Uncharted lost its game director (Justin Richmond) , its head writer and creative director (Amy Hennig), and its lead character artist (Michael Knowland). The number of people leaving becomes less relevant when you consider the influence, power, and creativity of the ones that got the boot. People like Amy Hennig are hailed as creative geniuses when they are on staff, but when they cut out suddenly we're not supposed to be concerned because "Oh she was just one person on a staff of hundreds!"
And again I'll qualify these developments as "setbacks". Not the end of the world, but somewhat worrisome. I'd say the same thing about Marty O'Donnell's very abrupt termination from Bungie.
After having lost years of work and millions of dollars. The fact that they lost immense amounts of time and money but will continue on mean that it's almost literally the definition of a "setback", and yet people still get their panties in a twist seeing it categorized as such.

add:
- 10 min AC Unity demo
- 10 min Destiny vehicular combat demo
- Sony Santa Monica new God of War
What if Project Beast skips E3? That would be pretty surprising.
Do it, Sony!

What in the hell are you talking about? 1/3 of the main top dogs from NG left, as Amy Hennig out of Bruce/Neil trifecta, as well as SSM's 2nd team that failed to do a good job, along with SSM director Stig. Papy left I think 6 months - 1 year ago as well. The tales out of my ass must mean you magically making shit up and making no sense.Ok now you're starting to get annoying..let me break this down for you
here's what you initially said
"A whole second AAA team was broken up and millions were lost, on top of losing one of the main creative directors in Stig. I have no idea how on earth they wouldn't be sweating that, on top of losing 1/3 biggest names at Naughty Dog and a few that followed suit. Sony will be fine, but don't try to downplay a few shitty situations for Sony."
see there's two sections to it. Not only do you think several people leaving is equal to 1/3 of the BIGGEST names leaving the team, you don't even remember your own statement just one post after it.
If you want to specifically focus on JUST the SSM situation then you should have done a better job writing your answer..that fault lies with you.
Different studios are structured differently. Until recently ND only had one team. PD only works on one franchise. SSM does many things. They have their own multiple projects and they also have smaller teams helping others.
When cutting down the workforce moving forward the biggest casualty will be those that didn't produce the result. So it's understandable if all the people that were laid off were of that stig project. but at the same time we have no proof this is the case. It could easily include other staff members that were considered redundant to them from other projects too.
So if you want to count 2+2 = tales out of your ass to justify some make belief unique gloom situation then by all means go right ahead Projects gets cancelled all the time. GOW 1 director left, GOW 2 director left (he has come back), GOW 3 (stig) has left and GOW:A director has left SSM in the recent history...and if history has taught you anything, they have moved on without much of an issue whatsoever.
moving goal posts.
nobody is saying those weren't setbacks, but the catastrophic- nay, APOCALYPTIC attitude that people seem to have when they bring it up is taking things way too far, and blowing them way out of proportion. at a certain point it borderlines on concern trolling.
I know about those. They aren't being made by ND, GG, MM or SSM are they? Guns Up! I think won't be a major release, nor Pixel Opus since that is being made by university students. Since the others are not being made by Sony's flagship studios I think that is why there isn't much excitement. It's good that the B tier studios are getting their time to shine though.
People left SSM as well as some dogs from NG including one of the 3 main players. Frankly, I don't see it as the end of the world considering the wealth of talent WWS has under its belt but playing it off as it didn't even hurt them is cringeworthy to read. Hopefully dualshockers doesn't have an exclusive story based on neogaf "Sony loses millions on a cancelled project, it dont even mata"People left Naughty Dog almost every day during the pre-U1 time, according to Naughty Dog. Give it up already. You're wrong.
No, dude. Arrogant Sony allows devs to complete their games. Arrogant Sony doesn't rush incomplete/unfinished products to market. Arrogant Sony unbundles a peripheral that has little gaming application. Arrogant Sony releases a more powerful console than their competitor at a lower price point. Arrogant Sony is back. It's all over.

So that's Tidux's and Dualshockers' credibility down the drain, if they had any in the first place. Now to wait and see if the other rumours are proven false. Anyhow, it's pretty disappointing, from the various murmerings, it seems like a pretty cool RPG.

I'm sorry for being annoying by the way. What is your opinion on this situation? I'd like to know so I can copy & paste it so you don't get mad other people have different perspectives in a video game forum with thousands of posters.
I agree with the first two, but GoW4 won't be shown. SSM said they won't be at E3.
SSM were teasing something for E3 on twitter possibly GOW related. Unless it's just excitement for E3 in general. I assume it's just a GOW Collection for PS4 or something as thuway mentioned remasters everywhere.
Was LA earthquake tweet.
Kinda related question, but regarding Ready at Dawn, do u think Sony acquired them? Change of logo and "more news at E3";

The Order isn't made by a flagship Sony Studio either.
There's absolutely no proof implying any of these games are being made by who, much less preconceived notions of A or B.

An even better solution would be avoiding people like Tidux, give some serious sites a visit and follow those people who got contacts and don't share every hearsay... or are within the industry.
I'm far from being anywhere near defending Tidux, however plans get changed.
It's an moving industry and plans are constantly changing, stuff get's pulled and other things move into the spotlight.
Cboat was wrong with Prince of Persia and other leakers with other stuff who were 100% correct before, also had something wrong.
Always take these rumors with a grain of salt, for some people like Tidux, be extra cautious.

