I've had one since launch, but my buddy finally decided to take the plunge after E3. We went to get the MK8 bundle with a Smash Fest coupon only to find out that it's sold out at every Best Buy in the tristate area. Plus, all of the Smash Fest coupon eligible games were sold out on the floor at both locations we visited. We managed to get a couple of the games from the front counter, and he's getting a $200 refurb Deluxe from Nintendo.

I am buying a refurbished console from Nintendo hopefully on Monday. Getting 2 Wii Remotes with it as well since I don't have any with motion plus.

But yeah, I can related to that because the WiiU is one of the many overpriced games where I live ... if it wasn't for a friend who traveled to Canada there would be no way I would have got the WiiU by now =/
I've had mine for about a year and I love it, but it was an uphill battle convincing anyone that it's a worthwhile investment since there is no third party support. But after E3 one of my friends jumped in and one more is planning to for Zelda.
Through 2015 it really does look like the system with the best line-up (as long as your favorite genre isn't FPS). After that? Who knows. But for what is now about a $200 investment I think it's totally worth it.

The place where I have my stand hooked up doesn't really let me use it that way, unfortunately and I don't have a good place to keep the stand that's near where I play. So basically needed an extra cord. I could temporarily change it around, but it's a super pain to get back behind my TV at this point heh. I need to organize it better somehow. I should have mentioned that information. It's really my own fault with my setup, but kinda necessary for how I want things.

I stopped at Target this afternoon and was this | -- | close to purchasing this bundle.
In the end I decided to be patient and order the refurb + MK8 instead, so that's on it's way. Excited to grab Wind Waker HD as well.

My "unofficial stand" has better ventilation than the official one. There's approximately 5/16" air gap exposed over a run of 5 1/4" for a total vent surface area of around 1.6^2" per side. In addition, the center channel down the bottom side is still functional, and indeed more functional than with no stand as there's more side gaps to pull from instead of just one (front one being mostly blocked by the fan protrusion by default). Add to that the ambient temperature and there's no chance of the PS4 overheating at all.
Props to Nintendo for providing a vertical stand with the Wii U -for free- that adds a proper air gap for ventilation.

I bought it for the Mario Kart 8 free game offer. I went best bang for buck and got myself the NSMB bundle, MK8, Tropical Freeze and got Wind Waker HD for free.
I was torn between this or the PS4 to play Guilty Gear Xrd, but that game isn't out yet. I'm playing Mario Kart 8 right now, I do not regret my decision to buy a Wii U one bit.
I have never had this much fun in years.

Holy cow. I haven't stopped playing with this system since Saturday afternoon. It's now almost Sunday morning.
The virtual console is going to be the death of my wallet. Only played MK8 tonight. Not sure where to begin tomorrow. Holding off on buying Earthbound because I know it will consume my life once again.

Noob question: what's the deal with registering games to your account? Does that affect selling on/trading in games? Just thinking that if I register my MK8 to get the free game, will this registering stop me from being able to sell it?

And dang it, was hoping to find a copy of Wonderful 101 for cheap at Toys R Us yesterday but couldn't. Decided oh well, it's only like 18-19 on Amazon, right? Wrong, that sale's over too. So I guess I'm headed out again today to find a copy and pay full price. Too many people recommending it, and seeing the Giant Bomb quicklook makes me think the game is right up my alley. Unless anyone knows somewhere else to get it on sale?

digital is bound to account.

Which does my head in because there's a post here saying US gets a refurbished one for $200!

I've had a WiiU since the ZombiU bundle. Haven't actually beat a WiiU game on it though :X was trying to clean up some Wii backlog before I did. Though think I'm gonna jump into it when I'm back. Have Zelda HD, W101, and I think I'm gonna grab Mario kart. I know ill he playing the hell out of Hyrule Warriors and Bayobetta 2

Not sure how it is in USA but in EU registering games is done via Club Nintendo site to get virtual currency to buy exclusive Club Nintendo stuff. The physical games can be traded fine, digital ones are tied to you NNID.
Nintendo Defence Force jumping the gun a little bit here and can pipe down. It's not much needed. Those are just one of the few reasons why I haven't bought one yet, is all.
I've already said I'm pleased for those who do enjoy their system.

I keep track of what I buy and make a list of games I wanted for any systems. My Wii U collection is kinda nice atm, just to share if anyone has similar interests. It's going to be like this for retail games.
I'll seriously consider Devil Third again if they have a better showing.
