Final Fantasy Type-0 (Fan) Translation Released

Lets not let the recent announcement for the Type-0 HD remake undermine the work that the team put in to getting this game translated. And keep in mind this is still the only way to play this game on PSP.

EDIT:

Looks like this will be the only way to play this game mobile. Sony make a mistake on the Vita announcement. LOL

I know I'll be sticking to the translation in that case..

"Update: An earlier headline for this post stated that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is coming to PS Vita, which was incorrect. Type-0 is coming to PS4 in North America and Europe."

Wait what the fffff, PS4? That's surprising to say the least

I'm not sure if I want to continue playing with the fan translation anymore then. Great work Sky and all the other members of the team, you did real good but damn, PS4 version is the way to go.

Fuck SE for waiting this long though.

He is pretty easy to Kill Sight with, and the throw lance skill is really strong as I recall. Plus wide are with his down triangle chain. Jack, Eight and Nine are my go-to dudes, Sice, Seven and Deuce my go-to girls.
Melee > ranged

I main Nine and he has a lot going for him. The last two hits of his chain attack are just DEVASTATING, his Jump is great AoE damage and you're immune to damage and effects while in the air and landing. It's also very cheap. The 2nd attack of jump (which looks like a normal spear thrust, but deals way more damage) almost makes back the meter it uses alone. Highest HP and DEF of the entire cast to boost on top.
Cool. I'll give him another go when the PS4 version comes out (I can't believe today's the day I get to type that). For now I'm gonna hold on playing the game, because I really want to experience what's left for me in HD. Might just practice a bit in the arena.

Still keeping my order of the PSP version. SE took too long to say anything about this and even then they aren't putting it on Vita (which people wanted. Cross-buy would have been great). I'll be playing the game in HD with english subs way before the official one comes out.

Guess what. I was right.

About the C&D? Definitely not.
I personally already knew that Type-0 was coming for PS4, and it wouldn't surprise me if the translation team found out about it too, but they definitely didn't get a C&D and defy it or anything.

I have no faith in the PS4 port coming out in any timely fashion. Game looks and plays fantastic on PPSSPP and that's enough for me.

FFX HD was announced at TGS 2011 according to wikipedia and came out... 2 years later? Yeah, I don't think waiting it's a smart choice, lol.

Methinks you guys should play it now and replay it on PS4.

Not the C&D, I already said that.
I was right about them wanting to get it out as soon as possible before E3 because they heard something about it and even if they claim that they feel confident legal-wise it certainly helps if things get ugly in the future and they're forced to remove it.

So about an hour in, only finished the first mission in chapter 1, game looks fantastic btw, but anyone getting an issue on psp where when you put it in sleep mode then come back there's no sound in the game?

Yeah, I think that's likely what I'll do.
Play the fan-translation, then get the game again for new HD, English voices, and trophies.

Think I'm gonna do this. I tried starting the game a month ago but couldn't even figure out how to save so I said I'd wait for the translation. Thing is I have no idea how to hack my PSP or whatever the hell I have to do and even with instructions will probably make a mess of it like I did before. But I finally have time to get into the game and considering the work that has gone into this and the amount of time it'll take for the HD version to come out I might as well play it on PSP.

Yea, I'm still gonna play the translation then probably get it when it comes out. I would like to be wrong, but I don't see it releasing soon either.

I'm glad the Vita has a savestate plugin, no continue option has me repeating a lot.

edit: nevermind, the plugin doesn't seem to work well with this game :(

Here.

The save works well using PPSSPP. It is detected correctly and the Summer costumes were unlocked upon starting a New Game.

You just need to place them (both folders in rar archive) at the following path:-

Code:
your ppsspp directory\memstick\PSP\SAVEDATA

(create the relevant memstick, psp, and savedata folders if they don't exist.)

Do the summer costumes appear as soon as you get control of the first trio, or do they appear more later in the game? My game imported the Summer data but they didn't appear with that white uniform at first.

Later on in the game. You'll get the option to change up their costumes when you find the first save point.

After spending almost 10 hours on the PSP version, I won't bother with the PS4 version, in particular since I already paid for it. On PC the game will look better than anything they can possible offer on PS4 apart from better CGI videos. Also superior voice acting.

Important Question: HOW do I change between Trinity Attack / Thingy Spell / Eidolons? I don't find that option anywhere.

If they actually replace the textures, add new effects, and so on then that's not really the case. Suppose we'll see what they all do though.

Sure if you are a resolution fiend that's true. But I think effect wise the emulated version looks worse than native PSP. Cross Judge for instance looks like ass emulated (to be fair that might have something to to with my settings).

You can only change it up during the start of a new Mission/Exercise from the Party Menu/setup, that bit confounded me as well.

The setting sticks until your next mission.

Speaking of Combat Exercises, holy crap is the first one quite a pain to do. Your average party level is not even 20 and they're already throwing level 35 missions into your face.

I guess grinding is pretty much a must since I don't want to lose access to those exercises by progressing through the story. 12 hours (6 for the world map access and 6 for the exercise itself) expended per exercise is pretty brutal.

So I ended up
going to that region and pummelling enemies until I hit level 32 (too much of a level gap and enemies will own you in 2 or less hits). Entered the combat zone, and was doing okay until the boss, which was a level 40 mecha. Boy was it tough to take down, and his assistants can easily 2-3 shot you and your allies.