It's pretty obvious such cases come with huge consequences, sometimes it working and other times not. I was merely responding at a ridiculous post by someone who brushed off losing 1/2 AAA teams, several years on a project and millions as not a big deal. And then two people started spazzing out for God knows what.Setbacks are an everyday part of life.
There's ones where you overcome it without anyone noticing the struggles. (TLOU)
There's ones where you make major sacrifices to overcome it, but become stronger from it. ( Uncharted 1, where 25 people left and a handheld project got cancelled)
There's ones where it seems like you overcomed it,but it ended up killing you because the wound was too deep. (Bioshock Infinite)
And there's one where you realise you can't win, and cut your losses.
Who said it's defined by 3 people? I said 1 of the 3 top talents have left. Most would agree with that statement. Leave the computer and calm down, or maybe tweet at Shuhei for a twitter hug or something. My main concern with NG at the moment is that game #2 might take a backseat out of all this as they handle both projects at once at this point in time. I have shown some concerns for NG since Hennig's departure in the past, but nothing that would stop me from buying their games day 1 no matter what. You can stop being annoying by making some sense and not being all over the place. Many including me would really appreciate it. If you do however want to go down this persecution complex road where people are calling you out because you have a 'different opinion' and for no other reason by all means knock yourself out.
You said 1/3 the top talent left. If a studios top talent is defined by 3 people then that studio is in some deep shit. If by top talent you exclude the people who are actually in charge of the studio, then that's an issue as well. I'm not going to explain why this is silly, it should be fairly obvious.
Naughty Dog lost their 'Founders' in their transition to the PS3. Two more leaving during the transition to the ps4 is hardly a shocker
We have no idea about the nature of this so called 'AAA' 2nd team you are referring to. If you have any facts the rest of us don't know please feel free to share. SSM is built up of multiple teams and the layoffs could have involved all of them for all we know. Stig leaving is not an issue in a historical context because as pointed out to you already it has happened before as well without the studio actually struggling. But hey let's avoid that point for the sake of convenience shall we?
Jeff left, Cory left and Stig has left. Papy did a shit job the game he made too. So what's the surprise here? What's shocking you? This has been happening since God of War 1. So yes tales out of your ass indeed. What is this FOX news?
It'd seem that way, but no.

Barlog came months before and was working on a AAA team. Aug 2013, Barlog came and specified that in the PS Blog post. In Feb, there were 50+ layoffs, including top players for SSM after the cancellation of the project that lasted 1 month away from 4 years. Unless Barlog came to piss away for 7 months, it's assumed he started working on a AAA project while Stig was working on his. When Stig's project was cancelled, many people were fired and the ones that weren't went to Barlog's project, or at least that seems like the likeliest scenario.
Jeff, Cory, Stig and Papy all left after 1 game so another would take over the same franchise. Stig left because he and his team bombed so bad for 4 years, that there is no replacement for him at that project since it died along with his career at SSM (at least for now).
Firstly, I said they wouldn't be sweating the Order's delay or the ND shake up, but they would about the money pit of Stig's game.A whole second AAA team was broken up and millions were lost, on top of losing one of the main creative directors in Stig. I have no idea how on earth they wouldn't be sweating that, on top of losing 1/3 biggest names at Naughty Dog and a few that followed suit. I think this conference will just be Uncharted 4, The Order, Project Beasts and The Last Guardian. That is still not a bad line up. On paper that sounds bad, but I bet each individual game will blow people away, for example Uncharted 4 isn't getting much hype, but I bet the Gameplay reveal will get GAF talking.
That would be great. If only random twitter posts from the likes of Tidux and other "insiders" weren't taken as gospel, used to start threads and treated as facts. I don't think anyone learned from the Pete Dodd incident unfortunately.
They certainly should (and QD)
I bet Sony would like to acquire them, but they aren't in a financial position to do that right now.
So, if Project Beast isn't Sony's only ace, they must have something that no one knows about? U4 and TLG will be huge but we already know about them, so you couldn't really call them aces up the sleeve, or megatons.
Although I guess seeing U4 running could be a megaton in its own right..
Eh. My guess is that they've assembled all the IPs people have already mentioned, assumed that's enough and are calling it a day. Someone made a list and said it looked boring--the reaction was "LOL it's actually the best list ever". Sony probably thinks so too.
With nothing from MM or GG Sony's E3 isn't looking too good at the moment. Hope they have something surprising up their sleeve. If it's true that Project Beast was their ace there are going to be a lot of disappointed movie theatre goers. Pretty sure UC4 will look great but I want to see new IP.

While the fact that Sony is having awesome sales numbers is good for them and the industry, I fear that they may become a little arrogant cause of that, like they don't need to show more games since they have the better console for playing third party titles.
Why would compare those two? You can't compare a good situation to a bad one and say "Hey, this good situation is better!" If anything, a surprise game of quality will get a huge rise. Remember Last of Us?As if a surprise unveiling for a game that ends up being a turd is better than a full blown reveal with a known quality. GTFO!

With Xbox One launching this year in Japan, could MS possibly get FF15 trailer at their conference or is there a marketing deal between Sony & SE?
