To everyone saying EAD Tokyo, need I remind everyone...

Not to mention it may have a spiritual successor in Captain Toad's Magical Adventures.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat wasn't exactly my type of game (I prefer more traditional 2D platformers where I can usually go at a slower pace) but I wouldn't consider it a bad game.

Paradox development studio. It is an amazing list of games. It is niche genre so a lot of people might not agree I guess.

Obsidian. Some games may have been a bit janky (which if fault of publishers, they are responsible for QA), but all of them have been good, great, or fantastic. Yes, Dungeon Siege 3 was good.

Someone is going to need to explain to me how a game rated universally lower than it's predecessors and lambasted for it's decidedly mediocre experience and terrible controls is a "good" game? Also they made Alpha Protocol, which was a steam hot pile of excrement.

The list of developers who have never made a bad game, who also have made more than 5 games, is very short. I'm going to submit Sucker Punch though:

Kragga's didn't come out for a month or two after launch if memory serves correctly. Rift had a much smaller development budget and had a much more fleshed out endgame than SWTOR did. The crappy engine made the game feel less fluid, but if were talking about design choices I'd say the the carbon copy classes (BH --> Trooper, etc) was more egregious than choosing an unproven engine.

karaggas came pretty much exactly 1 month after release.

and the carbon copy classes are honestly great, I wish all the mmos had that.

because, basically, its nothing else than an own skin for every class for every faction, i thought that was a great decision.

Like how buying a company means you made a game now. Valve haven't made shit outside DOTA2 and Half-Life.

They didn't even make those. They bought Dota from Blizzard Interactive and Half-Life is based on some scientific theory whose creation Valve has nothing to do with.

Lotta people are saying Retro Studios, but lets not forget the subject is developers who gave never MADE a bad game, not RELEASED. Nintendo canceled a number of Retro's games due to poor quality. Retro hasn't released a bad game because Nintendo won't let them.

Have any of the rockstar devs released a really really bad game? There's been the odd disappointing one (gta4) but nothing that has sucked completely. Pretty much the only thing I've not played is the manhunt series.

This disqualifies every developer.

Serious lack of several Sega teams in here... Many have quantity and quality, which is obviously difficult to achieve.

I realize that the aaverage age of GAFFERS is probably low twenties to high teens, but the younger generation is plainly clueless about gaming that existed before last generation...

GTA IV was only disappointing after a year or so but what it brought to the new generation as far as open world games go, you can't talk trash about it. When it was released, you were in awe until other games started to come out that matched their graphics or even better.

Alpha Protocol is a fantastic game and one of the best of last gen.

Also Vlambeer. Although I haven't played Nuclear Throne yet (waiting for full release) I've heard nothing but good. And the rest of their games are awesome.

Well, I finished both DS3 and AP, and DS3 was most enjoyable from all DS games, but because it was different and had completely different design sensibilities and controls, it became instahated.

AP was fantastic, but I really don't feel like elaborating much to someone who calls it the way you do.

I don't think its just the younger generation, there's a lot of Sega blindness about. Too many people see them as just the Sonic company. Sadly it also explains why most of what we get from the company in the west these days (acquired devs aside) is Sonic.

Retro Studios: Metroid Primes 1-3 all range from incredible to very good, DKCR and DKC:TF are arguably better than the originals, and at the very least are incredibly competent platformers.

Tokyo EAD: Jungle Beat is incredible, the galaxy games are incredible, and the 3D __ series is also incredible. They're on fire right now.
