'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

I'm tentatively down. Need to see how much of an improvement they've made to the visuals. Hoping for some comparison videos and screens before release.

Being the ps3 swansong I'm a touch conflicted about this release. Financially it fully makes sense.

Financially this is good for Sony but I am not going to pay $60 when I just purchased it 8 months ago for the same price.

I find it annoying how people are beyond excited about this announcement. If MS tried this double dip stunt the Sony Pony's on this site would be blasting them.

It would've been better if there was a remaster of SOCOM.

good news that game prices drop over time.

I still have to play Left Behind, so of course i'll double dip.
Whether i'll get it at D1 or not, however, depends on how drastic the visual improvements are, they don't sound too dramatic, but i'll wait for a comparison.

Either way, i'm happy this game is getting the HW it deserves to shine.

I wish 'gameplay' improvements meant some remixed enemy encounters. More infected vs bandit 3 way fights (like we saw in Left Behind) would be great.

If price is an issue just wait till its cheaper. neeeeiigh!!

This won't move units but it is definitely a plus for current owners whom are in the drought.

I don't think many people ignored TLOU because it wasn't on a next gen console. If you wanted it, you got it for PS3.

considering getting a PS4 just to play this, dat 60fps and 1080p my god it will be glorious

.

This will move consoles...especially for many 360 only owners last gen.

Give a discount to the people who have an end-game trophy from the PS3 version and i might buy it. Otherwise it's just too expensive for a remaster imo.

Must buy for people who haven't played it yet.

No mention of 60fps? Meh :/ Skipping this for now, already played through the game once on ps3 so not worth full price to experience it again at just a higher resolution and a few other things.

I'd be surprised if it's 60. They're probably doing an incredible-looking Uncharted 4, with more ambitious visuals than The Order 1886, so I'd expect that to be 30fps too. If TLOU was 60, and then their first PS4 game was 30, people would question it.

If TLOU is a locked 30, that's already an improvement on the rather variable PS3 version. And 1080p is significant, and it sounds like they're tidying up a bunch of things that all add to the image quality.

Then Uncharted 4 will come along, and if it's 60, then great, but if it's 30, then that's fine too.

I don't think 1080p is that significant on its own. If that was all they were doing with it, it would hardly be worth it. Sure, it would look a little bit sharper, but the overall look of the game wouldn't change that much. I would expect some decent graphics improvements for full price.

I have the game on PS3 but haven't played much of it yet
only until Tess dies
. I also have a PS4.

Is there any noticeable improvement over the PS3 version? It already looked good (graphically as it is).

Definitely getting this again for PS4, play and still own the PS3 version when it came out last year. I don't mind the price, a digital discount for us who already own it would be cool, but I doubt it will happen. My older brother hasn't played it yet, so I'll just get the PS4 version for him.

I never owned a PS3 long enough to get to enjoy The Last of Us. However, I do own a PS4 now so this is super exciting news! I can't wait to finally play this game!

It's over, period. Sony lost their last ace, and that's the end of their PS3 hopes and dreams.

It's not hyperbole, it's not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for PS3. Sony has nothing left, nothing they can reveal tomorrow would fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for any one, hardcore or casual, to substantively invest in a PS3. Except if they want to play Persona 5. Which will also come to PS4 at some point.

The age of Sony is done.

Of course it would benefit stylistically, many people that have a preference for 60 FPS and it just is a closer representation to reality. Too bad that so many titles are 30 FPS, or even lower, that people are not used too much to seeing 60 FPS games.
But its not reality, its entertainment.

I'm not anti 60FPS in general, I just dont think it fits here. Keep it for my shooters and racers, but TLoU is styled to look like a film.

I dont know about you but I hated The Hobbit in 48FPS.
