 build" and was intended to be run on PS3 but was actually on a PC.

Ehhh he is spoiling an enemy someone might have not expected to happen. It is a spoiler and some people can complain about it. I'm just trying to control things a bit before bigger spoilers get dropped in here when there is an existing thread for it. I've seen the streams and all but I find it unfair to spoil people who want to go on full black out on it.

Well those items, it seems like they're found on preset locations only (not a fact at all, don't quote me on that). You use them to
activate mechanisms here and there that can be either good or bad (you know From likes to troll you).
So the reason I want more of them is because I don't know if their number is strictly limited per playthrough or not, so I want to get at least one more in the inventory. You never know when you might need them.
People commenting on and watching streams should be in the spoiler thread. There's absolutely no reason to do that here.

Yep, same here. I consumed Dark Souls streams before it came out and enjoyed it all the same... immensely so. It will be the same scenario here.
Oh, I wasn't defending the spoiler or anything haha. I just skimmed over it so I didn't really see and comprehend what it was. But yeah thanks for trying to keep spoilers away from people who want to black out (me!)
And great job on the OT by the way! Looks awesome.

I've pumped 5 hours into the game tonight. Taken out two bosses and have some good equipment.
I've had the PS3 CE preordered for months now... I've been playing the 360 version and it plays great... Haven't run into any serious screen tearing and the lighting is honestly fantastic.
I look forward to replaying all this on Tuesday when I pick it up for PS3.

Jesus the opening cinematic definitely looks next gen on my tv. I know it's not gameplay but going from ps4 to ps3 wasn't so bad after watching that.
I played for about an hour tonight and man that emotion. The feeling of being genuinely afraid again. It's so real. I'm glad I didn't watch any preview videos or streams becuase I have no idea what's around any corner.

I'm glancing over this last page and it's nothing but stream link begging, spoiler tags for a game that's not out yet, or complaints about people fucking up spoiler tagging. If you're going to discuss stream shit, go to the spoiler thread.
