Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Yep, so then again useless babysteps. They'll be basically doing what Sony did with PS3 and Vita. To be fair, I think they shouldn't even care about specs. It's not like they cared with Wii and Wii U. They should just be like: "Allright we're alone, so we'll just have the same scalable architecture for our hardware"
They could have either both handheld and home console with x86 or ARM. Just run the handheld games at 480p and the consome game at 1080p. That should do the trick. As for the horsepower, you can already get better performance than Wii U in a handheld.

Considering how Iwata specifcally used iOS and Android as examples of what they would like to do, I suppose there are high chances of seeing the "Nintendo ecosystem" you just mentioned.

Oh god that videogamer article is so dumb. That Fusion shit is obviously fake, how could they even THINK it's related to that?

Now a bunch of sites will copy videogamer (see MCV) and news will spread that Nintendo is announcing a new console/handheld hybrid - the "Nintendo Fusion" - and when nothing happens at E3 everyone will be disappointed and Nintendo "has lost E3".

Youarealreadydead.jpg

If this was real, leaks would be everywhere because as soon as dev kits arrive at 3rd party developers someone is going to leak it. It happened everytime and now it's even more likely to happen with so many developers having personal relationships with those at gaming media side.

Considering we are 1 month from E3, not having any leak about it, it's a pretty good sign of one of two things: 1) it's fake or 2) Nintendo didn't ship dev kits to 3rd party devs.

If Nintendo was going to reveal hardware we would know a lot more then we currently know. Well unless Nintendo are being Nintendo and keeping western 3rd parties in the dark.

If this is just the start of the floodgates opening and we start hearing some more convincing rumours between now and E3 then maybe we have something here but I wouldn't bet on it yet.

all i know is, is that if they show more powerfull hardware, with a new amazing looking Metroid and the new Zelda, there will be a lot of pants that need changing.

I think someone is having some fun blowing smoke up the asses of these sites.

Unless its a repurposing of existing wiiu hardware into a portable/home console hybrid(which is possible given its power draw and especially intriguing if they added 3ds game support) but even that is a bit shaky and nonsensical.

But a $250/$200 hybrid home/portable console that plays DS, WII, wiiu, and 3ds software with a new account system unifying purchases across the platforms would be pretty impressive.

Very exciting times ahead.

But man if they ditch the Wii U like that... only 2 years after being on the market....................... still, it will be worth picking up Wii U for $99 on fire sale this year.

Also, if this is a new console being announced then for 99% the new Zelda is moved to the new platform. EXCITE!

I really hope it's a new console. The WiiU was a bad core concept from the start, it's time to start fresh, start winning people back. At this point they can only do that with a better core concept in a console. It doesn't seem very Nintendo-like to do it so soon though...

The IGN editors seem a touch embarrassed about having to admit what they were bragging about in that conversation was all bluster.

I use to love the Wii U eShop but now it is invaded by all the 3DS stuff the thing is I love my home console be not so much my 3DS

I would have loved to play most 3DS games I am missing on my Wii U

So I am the kind of fan that hopes the fusion thing is true

Nintendo really can't support two platforms I would like all those games playable on both portable and home they need to find a way to make this work

i suspect the next batch will be fairly close to wii u levels. by now i feel they know their market is a hardcore base and family and kids. they can reach the former decently enough (they did a better job on the 3ds than wii u), but for family and kids the hardware and software price will need to come down considerably. this means less expensive hardware that requires less tricks to make games look good enough and less personnel to make said games. if their teams will be sharing assets from now on, i think there's a possibility the next handheld and console may be similar in power.

Which handheld is superior to a WiiU?

Just when I was ready to order that MK8 bundle. Now I'll have to wait until E3.

Frankly it wouldn't surprise me if that's what certain sites are trying to do....damage the chances of the MK8 Wii U launch Some seem to enjoy spreading Nintendo FUD that much.

It clearly won't be a Wii U successor, it clearly won't be anything more powerful than the Wii U.

