'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

I believe the guy who saw it at a french expo and that the game is looking a little bit flat. Sony didn`t show it at E3 (very wired), they didn`t show us any gameplay material at all (not even a pic, even more wired), despite promising many graphical improvements like better textures, shadows, lighting and other stuff. That stinks a little bit to be honest. If it would look nice and effort went into it they would be proudly show us their great work.

Seems for real the project was just a quick resolution and framerate bump despite their lofty claims.

And single handedly destroy a reputation that ND has spent many years building. Of course, because people like you are now drawing such extreme conclusions, WHEN it does finally get released, it will be scrutinised in such minute detail that many people will be disappointed by default.

There have been no 'lofty claims' just excitement for 60fps and better quality graphics. What we know, and what we can rationally expect, is higher framerates (confirmed), higher quality textures (confirmed), better lighting (confirmed) and better quality character builds (confirmed).

When taking all of these confirmations into consideration, my 'expectations' are within the boundaries of what the product is likely to offer. If you, or anyone else, expect something beyond these confirmed improvements and then complain because the game doesn't meet your expectations, then you and others are being 'manipulative', whether by accident or design.

Today I saw someone playing it at Video games story (a vg exhibition in Paris). It looked decent, clean image but nothing more. Don't expect something totally different from the ps3 version. The framerate looked 30ish to me.

So, given arne's post, what you in fact witnessed was somebody playing the PS3 version of the game. Well, that or you just conjured up a lie for the attention it'd bring, but surely you're not that silly.

I missed that post. Has he verified it was the PS3 version in this thread?

edit: I see it below.

This lie needs dealing with.

I don´t think he lied, he saw the PS Now version of the Last of US played on a PS4 upscaled to 1080P, so it looked clean.

Whats with Naughty Dog and the super menacing portrait photos recently?

... I never realised until you mentioned it that ND dev profiles on Twitter has quite a few of them in the black/white portrait theme.

I've never heard of this French event.
We haven't gone gold yet.
We're still making updates to live code every day.
I, at least, can tell the difference between the PS3 version and the PS4 version from the opening sequence of the game.

Well.

That's that.

I mean isn't it as simple as checking the console on which the game was running? Or only the tv running the game was on display?

Edit : oh forgot about PSNow

I didn't get to play the game since I didn't have access to my PS3 for a while. I did get to see how the game is through some play through on YouTube. Still excited for it and glad the remaster is coming. I wish I hadn't played GTA V on 360 but I commend all those who had the nerves of steel to wait for the ultimate versions.

I held out on GTA5 as well, last gen went on far too long and was ready to change in Feb 2013....Ps4 just could not come soon enough.

Frame rate stutters / tearing lessen enjoyment for me, so I could wait especially reading DF and frame drops in those games.

Also I played 360 more for multiplats, as the triggers on Ps3 for shooters sucked imo.

DS4 is sweetness. Hopefully we can use R2 to fire

And the plot thickens.

Why should they lose time working on a demo when they are so busy finishing the game? Do you want the game delayed again so they can make a demo? I don't see how this would be better logic at all.

but it's censored over there, right?

Only the MP was censored a bit. Nobody knows how it's going to be in the Remaster. But why should it not be the same? The content of the game is the same, so i don't think that they are going to soften the regulation.

The toned-down MP violence will remain. I don't have a link on-hand, but it was confirmed in the PS Blog comments section by an ND/Sony rep.

Thanks for clearing this up. It was obvious that poster was wrong in any case.

Umm...that really doesn't sound too clever dude.

Doubts about the game are one thing. But thinking it's a rush job, and using a fatuous post as evidence for this, is not very convincing an argument at all.

I'm sure the PS4 version will be glorious. If you played Tomb Raider on PS4 and witnessed what Eidos managed to accomplish with their PS3 game, Naughty Dogs upgrade will be just fine.

Excellent news.

So, GAF, are there any consequences for dragging this thread into what was clearly a giant attention-getting fabrication?

Like others said, he probably saw it running on PSnow. While it's not available in Europe, there really isn't anything that would stop them from demoing it there.

I couldn't believe people were actually believing the guy. Not to say he purposely came here with intent to lie, but why would ND/Sony use a small event that no one knows of to show one of their biggest games of the year? It just didn't make sense.

Advertising it where?

I know TV is not the only form of advertising, but there's certainly no marketing for it there.
I've seen ads on gaming sites.

I don't know what not having released gameplay footage has to do with video advertising though, TV ads and little pop up clips are always basically very short trailers. If TLoU gets TV ads, it'll be basically a twenty second cut of the E3 trailer.

Am I alone in not wanting to see any gameplay footage whatsoever? I've played the game 7 times so my one big joy will be discovering all the graphical enhancements.

Never mind can't read. I somewhat agree with you, I'm not interested in seeing upgraded visuals beforehand. I would love to get a ton of confirmation that it is a constant 60fps though.

That being said the game is preordered, paid off already, and I trust ND to deliver.
