Hey, I want a ticket for this train too!

And resistance to Nintendo hype is useless. They probably won't use the big guns they have, so we shouldn't be too excited, but the mere fact that they do have these guns... is reason enough to get us excited :)

I'll will be hopping on the hype train as well.

What I am hoping for:

WiiU: X, Yoshi's Yarn, Fire Emblem X SMT, Smash Bros, Metroid or Star Fox, Zelda

3DS: Advance Wars, Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, Localizations (DQ VII)

IP Revival: Star Tropics

S.T.E.A.M revealed.

Naturally. Just like Directs.

I will be very honest, the missing press conference is deflating my hype a bit. Why are they not going for a press conference? Because they haven't much to show? Besides of that I really love the atmosphere on stage. Just remember the epic Zelda orchestra intro with a great crowd reaction, it saddens me a bit that we will not get those moments at E3 2014. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0V_Wzxv_X4

E3 without a press conference is like christmas without family for me.

I guess Next Level might have a game to show. According to an interview back in January, they're a two team studio. Several of their artists and art directors didn't work on Luigi's Mansion and haven't released a game since 2011 for example. Going by that interview, their current projects are apparently also based on existing Nintendo IPs, but they said that they were getting bigger and bigger IPs to work with, so... Metroid, maybe?

What's interesting is that Monster Games seems to have grown quite a lot, but many profiles on Linkedin are either (nearly) empty or private. I don't think they're big enough to have more than one team (or at least not until recently), and Donkey Kong came out last year, so it's almost certainly too early for them to show anything. Didn't know this initially, but they apparently also helped out with Tropical Freeze.

I also think Headstrong might be too big to just work on Art Academy, but they're not exclusively working for Nintendo, and I couldn't find any hints what else (if anything) they might have cooking.

They are having a live event, though... It's a Smash Bros. Tournament... That's arguably better than talking heads on a stage.

because a Smash Invitational is way more epic

edit: great minds post within a minute of each other

Yes, that's a great and clever strategy from Nintendo and I appreciate that a lot no doubt, but from my personal standpoint I would prefer reactions to announcements. Is the Smash bros thing at the same time and at the same place as they would usually do E3 press conferences? Would explain a lot.

I am not a big Smash bros fan though so I guess I am in the minority.

Wait...

Digital Event...

You guy don't think we may get digital downloads of E3 Demos, right?

That would be fantastic but I don't think they will do that because they already announced demos at BestBuy, sadly. For me it sucks I don't even have a BestBuy.

It could be Nintendo is done with conferences all together for them the Directs is all that is needed to deliver the message straight to the fans no middleman involved and they're still at the show floor were it counts , but I do understand what you're saying and its something I'm going to miss as well to me the best way to have the best of both worlds would be to have the reveal live from the Nintendo world store

:p I just noticed my avatar location on the new train. I'm honoured to help lead the train in the right direction (or are you all trying to run me down ? ) .

If all they announce is only an Intelligent System-developed Advance Wars for 3DS I'll be happy. My 3DS game library feels incomplete :(
A 2.5 Metroid on 3DS would be icing on the cake.

I think Next Level being back with something is a given. Whether or not we'll know it's even them at first is less hard to call (can't remember how long it took to learn that LM2 was their game, for example), but I'm certain they'll have something to show.

I think Wario Land would be a good fit for them.

Oh no, I was going to write an explanation on the things that felt similar to me from the trailers, but I can already feel history rewriting itself to account for me not having played either MH3 Wii or xenoblade for "5 minutes".

Either I get lucky and when history is repaired, I'll have invented a machine capable of creating a time dilation field and be rich, or forgotten everything about both, as I've not played them for even an hour, apparently.

That, or you hail from an alternate universe where there are actual resemblances between X and MH and have achieved some manner of interacting with the denizens of my universe through NeoGAF. But as many others and I have pointed out in this thread, X having any inspiration from MH is not reconcilable with our reality.

I hope it's not the rumored Luigi's Mansion 2 HD port

What we really need is Battalion Wars 3.

Why_not_both?.gif

I refuse to get hype, sorry. I am just gonna play games and if some thing gets announced cool.

Frankly I will only be excited if they reveal some kind of sick lineup through the end of the year. We know that won't happen.

Thanks MCN!

Now, with 2 HYPE Trains, this Digital Event must be big.
I think we'll probably get 2 surprises and Zelda U.
Some time will go into the 3DS , since it need more games right now.

