2014 Microsoft E3 Conference

I think this was the best press conference ever presentation-wise. Unfortunately the content doesn't align with my tastes. At least not $400 much. There's always next year and consoles only get cheaper.

What amazing games are you talking about? All we saw was CG trailers.

Only Horizon because Crackdown didn't show squat other than yup its coming

The gameplay wasn't leaked but I feel like Sunset Overdrive would had a much larger splash had the gameplay premiered at the conference. Not sure why Microsoft showed it off so early.

Sunset overdrive looks good but I doubt it will receive critical acclaim.

Phantom dust, Scalebound and Crackdown all displayed CGI trailers.

What the hells so exciting about the Halo Master Chief collection? Playing recycled games is just a bore.

Forza 5 looks great if you are into Racing game and Inside looks very intriguing.

Also, there wasn't any true gameplay for Halo 5.

The rest were just Multi-platform games.

No Gears of War, Quantum Break break or any compelling new Intellectual Property.

It was a satisfactory conference but not great. Jeez, some of you people need to get your head out of Microsoft's ass and articulate some constructive criticism for once.

I don't think constructive means what you think it means.

This!

From a format perspective I give this PK a really solid 8/10.
They really gave us games x3 and not bullshit nobody cares about.
But I have to give minus points for to much CGI, these skits with random people and that conker crap.

On the other hand, a PK should make me want to buy the system, but what they showed today doesn't convince me at all that I need to own a Xbox.
Though that is personal preference, so no point arguing that.

yeah. I was thinking that it would release fairly soon since they showed it so early, but its basically coming out in November. That was a bad move

I love all the people shitting on The Master Chief Collection and then hailing The Last of Us Remastered as the second coming.

Let's see how much time Sony wastes on sales figures, media nonsense, project morpheus and other garbage that Microsoft didn't waste time on.

man, pre-e3 rumors about MS look really silly now. they were gonna get huge exclusives, they were leaking/showing alot so they could save plenty for the actual show, etc etc. it wasn't bad per se, it was just...average/decent?

Those types of claims typically require quotes to back up your argument.

Microsoft already showed a lot of PlayStation games. :\

I adore the focus and pace of this conference but wish so much wasn't spoiled before the show.

Master Chief Collection is awesome because it's 4 games in one. I wouldn't look at it twice if it was only an anniversary edition of Halo 2, but getting Halo 1 to 4 in a single package is a very attractive deal. Part of me actually wants to pick-up an Xbox One for it, to re-play the Halo games in co-op with the cousin of mine I used to play Halo 1 and 2 10 years ago - but realistically, it's too expensive for me to justify it. Still, it's a cool package.

Press conference was all around solid, even if it was missing a "wow" part. However, it biggest problem is that it feels like there's nothing for this year except Sunset Overdrive and Halo Collection for this year. But Sony will likely have the same problem this year, I guess.

I wonder if devs have to wait until six months out to announce their games or just put up a screen with the game's name and release date to let people know that their games exist based on the complaints in here.

I thought with the recent examples of alpha & beta leaks, namely Battlefield Hardline showed that people will bitch about gameplay being seen that isn't ready to be seen. I think it's a silly complaint unless the trailers were purposely meant to deceive anyone - which none of them were. Halo 5's CG even used in-game assets despite not being actual gameplay.

Anyways, to me, despite the leaks, the fact that these games were all confirmed to be in development finalized my decision to buy an Xbox One sometime at the end of thids year/early next year. The devs and the sequels that I know that I can enjoy games from shows that it'll be worth picking up for me.

The only trailer that was disappointing to me was the Platinum game. I'm not a Platinum fan anyways, but I know that they're about their action - which didn't even show in their trailer after the guy said "prepare for the action". The Halo collection truly blew away everyone's expectations as Halo fans - I was expecting Halo 2-only MP at the most, but they went all the way there. Incredible.

They even showed The Witcher 3 there as I expected after their relationship with The Witcher 2, which looked so vast and good.

The only thing I missed, and really the only thing after all the announcements was a Gears teaser. But it's all good, the fact that I already know it's happening eases the pain.

With Phil on board they took an excellent approach with announcing things in advance, and making the conference 100% games only. I hope they got great feedback from that and keep it that way from now on.

20 minutes left to see what Sony does and shows.

Cutting out the whole concept of opinions, you talk about articulating constructive criticism, after posting that?

Alright.

We are inside MS ass because we liked the games they showed? Lol

Damn...watched it live and enjoyed it. They lacked the huge bang but games take time...halo is a pretty good bang tho..as a one owner it absolutely made the future look Bright.

Plus some new content for launch games? Ya as a one owner I'm very happy.

Def getting a ps4 for multiplat tho.

All in all I thought they had some great content, though I would have liked to see more of the Halo 5 beta. I guess they already had a boatload of Halo with the collection announcement so I see why they would have passed on it.

Sunset Overdrive was probably my favorite trailer, really thought we were getting another military shooter before the Insomniac logo showed up!

Was honestly looking for a reason to get an XB1 and this conference didn't provide one. I'm not a halo fan or crackdown fan so the only thing that interests me is Sunset Overdrive, as great as it looks it's not enough to get me to buy a console for it.

I'm excited! Forza Horizons 2, Sunset Overdrive, Fable Legends, Halo 5 beta and Master Chief Collection this fall with Quantum Break and Phantom Dust soon after. After swearing off CoD due to Ghosts I'm actually really impressed by what was shown of Advanced Warfare. Witcher 3, Evolve, Assassins Creed Unity, The Division and other 3rd party titles all looking good. Hopefully Destiny turns out better than recent footage suggests. Plus a lot of amazing indie titles and they are definitely holding back a few things for Gamescon.

And then in 2015/16 we could have Scalebound, Halo 5, Gears of War, Tomb Raider, and mother fucking Crackdown 3 among others.

MOTHER FUCKING CRACKDOWN 3!

The OS updates are going to get better and better and games with gold and app access are both competitive with psn+ now. Went with the Xbone as my main console and pretty satisfied after today. Now to see what exclusives I can pick up for the ps4! Pretty good day for news so far.

Thought it was okay though only Sunset and Ori really grabbed my attention.

Everything else was kinda boring to watch with all the CG footage.

Is there a list of what was CG footage versus what was not?

I was under the impression the majority of what was shown was NOT CG.

I have one question,is this conference preaching to the faithful? Or do u think ms has done enough to convert non believers ?

Personally i think its the former. Feels like ms doing a Nintendo direct to me.

I am SHOCKED at the mediocre reception this press conference got. No sales charts, no media apps, just games. This format is what I feel like GAF has been begging for every E3. I mean, most of them were multiplats so I'm probably still not going to get an Xbox One, but damn if I wouldn't be fine if every conference from now on was just trailers and demos from start to finish.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Well I would assume most 2015 games were CG.

They cut the fat which is fantastic, doesn't mean that it automatically gets a bump in score.

GAF would have exploded had the Halo collection not been leaked. It took away some of the buzz from the conference, but at least it is now confirmed.

The only new IP was an indie or two (which I personally love, mind) and that Dragon game at the end with the CGI trailer. Unless I missed something else, and if I did, it was forgettable. I think that's the issue after the Messianic christening of Phil Spencer by the fanboy massses.

Edit: And way too much time given to multiplats and exclusive DLC.
