May American Horror Story and Orange Is The New Black sweep tbh
Let me alos echo the sentiment that RUPaul's drag race deserves a nom,
I mean

Outstanding Reality Competition Program
"The Amazing Race"
"Dancing With The Stars"
"Project Runway"
"So You Think You Can Dance"
"Top Chef"
"The Voice"

It practically combines Dancing with the stars, with Project Runway and the Voice.
They obviously need to add more cooking challenges to get a consideration.

Ty Burrel for sup Actor Comedy, Nathan Lane for guest actor comedy and a Knighthood for Peter Dinklage tbh

Mad Men - 4
Fargo - 18

...

Think Breaking Bad deserves best drama, and while I think Cranston in Ozymandias >>>>>>>> all, I won't be upset if McConaughey wins best actor. He was really good in that role.

We will soon be living in a world where Jon Hamm never won an Emmy for Don Draper.

Christ.
naw he will get it next year. There's no way he does't get at least one. I think this year Cranston and MM did the best job but MM didn't do enough to edge out Cranston.

Just because Treme had a mini season it doesn't make it a mini series. But whatever, hopefully True Detective takes this. I'd also like to see Woody win over Matthew, but that won't happen.

Tatiana Maslany robbed again. A whopping zero nominations, while Jim Parsons and co. clean up again? Bullpoop, Emmy voters. Somebody subscribe them to BBC America, or get Orphan Black on PBS Masterpiece or something

I think Cranston will get it but McConaughey is a strong contender. Spacey might slip in and take it from both though.

Maslany not that good.

*runs*

To clarify, she's good, but the missing nomination is not a snub. Would be fine with her getting nominated, but it's not "oh my goood"-level of surprising/undeserved.

Pretty shitty nominations overall, but that was to be expected. No noms for Hannibal for example was a given. The Big Bang-noms are a bitter joke. Shameless-nom for Dr Morgenstern is fantastic, same goes for Orange's actress-noms. Josh Charles got nominated - jup!

Christ.

He'll get one next year that will effectively be for the whole show. Similar to Kyle Chandler's win for Friday Night Lights.

It's up to HBO's discretion. They submitted True Detective for series and Treme for mini. Just as well, too, for Treme's sake.

McConaughey already won the Critics Choice TV Award over Cranston. As much as I love Cranston in Breaking Bad, I'm not entirely confident that he'll win this one. It's going to be between the two of them for sure.

Could they not get TD in the mini series category? Nobody is beating Breaking Bad this year.

HBO elected to enter for Main series versus Mini-series. Seems like an odd choice as it means cannibalizing their GoT nominations, but probably good news for the Fargo Team.

Was Rectify not in contention at all this year? The first season was outstanding, so I'm kind of surprised it didn't get one nom tbh.

Indeed. Outstanding as the final season of BB was (Dat Ending) I think MM is probably going to take this one. Cranstons won best actor a few times already (3 IIRC). Giving him yet another award for playing the same character gets kind of farcical after a while. Love WW, but I think there was more complexity to what was required of MM as Rust Cohle in terms of transformation over the time period.

The Treme-nom as Miniseries is this years 'excuse' for me to not care. What in the flying fuck? Ridiclious. Higher winning chances my ass.

I want to see McConaughey, Thornton and Dinklage win their emmies, dont care much about everything else

would have prefered Mikkelsen over Dinklage though

and I hope Hamm gets one next year, McConaughey was just better this season, but Hamm really needs to have one, too

They only had 5 episodes. You need 6 episodes to be considered a series -- anything less is a mini.

I guess they figured aside from tech and possibly Dinklage (not this year though), Game of Thrones has no chance of winning while True Detective does. They haven't won much of anything major in awhile.

Oh, that makes sense then.

Yeah I think Cranston may not get it due to typical emmy politics. "we already gave it to cranston enough times and only have one chance to give it to Matthew"

Yeah I guess going large with TD makes a fair amount of sense, but still a risk given BBs popularity. As stated I expect MM to beat out Brian Cranston for Lead actor, but I'm not sure whether it will win best drama over BB.

