Ubisoft E3 2014 Press Conference Thread

EA announced games last year and then showed dev diaries and concept footage for all of those games. Even the sports trailers felt faked or CGed. Ubisoft showed off actual games, games that aren't in their infancy stages.

Doesn't matter if the conversations in the Rainbow Six video were fake as fuck, the game itself is promising.

There was only 1 thing that I actually liked for Ubi. That was Far Cry 4.

EA at least had some games that I liked and did want to play: Battlefield Hardline, Mirror's Edge 2, and Dragon Age. Even if they were already announced, I'd rather have that than games I have no interest in whatsoever like in Ubi's conference.

One of our proven ubi insiders said there are two ac games this year before anyone else and that one of them is dd only iirc, can't find it now. At this stage, AC Comet must be a very low key title that they're not showing at all and it's coming this year that is... with that said there is no way Unity can sell 12-13m units like the games before so I like to know what's up there, it would look pretty bad on their annual sheet. probably expecting fc and watch_dog to compensate for it.

Unity does look nice visually, very nice in fact.
Maybe they unveil Comet at Sony's presser lol

I'll have to see what this Rainbow 6 talk is about here since I love that franchise, but overall sounds like I didn't miss much. Will also have to see why people are excited about this Valiant Hearts title (which would sound like a JRPG game coming from any other presser than Ubisoft).

Shame about no PoP or Beyond Good & Evil, but expected.

  • I fell asleep towards the end (during The Division).
  • Sunset Overdrive looks really great.
  • Assassin's Creed demo looked great.
  • Too much focus on games, I would have like to see them talk about the other features that make it a better value than a PS4 at $399.
EA: Incomplete
  • I faded in and out.
  • Battlefront being one giant cock tease was disappointing.
  • FIFA looks pretty but that may just be World Cup hype talking.
Ubisoft: B+
  • Assassin's Creed, The Crew, Rainbow 6, and Sad WWI Dog looked great.
  • Fitness game and Just Dance segments were entertaining.
  • The Division and Far Cry 4 seem meh.

Edit: I guess my phrasing could have been better. My problem wasn't that Microsoft had too many games, it was that they didn't have enough other stuff (like apps and stuff).

Ubisoft and MS are neck and neck for me. Halo and Rainbow Six have made this E3 for me already.

EA's was pretty mediocre, but they gain a lot of points for letting us play one of the games they were showing off. That was sweet.

I can;t understand how someone would rate EA PC over UBISOFT. At least they showed some damn gameplay unlike those crap conceptual footage that EA showed.

microsoft - a (ton of games even if it was very predictable)
ubisoft - c (could have done with some new announcements like blood dragon sequel or prince of persia 2d)
ea - d (basically garbage bar a nice mirror's edge 2 dev diary. i do like that they're trying to be open instead of throwing cg around but it's embarrassing how little they have for ps4/xbone yet)

GB thinking AC comet could show up at the sony conference, it would be weird not seeing anything about it with it coming out in a few months.

For me, so far...

MS - 8/10
Ubi - 5.5/10
EA - 2/10

Ubi's show was alright. It kinda bored me but there were some good games shown off. Rainbow Six looks really interesting. Valiant Hearts looks fantastic but it looks so sad :'(

what did people like about rainbow six? i thought it looked bland visually.

was it the destructible walls?

I'm guessing the actual gameplay.

My ratings:

MS - B+ (I may end up getting an xbone this fall/holiday, love me some Halo and Forza Horizon 2, SO will be played as well but that is not a system seller for me)
EA - D
Ubi: B

Assassins creed looks GENUINLY next gen.

Rainbow Six looks interesting, and at least seems to inspire cooperation and planning.

The Division - I'm now suddenly very interested in the story and thought the trailer was fantastic.

UBIsoft mp convo:

"Okay, we're going to breach the wall at the same time you breach the door and I get the guy on the left and you take out the 2 on the right."

*KABOOM*

"Good job, we neutralized the threats."

Actual real player convo:

"FUCK DUDE, BLOW THAT SHIT UP NOW"

"NO WAIT I'M NOT RE..."

*KABOOM*

"LEEEERRRRROOOOOOOOYYYYYYYY JEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNKIIIIIINNNNNNS!!!!!"

"WHAT THE HELL DUDE? YOU GOT EVERYONE KI..."

"YOU PIECE OF SHIT YOU DIDN'T GO IN ASSHOLE!"

Arh the good old days of terrorist hunt, I remember me and my freind would troll randoms by throwing smoke grandae and flashbangs and we would be like ''OMG where are these grenades coming from? the AI must be super smart'' and people believed it wasnt us lol.

rainbow six has come so far in 8 years

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3xgAfLQ-WE

or maybe not?

but I dont think this is a bad thing, I loved vegas when it came out, and it is still a very fun game today. The reason why rainbow 6 has been so long with a game, is because they veered to much away from the formula that makes it great, its good there back to that classic rainbow formula, but with destruction, which will give some new gameplay scenarios.

Far Cry 4?

Can someone tell me what happened in the first 30mins? I missed them because I didn't even know Ubi was having their press conference at the moment. I saw everything after Far Cry 4.

Score so far:
Microsoft - 6: some interesting titles shown, and lot of games I'm interested in, but way too many CG trailers. Sunset overdrive looks absolutely incredible though, stole the show.
EA - 1: I fucking near fell asleep.
Ubi - 4: Started off much stronger than EA and had a legitimate surprise, but just dance and the fitness game brought it down as well as the scripted dialogue and whatnot. Had the best CG trailer so far, and valiant hearts could be good.
MS: B+
EA: A-
Ubi: D
I love EA

It's happened.

Did the Assassin's Creed game all have British sounding accents in France? That one guy said merci merci, but still sounded british.

This E3 does feel really transitional. All the developers are gearing up for current gen and none of the games are ready to show so most of the stuff we're seeing is run of the mill.

Ubisoft 7 - Showed a good amount of gameplay on some interesting games. They managed to make me interested in AC again. Pacing was terrible and too much dancing.

EA 5: Sims! Sports games! I watched the whole thing and only dragon age seemed interesting.

Microsoft 6.5: Really interesting games but way too much CGI. Most of the gameplay was sunset overdrive and multiplats.

They did bring a lot... that I'll be playing on PS4. Beyond that it's clear they showed some.things too early just for the sake of padding out their lineup. No X1 for me this year more than likely.

Next year they're just going to focus on the games announced today, while announcing games even more in the future, so there's plenty of time

Yup, average grade especially after all the excessive hype Phil pulled. Some neat things like Ori and Kamiya.

If Sony were to have had that conference the thread would have been crazy to read, remember all the "Sony's first party won't be there at all they're just gonna show tons of third party crap and indie crap aren't they?" posts.

So far, I would say:

MS: C+
EA: D
UBI: C

MS had a no bullshit conference full of games and a Platinum exclusive, but I wasn't feeling all the CG and there weren't any real surprises. It was good enough, but kind of underwhelming to me.

So far this E3 has been satisfactory, but a bit boring or bland I guess. I'm not expecting Sony's conference to be much better, but I'm more than willing to eat crow if it turns out being full of great games/surprises.

I like Aisha, she can be a little much at times but for the most part she's hilarious.

That whole show was a bit of a let down, AC looked fantastic, as did FC4. But there's nothing else that really blew me away, Rainbow 6 looked interesting, but not great. Everything else was either mediocre or something we've already seen.

All 3 so far have been quite disappointing.

MS - 7 / 10
EA - 5 / 10
UBI - 7 / 10

MS lacked suprises but showed an adequate amount of first party content

EA come back later

UBI gameplay they showed looked great
