It's the resolution of 4K tvs no?
Yes, I know. So I said it makes more sense when we talk about textures, and in any case, is in screen resolutions which makes no sense.
It's the resolution of 4K tvs no?
So Loore, wink once for yes and wink twice for no..
Any of those tracks in the game?
-Mosport
-Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve
-Circuit Mont-Tremblant
-Road Atlanta
So there's damage and tire wear, but no pit stops? Eh, that's a red flag for me.
Too skeptical on this after the trailer and GRID as a whole. I know TOCA 3 wasn't a pure sim, but GRID was also one of the worst handling games I've played, so I don't know. I'm glad you're going back to the roots, but I'll still wait until it's out before making any decisions.
You know what, that's cool. The thing about racing games that a lot of the time you can only tell so much after playing them and we totally get that.
Once you've played it if you think it's still not for you then that's great, we hope to cross paths somewhere down the line, if you do like it, then welcome aboard.
Let me know what you think once you've taken it for a spin
Codies, will customization/upgrades/tuning play a part in the game?
Just look at the game. It's running on the Grid 2 engine with some improvements - it's a last-gen title. If Grid 2 came to PS4, you'd expect it to be 60fps. This is no different. The vehicles have nowhere near the detail of current-gen titles, nor do the environments - Forza being the obvious example at the moment, and the upcoming DriveClub and Project CARS. And even those are hitting (or aiming for) 60fps.
The PS4/One would easily run this game at 60fps.
Will open wheel racing legend Rick "The Ricker" Peterson be in the game?
Codies, will customization/upgrades/tuning play a part in the game?
It's like quarter to six here in the UK so Loore might have gone home.
In the blog they mentioned being able to set some tuning options, about two thirds down I think.
Definite preorder for me. Just had one question is there going to be DLC?
Can you kindly share the uncompressed footage
If Codemasters couldn't make this game run at 60fps on a PS4/One, it would be an embarrassment. Even at 60fps, it would not be able to compete visually with the new generation of racers, so they're not going to do it. You're suggesting that they'd launch a game that is not competitive visually, and make it not competitive in terms of framerate?People keep saying this but we've seen that this isn't the case for every last-gen port, however shit you think last-gen games look or how good you think these consoles are you are never garanteed 60fps, even for something like the last of us you'll hear them say ''we're targeting 60fps'' not ''it's 60fps, duh''.

Customisation - yes, we've improved the livery editor in GRID 2
Upgrades - yes
Tuning - yes
I'm not sure what you're arguing about - I'm certainly not asking for it on console, and Codemasters have just stated that they have no plans to do so. All I'm saying is that it would be embarrassing if a racing game with assets optimised for 360/PS3 didn't run at 60fps on the newer hardware. Tomb Raider is an unreasonable comparison, as it is less critical to have a locked 60 in an action game, and they wanted to justify the 'definitive' status with a bunch of visual upgrades. TR could have been comfortably 60 - disabling TressFX would have been a good start - that single feature halved the performance on many PCs. But they kept it in because "it was always about pushing ourselves, our tech, and wanting to create an unprecedented level of detail as our first steps towards a next-gen Lara". Racing games have a different set of priorities - a solid framerate is (usually) higher up the list. Why aren't games like TR running at a locked 60frames a second when you have stuff like Killzone and Infamous on the system that completely blow it the fuck away, fact is you are not ensured 60fps on consoles with ports like this, sooner you realize that the less dissapointed you'll get.
You don't have a PS3 kicking around somewhere?Didn't play Grid 2 because of no cockpit view.
Can't play Grid Autosport because of no current gen version.
I can't win :/
Hmm, I could play another GRiD. Really liked the first one, didn't play the second.
Though, and maybe I just don't "get" motorsport here, I'd prefer if they didn't do the same real-world locations we've already played in so many racing games already. Make some fresh ones. I don't wanna do Le Mans, Nurnburgring etc again.
man that 60fps trailer is so boss, looks so sharp compared to the first game

'But' at 60fps? You can be sure that if Codemasters decided to put Grid: Autosport on PS4/One, it would be 60fps.
Replaced two weeks ago with a new Xbone w/ Forza and handed down to a friend as an upgrade from their Foreman Grill launch PS3. I'm all current gen, all the time now.You don't have a PS3 kicking around somewhere?
While I'm certainly interested to see how this turns out and it sounds like they are making the right moves for the Grid franchise, I can't help but be disappointed that they seem to be ditching the handling model from Grid 2.
While the handling in Grid 2 was far more arcadey than most people expected (probably moreso than PGR even) and I get why people were disappointed with it in a Grid game, for what it was, I LOVED the heavy emphasis on drifting combined with the supreme amount of control you had at all times. While not all that realistic as a whole, it was extremely engaging and thrilling from moment to moment in a way that most racing games don't come close to.
I just hope that a version of Grid 2 handling can return someday, maybe in a new franchise? Ideally for me Codemasters would have Grid and Dirt being more sim-focused racers in their various disciplines, F1, and then a more arcadey PGR-like game with the drift-heavy control that Grid 2 had.
I'm afraid your points don't change my 'bullshit' view. Grid Autosport would be 60fps on current gen consoles. It is very easy to get recent Codemasters' games running at 60 on very modest PCs. To suggest otherwise, with this unnecessary 'evidence' regarding ports of action games, is severely underrating Codemasters' coding ability. They would make it so, or not do it at all. They are choosing the latter, probably because it would take a bit of work, and once it was running at 60, it still wouldn't look that great compared to the other racing games on the new platforms - that much is clear from the nice 60fps version of the trailer. It looks good, but it's not going to blow minds on the visual side when you put it next to Forza, DriveClub, PCARS, etc.It would surely be 60fps even though we know that isn't the case for many of these games being ported to current-gen.
The hair tech in TR btw is not only more optimized but also less costly cause it doesn't render as many strains of hair as on the pc, add to that no real tesselation and lesser textures in places means it's just a bad port overal, it's also not like it's using tress-fx on every character, TR in it's current form on Ps4 should run 60fps locked, but it doesn't, 60fps is never a sure thing on consoles, ever.
Racing games used to run @ 60fps pretty regularly but looking back at the last console generation most of the racing games run at a shoddy 30fps, it wasn't a priority for 8 years, why would they suddenly start making it one now? Driveclub still 30fps? If so that just proves that 30fps is here to stay for racing games even though that has little to do with this thread or this discussion.
In short, not sure what i'm arguing, i saw a post that made a claim that i knew to be bullshit, called it out, let's just leave it at that.
Why should I care more about this game more than Project CARS or Driveclub?

Bummer. =\Replaced two weeks ago with a new Xbone w/ Forza and handed down to a friend as an upgrade from their Foreman Grill launch PS3. I'm all current gen, all the time now.
Here's hoping I jump in on Codie's next set of games.

My point was about console performance, and PCARS is aiming for 60fps on PS4/One - at which point a Grid Autosport is going to struggle to deliver the same wow factor, even it also ran at 60.true but when it looks as good as it does AND runs at literally double the framerate of pcars in triple screen (40 vs 80fps average) then yeah i don't really care about the 20% improvement in visuals for the 50% loss in performance, oh and actually in game, no screenshots, no replay or unplayable settings or anything, i'd say grid 2 looks better than pcars in motion
EDIT: For the guys arguing about next gen versions, it's talked about a bit at the end of this Eurogamer vid.
