What Microsoft needs to do is sell this at almost cost like the One Plus smartphone is doing, get as much market share as possible.

all the cover issues are probably because of the of the stupid unreliable magnet connector, they seem to have ditched it and now it snaps to the bezel with a much larger area. Don't think there will be any fix for first gen disconnecting and just randomly stop working :\

Mine are all software AFAIK.

- Not recognising that cover is disconnected... so no virtual keyboard
- Track pad scroll direction reverses

That would be ideal. Take a loss on the thing to gain marketshare then. Price more evenly with the next iteration. They won't though.

A leak from a few days ago, which has been accurate so far, listed these prices:

i5-8GB RAM-256GB - $1299
i7-8GB RAM-256GB - $1549

These are unconfirmed as of right now.

If this ends up being confirmed, these are the SKUs I'd be aiming for. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Might have to sell both my laptops. I'm gonna wait till we find out more though.

MS holding these things in tiny tiny rooms with 24 journalists is super weird, with echoing claps, random chatter... it just oozes odd. Otherwise, the device itself is spectacular. Panos is a hardware guy, and while his delivery and stage presence is goofy, he's the real deal.

Microsoft, I'm at your damn event, give me one of these.

Not thrilled about the aspect ratio. Gonna cause issues with gaming.

Did you literally just compare a large software conglomerate that dabbles in hardware with a startup that has yet to fucking ship a single device?

As much as I'd like that to happen I don't think the market works like that. Entitled Customers would create a large furore with any price increase.

The surface pro price is not cheap but it's inline with other devices. Even better if you wait for a sale.

Click to OneNote is a super fantastic.

Lowest latency in the industry? I feel more perceptive by the minute.

That pen turn-on is VERY cool, IMO. Main reason I keep a pen/paper notebook is that sometimes it's faster to just pull that out and write vs. pull out my Surface, sign in, and turn on OneNote.

depending on how good the digitiser is, the cost for designers and illustrators etc probably wouldn't be a huge barrier. Where is shog?

I've been testing mine with device manager open, I think the shoddy connector just glitches the driver, at times it makes the pen and the windows button to stop working too until I remove it and they come back right away. It doesn't connect well and chances are there are safety measure in the firmware like shutting down usb power or partially disabling some inputs and sometimes it just hangs there (no on screen keyboard) until you force shutdown! it's so weird I've completely switched to a bluetooth keyboard now, it's just not very reliable overall.

These OneNote functions are really cool, but do they only work with the vastly inferior OneNote Metro, or also with proper OneNote 2013?

It's all REALLY cool for me...but I don't know how some of these features are going to make it more enticing to the general public. Especially since 7-8" tablets are the rage right now.

I like everything I've seen so far about the Pro 3 other than the aspect ratio. I think I would've preferred a 4:3 ratio with a slightly smaller screen.

I appreciate that they acknowledged the uselessness of the Type Cover 2's touch pad.

blue pond - target professionals that can afford this and can appreciate the larger screen and features, but nobody else is really competing in that space. Makes sense. They'll still have surface RT as well

Yep, look at the market share of the Surface compared to other products on its category, who cares it is from Microsoft, they just want to be number 1.