I know i'm greedy but i want to be in a time paradox and ride both trains. Or better yet, all trains!
RIDE ALL THE TRAINS

Btw, Hot Coldman mentioning Wario Land isn't that weird; when was the last time he had a game of his own on a handheld? Wario Ware Do it Yourself?

It's hard to say if we'll see more big Wii U titles announced besides Zelda and the new NFC titles. I mean, Nintendo already has over a handful of upcoming games to focus on (Bayonetta 2, X, Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem X SMT, Yoshi's Yarn, Fatal Frame, Smash Bros and Sonic Boom with a likely reminder of Mario Kart 8 as well). Out of those games, two of them haven't been shown off yet while one of them (Yoshi Yarn) hasn't had a proper first trailer. While Nintendo has improved their global release schedule, we could see a game or two slip into 2015. Beyond games, there's miscellaneous news that Iwata mentioned back during his speech earlier this year related to Wii U.

Lemme on! Just give me something similar to the HD Zelda experience with better textures, shaders and lighting and I'm gonna be good this e3. With the modern features available on the Wii U they should be able to create some incredibly immersive atmosphere.

It won't likely happen. Aonuma said he doesn't like to generally stick with the same type of visuals. For the Zelda Wii U tech demo, it was based on Twilight Princess.
While he said he'd be more careful in trying to please fans, its not like he stopped making colorful, stylized games because that's what we got with Skyward Sword. Aonuma will risk trying something different despite the positive reaction over the Wii U Zelda tech demo's visuals.

How will Nintendo handle the E3 Digital Event?
I imagine it'll be a typical direct interspersed with footage from the E3 show floor to make you feel like you're there and to reinforce that Nintendo actually IS at E3.

How many new and old IPs will they announce?
I don't expect any new IP, and I'm not sure we'll get any new announcements of new 'old IP' games. We still have a lot of announced Wii U games in the pipeline.

What's up with Nintendo Treehouse?
They're awesome, that's what's up.

Will they focus on their fans or on the casuals?
I imagine that they'll focus on their fans, because QoL is their big casual plan and it won't be there; because that's the only audience they captured on the Wii U and because it's the most appropriate audience to speak to at E3.

Will the most of the fanbase end up disappointed or satisfied?
Disappointed because they always overhype it, but also Nintendo won't have surprises this year.

How great will be Zelda U?
Not sure, but people will lose their minds at the reveal anyway due to the thirst. Really hoping they push Zelda on in terms of complexity. Skyrim shows that complicated games can have mass-market, breakout appeal. I don't want Zelda to be anything like Skyrim but a bit of extra complexity (like difficulty levels, god damn it!) wouldn't hurt.

How can they get back lost fans?
By making new versions of classic old franchises like F-Zero, Star Fox and Metroid. (They won't do this, btw)

Will they gather to a more "mature" audience or will they casualize their franchises?
Nintendo software will always be accessible, and will never go the 'mature' route. I do wish they would accept that some of their IP (like Metroid) is hardcore-only and design it accordingly. I don't think they will.

What are your expections?
For Wii U: Zelda U, Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, X and Yarn Yoshi are my major expectations. Anything beyond that and I'll be surprised. If any of those are missing I'll be pissed, super pissed.
For 3DS: I can see a surprise or two here because the 3DS doesn't have a lot announced and they need games for xmas 2014. Majora's Mask should be a shoe-in, and I have a feeling that if we see a new Metroid this is where it'll be. I'd love to see a new 3DS revision but Nintendo seemed pretty definitive about that. My huge hope would be a new 3DS Advance Wars, but again, I'm not banking on it.

Good predictions Griss. I also agree on a 3DS Metroid - it just feels like that could happen. I also think there will be one or two big 3rd party exclusives for Wii U announced.

I don't know what IS is working on but I would love a new Paper Mario title in HD. I don't think we'll see another Paper Mario title any time but it would be neat as long as it's not in the same vein as the 3DS title. Just take it back to it's roots.

I don't think we'll see any big third party game announced apart from skylanders, Disney infinity and maybe COD Advance warfare and the new AC that is if it's coming to ps3/360 if next gen only then we're not gonna get it

If we do get any third party announcements, it will probably be just indies. I can see them showing off an indie highlight reel of upcoming indie titles.
