If Japan Studio are helping with development, there absolutely is.
FROM isn't a huge studio, so they probably needed the help, to bring forward to projects simultaneously (This and DkS2).

laggy PVP? When I did some PVP in DS2, it was anything but laggy. It was WAY worse in Dark Souls 1 by far.

Demon Souls 2 is not happening, just stop it.

I honestly doubt a Demon Souls 2 will ever see the light of day. From Software has definitely moved on. Why would they focus on another Sony exclusive when they can make Dark Souls 3 and stick it on multiple platforms and essentially make much more money off of it? It doesn't really make much sense financially since they're a smaller dev team.

Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE a Demon Souls 2, but I don't see it happening. Hopefully I'm wrong.