Went back to the academy to accept the 2nd, even more difficult exercise (level 36 one).. and there are level 66 mobs that I have to kill in that one. What the fuck.

It's rather hilarious since the next actual story mission itself only has a mission level of 17.

I think the biggest improvement they can do with the HD version is to replace the models that you can control with the ones they use for real time rendered cutscenes. (not the CG vids obviously but the close up models that they use for conversations and events between important characters.) They have well definted facial features and appendages.

It'd be a huge step up. Those look pretty gorgeous, even when uprendered on the emulator.

I don't think you are supposed to do any of the missions on your first play through. I dunno but the wow-level-cap makes it nigh impossible to do anything more than a few level above you. If they seriously think I'll grind out 4 hours just to do them (and apparently that's not enough seeing there is a lvl 66 mob) after I barely played for 4 hours, they can go fuck themselves.

Tried the 2nd bunch of them, but it's impossible as well. I'm lvl 25 (next mission is lvl 23 or something).

Do tell. (and how to enable them using ppsspp if you use it)

Note: This cheat causes at least one event to cause a hard lock. There's probably more. Disable, reset ppsspp and re-load from your latest non-save-state save to bypass the lock.

The latest ppsspp dev build has an easier way to enable cheats, but I'm not using that - no idea how to build from github.

Open your PPSSPP folder, go to memstick, psp, cheats. There should be a ini file named NPJH50443.

Open it, paste;

_C1 Infinite Time in Phantoma Collection
_L 0x2014188C 0x46007346

save, close text editor.

On the PPSSPP window, game settings tab, all the way at the bottom, enable cheats. I don't think they take effect until the emulator restarts. I'm not sure if they activate with save-states either, so you may as well make a real save and load from that.

Will give it a spin. Thanks a bunch!

edit: I don't have a "CHEAT" folder. Should I create one? I use the dev version from 2 days ago or so.

Is it normal to have HUGE framerate drops at some points in this game? I swear it dropped down to about 5 fps in an early part of the game.

Do you know anything about a Vita version? Does it exist at all? Or is Sony (Shahid) trying to get it done from scratch?

FFX HD was announced at that time to celebrate the FF 20th anniversary and to show support for Sony. The announcement was premature indeed, but it definitely wasn't in development since then until release.

Replace some points of the game with all points in the game, and yes.

I just came to a point where the game locks consistently. In the
Magitek Facility
when the
giant robot breaks through the wall
.

It sounds like the audio speeds up by a large amount, and the game just locks. PPSSPP doesn't crash, though.

What kind of info do I need to forward to have this looked into?

Edit: I found the cause of it.. It's the cheat I mentioned above, that makes corpses not disappear until you drain them. I tested it again without that cheat and there was no lock.

Even though I'm probably going to get the PS4 version, I'm going to continue to play the game on my Vita, since this translation patch was one of the main reasons why I decided hack my PSP (and now that TN is working on getting PS1 games w/ sound, I can retire my PSP).

Post the issue into the github thread I linked to earlier on, with the pertinent details like platform, and sys specs.

A video capture using fraps demonstrating the issue will also be helpful in your case.

Also run the emulator in logging mode by double clicking on the DebugLog.bat file in the ppsspp folder. Play the game until the lockups occur, and when it does, close the emulator. A log file called ppsspplog.txt will be produced in the same directory, and it will be quite massive. Zip it up to a manageable size and upload it to your favourite file hoster and link it in your issue report.

Finally, for ease of reproduction by the other devs, share a savestate of your game right before the issue occurs. This will be very helpful so that others wishing to diagnose the issue won't have to spend hours just getting to your spot.

I don't think there's a need. I edited above. Thanks for the info though, I'll make sure to do this if something that isn't my fault comes up.

Hey sweet thanks, I was having the exact same problem and I'm also using that code. Think I'll disable it completely, getting lots of phantoma was nice but it's weird and a bit annoying how the game waits everywhere for you to either harvest the bodies or for them to disappear, who knows what kind of problems it'll spawn later on.

Btw, a question to someone who knows Japanese and has finished the game; how important is the codex to understand the story? I've been ignoring it for the most part so far and someone on the PS4 version announcement thread said lots happens on the background so you need to read the codex a lot to understand what's happening.

Phantoma requirements to get an A in even the first mission itself is pretty crazy lol. Was trying to S rank it but that is the only thing I can't get an A on.

I can't seem to balance it out with the time requirement. It's easy to blast through the earlier missions with juiced up characters in the Mission List replays, but if you do that you end up getting less Phantoma since there are some scenarios where if grunts surrender when their Leaders are dead and since your AI pals wipe them out too quickly, they always surrender indead of giving up Phantoma lol.

I tried out the Phantoma cheat linked earlier and even getting all the possible ones in the very first stage still gave me a C in the final count lol. 49 is not even enough, and yes, I went to the alternate paths as well. :p

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous.

I found a decent google-doc with a lot of info about the game. I don't know if it's complete, but it has helpful info.

For example, the Tips & Tricks tab mentions that if you do missions solo, you only need to get A on 2 categories to get an S rank.
