GameStop employees told they may need to open early or stay late during E3...

I am literally at work right now. Put up or shut up.

EDIT The last store ops email is about HSA accounts. GSO (internal intranet for non-GS gaffers) has nothing.

PM me your email and Il email it to you.

Edit: Its from the Pre-E3 informer sent on the 2nd. Its not recent as in today.

I sometimes wonder who those people are that hear crazy things during elections and believe them and e-mail crazy urban legends to their relatives because they're just that excitable and can't be bothered to think for a moment about what they're saying or believe.

And then I realize, oh yeah, they're those people I see on message boards, just about different things.

I heard that Obama is announcing the full closure of Guantanamo Bay at E3 at Sony's conference. All those released prisoners are bound to want to buy some games.

Probably pre-orders/trade-in bonuses for whatever gets announced at e3. I wouldn't get my hopes up
That way I can't be disappointed when it's nothing and I can be excited when it's something

Doesn't there have to be something super huge to open early?

Massive beyond anything in the past that is for sure. A surprise Halo/COD wouldn't even cause it. It would have to be some kind of multi channel issue. I could only see a large number of price drops but its E3 which is NOT as casual as people would like to believe so it would take something that focused a boatload of gamers.

Huge deals maybe?
360 to Xbox One trade in?
PS3 to PS4 trade in?
But again it would have to be a combo we are talking the entire shifting of store hours, changes to schedules, so many thousands of extra man hours. Like people are saying. It would have to be EPIC and E3 is awesome but it doesnt seem to have that kind of scope. It would have to be casuals and hardcore and casuals dont even know E3 is happening.

Why would they open early if the events wont announce whatever it is until later in the day? Microsoft's is the only early one...hint?

Yeah, my Gamestop opened early the morning of the PS4 release (after midnight release) and that's the only time I can ever remember that happening.

Right and known ages beforehand and offering something not out anywhere.

I mean Sega DC 2:) That kind of thing hahahaha.

Honestly though I mean it is time for last gen systems to drop prices and if that was combined with some cool trade in plans for the next systems or something. If I were Gamestop I WOULD open early and close late and that would cover multiple systems.

OHHH that one. Okay.

Yeah that's not exactly tied to any particular thing. Is most likely due to conference times. There is no way it's a launch. You are stirring hype for almost certainly nothing.

In order to better assist our customers it may be necessary to stay open later or to open earlier, as needed.

Anything you trade towards anything at E3 gets you extra 30% trade. But I didn't hear anything about opening early or closing late during my shift today.

Well then that needs to be added to the OP or the title.

Its probably some idiot at the corporate office who thinks people are going to go pre order crazy at e3.

Also, never pre order unless you are getting a discount or value to use at that store for your next purchase. Never.

Why would they open early? Staying late is understandable, but early? Weird. Maybe one of the morning press conferences will announce something thats available immediately. Microsoft? Sony is way late so idk.
Wait, where is this friend from?
I need time zones for my conspiracy theories damnit! !

Hasn't GAME already leaked that's more-or-less exactly what's going to happen?

I totally want to though.

While $99 isn't gonna happen, I could totally see $150-200.

Ya that would mean they are taking a loss, but does that matter if they have a bunch of them already made and just sitting there?

$250 is possible. $200 is highly unlikely. $150 just ain't happening.

I hope by "you" that you don't mean me. IV been trying to downplay hype from the start lol

If true, it could just be corporate pushing their desire for more draw in from the E3 hype.

"Pre-order any of the games you've seen coming out this year at Gamestop- with expanded hours in certain areas!"

If it's a stealth release, I think we'd see something come out of other stores too unless it's a Gamestop exclusive or something.

No way it's for an Xbox/PS4 price drop. No one is going to go to gamestop at 10PM looking to buy a new console. It's not release day, you could just walk in the next day and get one no problem.

I worked at GAME and from the people I still know there (it was a flagship store) the plan is to do a Microsoft live stream on Monday with hardware/software pre-orders following it. Open early next day and pre-order like crazy (they will on Monday have all the graphics/pre-order adverts and trailers too), the Last of Us is defo coming out in June likely Friday 13 poss.

Persona 5, Half Life 3, Final Fantasy XV, Beast Souls, Kingdom Hearts 3, Pillars of Eternity, The Witcher 3 all will be releasing on that day.

I have a tingling sensation. Believe.