TBF I think MM put in a pretty stellar performance. Albeit I don't think TD quite delivered on its promise with the finale, I don't think there's any faulting the acting or the directing.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Brooklyn Nine-Nine didn't get nominated for comedy? What?

Also, lol at Jimmy Fallon getting nominated for "guest actor" on his own show.

Breaking Bad will probably take most of it's nominations as one final sendoff for the series. The last season was pretty much the highest note for everyone involved and no amount of hindsight bias will change that.

That does seem like a massive oversight

The forget about Hannibal once again.

I think Hannibal is too camp a show to ever get nominated. It operates in too much of a polished unreality to be taken seriously versus other fare. Not to say its not good, it's just not grounded enough in terms of its intentions.

Season 1 of Rectify fell in last year's eligibility period, while S2 has obviously missed this year's eligibility period.

So basically, it already got ignored last year, it's not eligible this year, and you can almost certainly count on it to get ignored again next year.

I'm disappointed it didn't get a nom either. Great show.

Happy to see Silicon Valley sneak in, it's a good little show. It's a bummer that Hannibal, the Americans and the Good Wife were snubbed while Downton Abbey keeps being a perennial nominee. I'm surprised Ricky Gervais got a nom. I was under the impression that Derek isn't very good.

Silicon Valley's success pleases me the most, I was worried it might get looked over. I wish Christopher Evan Welch showed up posthumously in the Guest Actor - Comedy category, that would've been the best outcome.

Hannibal will continue to get snubbed, but it's a situation where the fans fucking love it and critics do to but it's a hard sell to get anyone outside of that bubble interested. Just be thankful it gets to exist at all.

Flavor of the year? It didn't even come close to the amount of hype Breaking Bad got in it's last few episodes.

thankfully for true detective Breaking Bad was very inconsistent in its last 8 episodes.

seriously those of you rooting for breaking bad, did you actually watch it or is it just the hype talking?

And snubbing Hannibal herself at the same time.

Awards could help it though. That's part of what's annoying.

I watched it and all of it was amazing. I have to say though I have not watched True Detective yet so I can't really say anything about it.

Really sad to not see TGW in best drama, it better win something this year. Last season was very good and each season been consistently amazing. Completely made me rethink the quality of network dramas.

It comes down to True Detective v Breaking Bad for me. I'll be happy with either winning the Drama category though I'm probably pulling for Breaking Bad as it's done now.

I wonder if having Harrelson and McConaughey might end up costing either of them actually winning due to vote splitting and Cranston winning as a result.

I'm pretty unhappy that Hitting The Fan won't be winning every award. TGW was robbed; this season was fantastic and only made better by coming at a point in a show's life where things are usually getting stale.

More meaningless award show validation still would have been attention the show could use; being a CBS legal drama means people don't take its legit goodness seriously enough.

It'll be interesting to see if Breaking Bad or True Detective clean house, since I'm sure one or the other will.

Too bad Dean Norris didn't get nommed for Best Supporting Actor cause he was damn good as Hank in BB's final season.

Give Veep everything in the comedy categories. It 100% slays every other show on the air.

I would vote for True Detective, but I am sure it will be a 2 horse race with Breaking Bad.

My unvarnished thoughts:

- So You Think You Can Dance almost singlehandedly keeping Fox in the Emmy limelight. Please don't get canceled!

- It's a travesty that RuPaul's Drag Race still hasn't been nominated after all these years. It'd at least have Best Host under eternal lock.

- YAY for Christina Hendricks. Not sure what material got her nominated this year, though, since she didn't really have any big moments on Mad Men last year (not like her S5 stuff at least).

- Homeland still getting anything is a joke.

- What a jacked lineup for Best Lead Actor (Drama). Television is firmly in a place now that equals the best of film.

As long as there is an equal split of awards between Breaking Bad and True Detective I'll be a happy man.

If Homeland wins shit this year the Emmy's are dead to me.

Also, Billy Bob Thornton for Fargo. What a performance.

Pretty much how I feel. I know it wouldn't have won for outstanding drama, but what the hell, I feel like the only person who realizes how good this show is sometimes. That would have hopefully gotten it the attention it deserves. It's every bit as good as people think Breaking Bad, True Detective, Game of Thrones, and House of Cards are.
