Yeah it's really really bad. I remember RAGE having similar problems but not this bad. Very disappointing.

Oh Poop
I have a Xonar DGX :(

Scratch that, sound mixing in general is shit. All the audio sounds fine but the mixing is poor, ambient sound effects inconsistently and unrealistically louder than others, off sound effect mixing. Gun fire really should be much louder than it is as the samples are sound great.

As 5.1 or for Stereo Mixing?
I have a X-Fi and I want to use CMSS 3D with 5.1 or 7.1 sources.
Software mixing nowadays for headphone users is absolutely atrocious in games. Bring back OpenAL!

Do you have the patch? I recall reading that it tweaks the sound mix.

I've a Xonar sound card, usually set to headphone with Dolby Headphone enabled. Turned it off for simply stereo headphone and it still sounds off.

It's not a bad sounding game, the mix is just ridiculously inconsistent, made all the more disappointing by how good the sound effects are.

Steam. Patch should be automatically installed.

This.. I haven't gotten too far in the game but completely agree with this, and I'm playing the PS4 version on a 5.1 system.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Any impressions/previews/hands on from gaffers or media-alike for the PS3/360 versions ?

Thanks in advance.

I think I'll pick this up after work with my Target credit. They better have it in store.

I have a bunch of Target credit and I'm still getting it from Best Buy. Dat $25 in certificates. ($20 from promotion + $5 to apologize for the missing toy that I didn't need anyway)

Is it me or did the patch add a sharpness filter? I played through the game for one hour on the ps4 yesterday while the patch was still downloading and the IQ looked very clean. Now im playing again with the patch installed and there's A lot of shimmering on the edge of certain objects and everything has this artificial sharp look to it...

Edit ; i reloaded the game and it looks normal again, probably a glitch then.

Managed to get a retail copy of this in Australia for $59.95AUS. Basically an electronics store called 'Dick Smith' had a special where you get $10 off if you preorder. I went in and they said the game's already been released but they gave me the discount because the catalogue said it wasn't due to be released until the 22nd, the cashier then found the game had dropped in price $5 as well so I got it for really cheap. I also preordered the Last of Us for PS4 as well because it also had the $10 discount for preordering.

Yep,played the 360 version before i got the ps4 version. You dont wanna see this accident...
4 DVDs and you still wanna know where the fuck the textures are. i can say for sure that they are not on thr DVDs. Looks really bad. But you still got the 60fps.

If you have the choice, get a PS4/Xbone/PC version
If not, prepare for the worst.

On the plus side jesus fuck is this game fun.

Just played the intro on the PS4 version.

Even though I had subtitles set to "foreign only" I kept getting subtitles whenever the pilot spoke, in English. The sound mix was off too, with voices barely discernible over the rest of the effects, and no options to switch audio setup (headset, home theater, speaker size, etc).

Has anybody else run into this?

Same thing for me. PS4

Sucks to hear that. I also saw from totalbiscuit's video that it seems to group all the normal sound options onto a single master volume slider with a seperate toggle just to turn music off or on...which is weird.

I would really love to play TNO on PC, but it's completely region-locked here in Germany. And I wanna play it uncut. So that won't work.

So, here my noob-question to the german GAF members, who have imported the UK PS4 version: Does the PS4 revert the game to the cut version, if I import the UK version? Or is it even blocked, if I try to run it, spitting out an error message? I'm talking about the PS4 recognizing the region in which you're in and then utilising said measures.

Steam doesn't patch the game, it's just that Bethesda has prohibited those within Germany from running it at all.

Oh wow, this game is the biggest PC game I've ever laid eyes on. 45GB's.

Guess I'll be playing this in two weeks time then. God forbid someone decides to watch Netflix in HD during that time.

Don't know if I should pick this up on PC (New gaming PC, i7, GTX 770 etc. so I'm guessing I'll run it maxed) or on PS4. My PS4 is gathering a bit of dust. Same problem with Transistor. Any recommendations?

Get it on disc on PS4 if you don't want to wait a month for the steam download.

I can confirm the gun sounds are better with the patch. It's really fun thus far to be honest. The story is also quite serious which I'm liking. I expected more tongue in cheek story (don't like).

Solid stuff.
