Freedom Wars will be a digital-only release in Europe.

Not that surprising. Sony is barely even supporting the game in the West (not even a trailer at E3).

On a side note, I'd buy the digital version for $20 at launch (retail is currently $30).

But by doing that you will be missing on what could be the most fun part of the game, the PvP and Co-op and so on

US account, bye bye SCEE no DLC money for ya

So SCEE really doesn't want my money. US import it is, then.

I just mentioned it in another thread, Vita 2000 (PCH-2000) still isn't available in most of Europe (except for the UK).
Whoever is responsible for the way PS Vita is handled in Europe does not deserve his or her job.

PS.
64GB memory cards STILL are available only in Asia, which also forced me to import instead of buying locally. FFS, Sony.

Vita2000 seems to be stealth released in limited quantities, I see it pop up here and there on random online shops, Amazon.fr has it close to a month now too.

Do you think these new releases get a hefty discount 2 month after release?

Killzone got a sale last year during christmas time and was released in September, so there is a chance i would say

Tearaway was on sale in February aned was released in November

They'd rather talk about statistics and tv shows than showing stuff like Freedom Wars or Oreshika at the main gaming event of the year.

Glad I have been 100% digital from day 1 on Vita. Sucks for those who want retail but at least you can import the US version, unless there is some problems with DLC and whatnot?

You're locked into one account with the Vita so if anyone chose a European account then they can't buy the DLC.

There's also the fact that this game seem to have on-line pass so we're screwed either way.

It's completely mind boggling that SCEA opted for a physical copy and SCEE didn't.

This so much.

I don't really think this is a huge deal, although I'm exclusively digital on my Vita anyway, so it doesn't really affect me. However, unless the price on launch is really good I will probably wait for a sale on it.

This makes no sense.

The HD collections (Ratchet, Sly, Jak) get a physical releases and one of the few original games from Sony doesn't.

Idiotic.

Welp, no sale from me.

You know things are fucked when Sony won't release first-party games at retail for it. Shameful.

So what's the reasoning behind that decision then? Considering Vita games sell better in Europe than in the U.S., you'd think it would be the other way around.

I hate this digital only crap. A lot of vita games do it in Europe and same goes for games like SMT IV. I actually skip games that are digital only like this. I'm not going to get SMT either unless they have some insane sale... which I doubt they will. I detest digital games especially when other regions have boxed copies. If you don't want to have a physical release...at least do a really limited one for people that do! I guess I'll wait for this to go on PS Plus...because I bet it will.

More showing Sony across the board in the West seems to not give a fuck about the Vita.

I only care to play the games, not in which media they come in. DD or physical is fine.

I don't see why this is a big deal unless you don't have a big enough card but which serious Vita owner only sports a 4GB?

I've never been hampered for space as I went with a 32 and now a 64GB card. That's me.

This game has just gone from day one purchase to "wait until it's sub-20€".

The game looks awesome and I really want to play it, but there is no excuse here. So I will control myself and get other stuff that deserves my money more than Sony.

But hey! I'm sure releasing a retail version for games like J&D Collection or Epic Mickey 2 was a better investment.

It's a big deal because it's the Vita's great first party game of 2014 and it's getting only released digitaly.
It's not very hard to see the point.

Since retail games and especially japanese ones sells well in Europe, could it be digital-only because europeans are more open to it ? It may be the reason, Sony perhaps thinks that europeans are used to buy PSN games so they won't notice that much...

It's a big deal because Vita needs retail presence. And a new full-priced game from a first party should never be digital only.

Between SCEA not re-stocking hardware in NA and and SCEE not releasing games at retail, they continue to show how little they care about the system and their fans.

Right.

It's like releasing Unharted 4 via PSN Store only. "Not big deal, everybody has a 500GB HDD".

I have a 32gb cards and currently at least 40 PSN games, not including PSP and movies, I'm fed up with constantly having to manage the memory. Upgrading memory card is not even an option, it would cost more than the game itself.

You don't see the issue? I only have an 8gb card because fuck Sony's stupid prices. Day light robbery. But even if space wasn't an issue, for me physical obliterates digital any day of the week. Much better prices, the ability to swap and trade etc works better with my lifestyle.

I don't mind digital and I see why some go with that route but for me when a game is available physical everywhere but not in...say Europe for no damn reason well fuck that game. It seems silly to miss out on a game because of this but on the contrary. I'd only buy this game BECAUSE it was physical and 9 times out of 10 I'd get it day one at an awesome price because hey retail competition! It doesn't jive with me paying more for a digital copy. Give me it at a heavily reduced price and I'll talk but until then I'm wait for it to hit the PS Plus wagon. I did the same the Ace Attorney and I'll do the same with SMT (not buying them that is.)

Oh god damn it, first SS Delta and now this? If Sony wants me to keep buying their games they better slash those memory card prices real quick.

Its a real online pass? Not mixing this up with a season pass? I thought Sony don't want to do those anymore

It's an online pass. It comes with every copy of the game. Hilariously, the online mode isn't even in the game yet.

Sony's online pass stance was changed because PS4 users have to subscribe to PS+ for online gameplay. That's not the case on Vita. I guess it's full circle since SCE's first online pass enabled title was on PSP and their last will be on Vita.

That's not the way to treat the European faithful. :(

This means I'll be more likely to give my money to SCEA or to wait for a massive discount on the EU PSN. Not the result intended, I'd wager.

I had a hunch that this would happen since no EU stores had it up for pre-order although US stores already had it for a long time. Nevertheless I am really disappointed especially because of the existence of an online pass and probably DLC as well.
On the one hand I really want to import now but on the other hand I was looking forward to playing online with fellow Vita-Gaffers...

I get that mentality but it doesn't apply to me and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Even if I had a 32GB card I would just make room but as I said, I alleviated that burden a while ago when I got a 64GB card.

Stupid decision is stupid, SCEE.

BTW, since when we're stuck with one account on VIta? It's annoying, I know, but we can easily backup one account, factory reset the console and restore another account (US in this case). i do it all the time with my EU and JPN accounts.

Nah. Just incompetence.

More like having a half of brain for business. This would literally sell 5 copies on retail. Vita fans don't give a fuck. If you're still on board with that machine I think nothing can sway you. In fact it's a miracle this game is even coming over.