Yes, you can. For exemple, Intel Baytrail SoC is sold like 37 dollars by Intel. And at 480p, it offers comparable performance without any optimisation.
And it's not to mention upcoming AMD Mullins and Intel Cherrytrail.
$40 for just an SoC is already way too expensive as far as I can tell.

They are not going to ditch the Wii U already, guys. There's no way they could get a console ready so fast. Wait at least two years, THEN we can talk about it.

Dropping a mainline console that quick alienates and angers a lot of your core fan base. It would be suicide for them in the home console market, a hundred times worse than another bad 2 years of Wii u sales..

So Nintendo will announce their true next-gen? :O

BTW, it's not "ditching" Wii U really. This new thing won't probably come out till late 2015. So we're still getting most important titles for Wii U.

Of all the fucking conspiracies...

Don't they usually announce a new console reveal a while before the event? Both 3DS and Wii U were officially announced well before E3, the former in March, the latter in April.

You're right, but perhaps they weren't ready for March/April this time, if it IS a new console then it will have been a mad scramble to get it together in time for E3.

That said, SURELY they would have opted for a press conference if they were announcing a new console at E3.

Yeah, unless they had plan B in motion when the WiiU launched (and why would they?) then it's simply too soon.

It's extremely unlikely they'll release or announce a Wii U successor as it hasn't been out for two years yet. An announcement at E3 would likely mean a release end 2015.

The 3DS still has life in it and already has a few editions.

Nintendo have said that they will talk about QoL this year and we will see a release next year.

QoL seems the most likely option.

Sorry I do not read through 35 pages, but why would they show new hardware without having a proper E3 conference? That alone makes it impossible in my mind.

I don't buy it. What do they possibly gain from doing this ?

More likely it's not the sites trying to damage image or reputation, but some third party publisher representative "leaker" who wants to burn Nintendo for some perceived or real slight.

Nintendo should address the rumor by saying " we have six unannounced original projects for wiiu and 8 for 3ds, 4 are eshop games, and a 3ds revision planned for e3." Put the "new hardware" rumors to bed.

That's sounds great, but why show that at E3? It's all about the games over there, except if AAL will interact heavily with your gaming device.
I'd imagine it might interact with their gaming devices as such a system obviously needs terminals, and simply using a WiFi enabled handheld or console would be cheaper than designing and manufacturing a dedicated device, but I never said they'll show it at E3. At least not during their main presentation.

Honesty I doubt there's a black hand trying to hurt Nintendo. Besides it's only 10 days.

Well, they could just remove the gamepad. Though i love it...
We'll see. Maybe it's a health related thing.

If Wii U sales are any indication, the core fan base isn't very big and I wouldn't be surprised if they'd buy the next Nintendo console anyway.

Sega probably thought the same about the 32x, Sega CD, and Saturn.

Also is it that crazy to think some guy with a @activision.com @ea.com @capcom.com or etc email address sends IGN an email talking about new Nintendo hardware as a joke or way to derail some Mario kart wiiu sales? There's a lot of people that work at those companies and its easy to generate those addresses.

Which is why it's nothing more than a 3DS revision if anything. They announced the 3DS XL at a Direct.

2+2=5

The Amiga Brotherhood
Honestly i don't believe it, i can see a new important accessory or an improved sku, but not a new console.

No, wait. People here is seriously suggesting that these rumours are being spread to limit Wii U sales when MK8 comes out, because journalists don't want N to sell? That there are third party devs who are doing it because...because...reasons?

No, seriously, tell me you're just joking. This sounds way too much tinfoil hat-esque. Please, tell me you're joking.

Will they announce the Wii U successor at E3?

Who knows?

Should they announce the Wii U successor at E3?

Absolutely. It's do or die time. They need to get some new hardware into the market and try to ignite sales ASAP.

All the Wii U owners complaining about killing the Wii U too early will line up to buy this new system on day one anyway.

Please be a new handheld so that I can be completely disinterested in it...I'm tired of Nintendo hardware falling into "half generational" slots like the Wii or Wii U...and that's where it has to end up if it's a proper console...

I'd so much rather them announce they will be making third party software for the other two...

Lol. Killing is a system while it's not even 2 years old is the best way to make people to not buy the next one.
