You also only went up four levels, one of which shot you from 4 to 5 in a manner of 3 kills.I saw this and was slightly concerned. Hopefully it takes a lot longer to level up after 8... i know a lot of us got to 8 VERY quickly.
That's fine to me. I don't wanna have to grind levels. Loot/gear/weapons are far more important.
I believe that Bungie stated that they wanted players to be able to reach maximum level fairly quickly (probably to have access to main class abilities?) but there would be plenty of content that would encourage players to continue improving their character through better equipment.

The only thing that can ruin Destiny is micro transactions (cosmetic or otherwise).
yes, i think destiny got the perfect balance. you get enough stuff to be motivated, but not so much that you don't care anymore.
and the lvl 20 cap is okay, you still level up your space magic/weapons/gear.
Watching football so transferred to remote play on the Vita.
Only 615th in the queue...
What if it's fun to fill bars?!I want to spend a long time doing fun interesting stuff with the abilities I unlock and the weapons I find. Not spend a ton of time getting them in the first place. Play because the game is fun, not because you're filling bars.
A level 20 level cap makes sense because Activision signed bungie to a 10 year deal of making Destiny.
Having them add 10 levels to the level cap every year would at least give people a sense of progression and enemies that scale to that level that lvl 20s won't be able to take on.

I know no one likes to call this an MMO
But unlike other mmo's, there will actually be end game Content (raids, pvp gear, pve gear, ect ect)
I am in agreement with you - read my post again. How is that ridiculous? To me, I'm more likely to create a second or third character if it doesn't take me so long to reach a certain level.
I've read several comments regarding the potential level 20 cap, and reaching it too quickly. Is it not possible that the level progression may take much more xp at higher levels than lower ones? Meaning going from level 15 to 16 (for example) takes so much xp it won't happen quickly.
If higher level progression transpires as quickly as it did in the Alpha than I'm on board the "I hope they change that' wagon.

What if you could buy Halo skins for your weapons. Impossible, but I just kinda freaked out thinking about it.
Given that those Hive peeps you can run into deep into the Forgotten Shore are already lvl. 20, I imagine that whatever the cap is it'll be higher than 20.
how do we know those are level 20? werent their levels just listed as "??". the highest level I actually saw listed before that was 11.
Ok, this has removed any fear i had... sounds perfect!
I wish this game had cross platform play.
Yup, when you're in the menu for the strike mission, bottom left it says Brave, click on that and you can change it to Legend.
when they kill you it says their level
I would imagine the sense of progression comes from leveling up your gear.Hopefully there's still a sense of progression after I hit the level cap. Maybe the higher levels take significantly more time to hit? As long as it's not like getting to inheritor in Reach then I'm okay with that, lol.
Awesome - thank you! Is there actually a noticeable change in the AI?

Took all three classes to level 8 and my pre-alpha favorite class ended up being the one I liked playing as most (warlock). Hoping to get more content for the beta and a higher level cap.
As far as weapons are concerned, I leaned towards the auto rifles for my primary gun. I ended up with a Galahad-C gun that was a 93 damage with rate of fire 600 and clip of 44. Really worked well for me in SP (with the upgraded long range scope) and MP (with the shorter range scope).
Bungie suggests players stick with the Campaign, though, because it includes some exclusive rewards and is designed to offer a smooth experience for levelling up. Conversely, to level up you don't have to do the Campaign missions at all, if you don't want to. You could work to unlock PvP and stick with that. "And we're okay with that," Green added.
"We want this to be about what you want to do and your character's story as you journey through the different activities in the game. If you were playing a game like WOW you could say, 'I could just level up in Battlegrounds,' or, 'I could do quests,' or, 'I could do dungeons.' You've got a lot of options there. If you are the kind of person who just likes Campaign, there's a pretty deep Campaign we have built, and there are reasons to go back into the Campaign and get more out of it."
Lol yeah... I got waxed by those fools a bunch while poking around looking for loot.
Though I never did find out what level those Anointed Acolytes (green enemies) hanging around the basement area close to where you start the game in Exploration mode were; of course, I didn't let them kill me either. Guess I'll do a death run this evening if the alpha is still running when I get home tonight.

Anyone else wish you could name your characters and have it replace your PSN ID/Gamertag in most in-game menus?
They should allow a Spartan suit of armor on the XB1 version. It's a no brainer moneywise for Microsoft / Bungie, but I wonder if people will get in the way of a business decision.
actually not really.
I would rather see gamertags. vs. Raven Icebloods
edit: granted some gamertags are pretty bad too
What if it's fun to fill bars?!
I agree.
I wonder if the Destiny logo and "Alpha" will be part of the HUD come release. Well, "Alpha" wont be there at least, surely.
While yes I'm sure that the levels get harder to reach with each one (we see that here in the alpha already), Bungie have totally said that they want the cap to be quick and easy to reach.
Tank Surfboard.
