I would love if Nintendo could get Namco to make a Zelda game using the 'Tales of' gameplay/engine. I'm not talking about mixing the Tales of universe with the Zelda universe btw.

I've always wanted to play a JRPG based Zelda and the "Tales of" style would fit perfectly for that since battles are already semi-action oriented. Hey, if Mario did it successfully, I'm sure Zelda can do it too.

I always liked how in Super Mario RPG, you are tricked into thinking that the story was going to be the classical 'Bowser kidnaps Peach', but then the real menace is revealed as you battle Bowser in the intro. And not only that, but Bowser actually joined your party as a permanent character. That was really cool.

Imaging having a Link, Zelda/Sheik, Midna, Zora, Goron, whatever, party plus whatever other new or old character, and then later on Ganondorf can join too to battle the real menace of the story.

Dungeons could be like a regular JRPG dungeon, but with puzzles like Golden Sun or Lufia 2 to keep the puzzle tradition.

I would love that. I love Tales games, and I love the Zelda Universe. Do it Nintendo.

Although, I think it would be better if it was just in the Zelda Universe and you played as characters other than Link, Zelda etc. etc.

I would want to play as a unknown forest child (not link) that builds up a team of a goron, zora, etc etc..

A Zelda rpg would be awesome. I'd love to see a Mario rpg-like Zelda rpg that takes all the classic tropes and beats of the franchise and filters them thru the rpg genre. But I don't exactly know what a "Tales of" rpg is like.

Not really a big fan of this idea because I love the lone wolf aspect of Zelda, where you just have your sword, dungeon music, and sound effects

Sure if is in the style of the 80s cartoon. That lends itself to the skits more easily plus you have Sprtie as an annoying mascot character. Not sure how a boss that can only take 3 hits would work well though.

With the Last Story multiplayer thread I just recalled the feeling while playing that game of "good thing Miyamoto didn't see this, I could see characters easily being changed to Zelda ones". Heck, Zangurak has uncanny resemblance to Ganondorf complete with being able to cheese fishing rod style (banana skins).

I don't think anyone considers the Mario RPGs to be "mainline" Mario games, don't see why it would be any different for Zelda.

Not at all, this would be the full party based on OoT characters: Link, Sheik, Saria, Princess Ruto, Impa, Nabooru and Darunia.

7 characters to choose your party from (3 or 4 characters in the combat party), and the best of all is that 5 of them would be female, so you can have a party based mainly of Sheik, Saria and Ruto.

Anyways, I can see it happening as long as they keep the Zelda aspects and the "Tales of" aspects dont over do it that it stops feeling Zelda-ish.

Considering Tales of Rebirth's main character was voiced by OOT Adult Link, sure why not.

I mean it'd probably be more fun than the Dynasty Warriors game.

No thanks. Zelda characters don't seem like they'd be good fit for a Tales style cast/story. Also Tales games have a lot of dialogue which wouldn't be a good fit for Zelda either.

Zelda Souls would be better. Zelda dungeons + Souls combat and ambushes/encounters.

No... I don't want a tales of zelda. While there IS some interesting story for the zelda series (read the manga at the end of Hyrule Historia, it's cool/dark/interesting as fuuuuuck) but we don't need to make a game MORE about story... we need more zelda games that focus more on the gameplay.
