Mods sound great but have the exact same problem.

If you've seen one town, you've seen them all. The world is dead. Everything is static. I don't understand how people can play SP for hundreds of hours. Unless you're happy with repetition.
that's 100% true but mods really liven it up in other ways like adding new stuff you can do with your troops and diplomacy and crap

i've played the series collectively for like 200 hours and i never really tire of it because of how much there is to do

say you start the game and join a kingdom and do your best to help them crush the other kingdoms and become a marshall and eventually get your own towns and castles to defend and whatnot. but then next playthrough you decide to be a bandit and see how much you can scam and pillage and get away with it to the point that whole armies are constantly chasing you. or you can just try to help a throne claimer's band of rebels take over the crown or just try and marry someone and get their land or try and get rich by trading between countries and taking off jobs and doing mercenary work, selling slaves and such

there's a lot of different ideas and you can mix all of them and find a lot of fun stuff without ever walking inside a town (mods let you just talk to whoever you want from a list which saves you a lot of headaches)

mount & blade is amazing and mods do help a lot to make it eternally replayable, even if they don't fix a lot of things. mount & blade is not a content-based game, most of it is just funny situations that happen because of how do you choose to engage with all the different systems in place.

i once married a guy that immediately later defected to an enemy kingdom and i had to defeat him in combat and take him prisoner and sold him as a slave. i've been hated by virtually every lord in the game at the same time. i've conquered every kingdom.

the world is your oyster, pick a goal in life and live it

Any must have M&B mods that I can use in conjunction with the Clash of Kings mod?

Lucius got cards? Sweet. I'm bored right now and this has been on my backlog for a while - so I guess it's time to play some Lucius.

btw mount & blade is probably the best game i've played that's done interesting things with gender choice

which is funny considering this is a game in which you can at any given point change your name, race and facial features and that lets you put dresses on your soldiers and change their names

There's a talent called "Pet Pal", with it you can talk to the animals.

Edit: It's also a good way to pick up quest clues.

Thanks!

I'm actually very overwhelmed by the amount of possibilities I always have.
And the fact that I can actually fail any quest any time because of some tiny detail I didn't even thought would have mattered.
All these things hit really hard on my OCD. :D

Anyway, talking of D:OS, I'm not sure I fully got how the "two players" concept works.
ATM I'm basically playing "single player", randomly switching between the two, and it seems fine.
But it is SO annoying that they have a separate inventory, because every barter becomes a royal pain in the butt.

All in all, though, after 3 or so hours, this inventory thing is probably the only flaw I can find in this game, so I guess it's fine...

Have your coop setting enabled, so friends can jump in any time.

And you can send each characters' stuff to the person with the highest barter skill, and then trade.

but why would anyone want Desura keys? ;)

I usually participate on Desura keys giveaways since I consider them as a potential " finding rough diamonds buried on heaps of poop" scenario. Games are still games, and it would be sad if no one plays a work tirelessly created by someone.
Desura has a feature, that you can get Steamkeys later on, if the Game is released on Steam.
To be honest, I don't redeem steam versions of games I've won / took from here. I usually just give it away to a friend so that they don't just play COD and FIFA.

Thanks again!

I think I'm gonna start over, now that I now a little bit more about some things that can help me for the very first events!

How do I git gud? Everytime I get to like 15 soldiers, I get beaten in battle and captured. I'm trying to be a valiant knight, but at this point I'm more like Sir Nicketty Nox than Sir Lancelot.

Depends on who you're fighting.

If it's bandits, stay away from the khergit, sarranid, and vaegir bandits. Those are tough mother fuckers to train your troops on. Stick to forest and mountain bandits.

If its a kingdom you're fighting; don't. Where one lord fights you, many will follow. Before you join a lord, be sure you're able to win the war by yourself, or you will get crushed by the AI pulling soldiers out of their asses.

Always be sure to outclass the enemy troops. Quality over quantity for sure unless it's 5 to 1. And make yourself the most badass troop of all. Stick to upping leadership, inventory management, and combat skills (be sure to have one, and only one, ranged attack).

ALSO NEVER DIE. If you die you automatically retreat and lose the fight. Self preservation at all costs.

lol @ Soul Gambler

"Looking for me? But I think we didn't meet before." is such a natural thing that everyone says and not at all stilted english written by some polish dude. You guys just keep digging the grave deeper and deeper for VNs with all your screenshots.

I even gave Cinders a shot just for this thread. The writing was fucking embarassing.

That is no longer a feature Desura wants to support. Devs can still do it but the days of "desura key = steam key" are gone.

Horrible gimmick.

Yeah mechanically it's a bit of a gears of war clone but a really good one, with some cool enemies and bosses, there are some interesting dialogues and minor choices too. Heard the keyboard and mouse controls aren't good so it's best to play with a controller.

Personally, I loved it. As much as the core base mechanics are unmistakably Gears of War, there are a few innovations thrown into the mix, to varying degrees of success:
- dynamic damage models (shoot an arm, it gets blown off. Shoot armor, it gets blown off, and so on)
- variegated locales and weapons, plus a unique upgrade system
- more dynamic team mechanics
- that boice command gimmick that, albeit malfunctioning 91% of the times, is still damn cool
- an interesting and, by the time of the final twists and turns, pleasantly surprising storyline
- awesome bosses, God-of-War sized ones no less!
For so cheap, I would get it straight away - note that multiplayer DLC is, by all ends and means, useless.

Servizio

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?

It's Japan's attempt at Gears of War/Mass Effect. If you thought either of those franchises was too subtle and needed a shot of Japanese wackiness, it's worth it. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Although, considering it in a Humble Bundle awhile ago, it might be available cheaper via trading/keys. Yeah, it's about 2 keys on the trading sites.

Question, SteamGAF: lately I've rewatched some videos of God of War 3 and Silent Hill - The Arcade. Needless to say, two genres I love (3rd person hack 'n slash/lightgun) ad no way to play either.
So, any good advice for games in the same leagues? Keep in mind I already own HoTD:O, Marlow Briggs, DmC3/4. And fine-combed MAWS back in its heyday.

For some reason neither Steam nor Enhanced Steam showed that I owned this, so I accidentally bought an extra copy from Nuuvem. It's a DLC for Europa IV, so you'll have to own the base game to activate it.

I am giving away a Steam key. To enter this giveaway, send a PM to ModBot with any subject line. In the body, copy and paste the entire line from the message below containing the game you want to enter for.

- Do not trade keys you win off-site to enrich yourself. Don't try to claim games you have no interest in collecting or playing. Don't claim games to give them to friends off-site.
- If the key is already taken you will not receive a reply. Replies may take a minute or two.

Rules for this Giveaway:
- If you are a lurker you are not eligible for this giveaway. You need five or more posts in either the current Steam thread or the previous one to be eligible
- This giveaway is a LIGHTNING raffle. The winners will be selected by random draw 15 minutes after the draw was created. Any games not claimed after that point will be given away first come first serve.

I assumed this was the case after reading the game summary by the developers.

You should also really check out Enslaved, and it might be exactly what you are looking for (If you didn't play it on consoles already that is)

Got both, cleared both. I was considering DmC and LoS2.

Have it and halfway through

What about lightgun games? Did any get a PC release apart from HOTD3 and HOTD:O?
