Since it seems like Monday and Tuesday are the slowest days of the week, might as well take the chance to break out the NEW ANIMEGAF SURVEY I've been wanting to post for a while now. Kind of a mix of some questions from previous ones (since there's a lot of new people around and some stuff might have changed) plus a few new ones.

So a double-butchering. Yikes. No thanks, especially seeing as how it can't look as good as the OVAs (shitty CG aside).

CR said this was expiring this week, so as soon as I found out it was both fanservicey and had half-length episodes, I watched the whole thing tonight. Both the half-length and the degree of explicitness are clearly from a different era of late night anime. Yukari's backstory was a little iffy, as was the memory erasure that went on, but the rest of the show was premium Satoru Akahori. His style of eros and comedy is, I'd say, representative of that late 90s-early 2000s period. The actual heists were also not bad, and I liked the bit of fourth wall breaking with Halko Momoi in the finale. As an anime, average, but it was a good way to spend a few hours.

One of two last summer's magical girl bonus episodes tonight. The relationship between Akari and Fuyuna was central to the series, so seeing it actually play out in this bonus episode (the fact that it didn't come on the last volume is telling) enhances the series. Luna gets some fleshing out, too. Since the tarot stuff is at a minimum, the tone isn't really an issue. I don't remember Fuyuna being a novelist either. Now her death's even more tragic.
Hyperdimension Neptunia 13
But making Genei my final episode of the night would be too sad. And I loved every minute of this. Neptunia was one of my favorite shows of the previous summer, and this had everything I could've wanted. Some retro video game jokes, a touching reunion, a wicked transformation sequence for Peashy (Aoi Yuki really sounds like Hibiki when Yellow Heart's on screen) and some symmetrical docking. Super fun time, and while I know the chances of it getting another anime are slim, I can dream.

I wish most CG Mecha as shitty as in Break Blade movies.

Maison Ikkoku 47
Just when you think the tenants are becoming more tolerable, you have episodes like this. Godai's utter spinelessness and the obnoxiousness/selfishness of the tenants is pretty infuriating here. One day Godai needs to snap and tell off all these assholes. This really feels like an episode that belonged earlier in the series, when Godai was getting abused far more heavily.

My hate for spineless protagonists and slow moving romance might keep me from fully enjoying Maison Ikkoku if I try to watch it
The flipside of that is we get godawful shit like School Days. Is that what you want, Woofington? The end of civilization as we know it?

There is some potential for a School Days outcome in Maison Ikkoku. Godai's been "dating" a girl he doesn't like for several years despite being in love with someone else. He doesn't seem to mind stringing her along endlessly and only bothers to think about making his feelings clear because she sometimes inconveniences him.
Just a warning, while the show shifts gears for the better in episode 53, episodes 58-62 are a black mark on the series.

Mouse was kind of fun but not very good. I watched it in anome club and it does have Goddess Halko in it. The ED is particularly masterful. M-m-mous-e!

then you have yet to see some of the best gintama last second trolling. It truly is the best show for last minute twists that just ruin any sad/sweet tales and make you burst out with laughter. Fucking great show.

Last ep or two is super cathartic though. Despite the drop in quality post-L, I was super pissed for the longest while because I thought Light was going to get away with it.
Im not sure if Id say that.
Light kinda set himself up for failure so it was a bit disappointing the way it ended. He seemed too smart to go out that way

Good episode! It was slow, yeah, but I wouldn't really count that as a complaint. It was slow in a good, well-considered way that gave plenty of time for the characters to breathe and the world to be established. As a result it was a nicely smooth introduction to the world and central players of the story in a naturalistic way that worked really well for me.
It's nice to see an older protagonist in an anime for once, and one based on an LN. Actually, how old is Lawrence supposed to be? He has gray hair, but he doesn't really seem old enough for that. Anyway, seems like a good character. Intelligent and (presumably) a shrewd merchant, but pretty socially hopeless and lonely. If only he could appreciate the waifus that keep falling into his lap! And Holo seems feisty and fun. Looking forward to seeing their relationship develop.
I like how the world, despite looking and feeling very western fantasy, still feels Japanese. After all we've got animal spirits and the like. Of course, the church is trying to squash 'em, but such is life for nature spirits in vaguely European Japanese settings!
