That's rerere. It's special, but you can poke with it sometimes since goes practically god damn full screen and gives high reward on hit.

I'm in the process of learning guilty for the first time with Xrd now and using Faust myself. It's actually not that hard to get into! There's a ton of info on older versions of guilty out there which is still really helpful for learning Xrd. We should share notes, haha.
Ah, I see. Yeah, the range on it looks bonkers lol. And either people weren't punishing it correctly in the vids I've seen or it seems pretty safe from almost max range too. Which is f.s then?

Sure! But I can't be of any help at the moment lol. I'm waiting for it to be closer to Xrd's release before I start digging into guides and tutorial vids since I have an easier time learning when I have the actual game in front of me to mimic what I see/read. Right now I'm just watching vids of him being played to get an idea of his game plan.
Just wondering everyone's opinions on fightpads.

In particular, the madcatz fightpad series, vs classics such as the sega saturn controller, or a mega drive II 6 button controller.

I imagine the latter examples are harder to find reliable and low latency converters for? But I suppose what i'm wondering about the most is the madcatz build quality of the d-pad and face buttons compared to the sega controllers. Perhaps there's another 6 face button solution I've not heard of as well.
The impressions I've seen on here are mostly that they have a nice feel but that the build quality can vary wildly. I just want to note that I've never actually used one myself. Some people have said they have madcatz pads that last for 3 months, other for 6 months, and I've seen at least one person who said his lasted longer than a year.

You might want to consider making a seperate thread for the question so you can get actual people who've used them to respond.

I think we'll know that fighting games have gone full e-sports when people can produce content (like articles and videos) for a living about the game, like the way many top (ad not-so-top) LoL and Dota 2 players do. It's a two sided problem: there's not enough material produced for people learning the game, and the content that is produced is not easily digested. Stuff like Arturo's match analysis videos or Aris' character guides are great resources, but at between 2-4 hours only the most dedicated are going to go through all of it. I think good editing would help, but that means it's going to take more time to produce said content.
I've actually been thinking about starting to produce video tutorials, but I don't know what kind of equipment I need for it. I would give it the kind of dedication I gave the Dormammu Guide, with the same idea of providing basics and information for newcomers.

probably the basics are something to capture the game, a mic, and a video editing software (ie sony vegas/windows movie maker)

Windows move maker is extremely limited. I reccomend some big boy video editing software like adobe premier but they're not free.

karticles you're gonna need a capture device.

Thanks for the response. Yeah I'll consider making a thread for it. I'll give it a bit more time though and see if anyone else chimes in first. Ideally, I'd like to use the revised saturn pad..

..as it is based heavily off the 2nd gen mega drive / genesis controller design, and retains the brilliant d-pad, but also brings the shoulder buttons which I'd need. But of course, I'd need to find a converter worthy of making it feasible on a modern machine. I get the feeling, like you've heard, that the madcatz might only be a temporary solution due to its lack of longevity. But I'd definitely like more anecdotal experience before I decide.

We'll if you're capturing gameplay on a ps4 then I don't thing so but there isn't any fighting games on the console atm if I understand fully how it works. Also I heard it's limited in the amount of footage you can capture.

I remember on twitter when Justin Wong and PR Rog had a passing interests in play BlazBlue for a hot minute and they were asking whic character should they play. A lot of the anime top players threw answers at them telling then that they should play a b and c for x y an z reasons. Of course these guys never picked up the game seriously but for them asking who to play didn't result in ire from the anime community. They did their part and now it's up to justin and pr rog to actually press buttons

Late to the topic but to be fair to Justin he did play CT when he first came out. I remember him playing Litchi, which is no surprise because he likes Chinese characters (he closes his eyes and imagines Iron Fist is asian....it's okay I do too). He actually did well in the much smaller tournaments like if there was a weekly and I remember when the game was getting dumb with the Nus he played her an bit (or so he mentioned on some stream). But eventually he didn't like CT (and a lot of people didn't by the end honestly). If he stuck with it, I think he would have done well because Litchi is a character who generally is solid at worst and top tier at best.

I was thinking about starting it with PS4 games like GGXrd. Then again, I would probably want to do stuff for Smash, too, so I should probably get a capture card.

When did Jaxel have his heel turn?
I personally pin it on when he turned on Big E over some stuff that happened and *shock* he pretty much had no support on that. The stunt he pulled by hijacking content from Dustloop several years back didn't help, either.

He's always been kind of blunt and abrasive, but I think the real bridges got burned when he jumped on that whole "TOs profiting from tournament fees" conspiracy theory. And that played out on GAF, even.

I didn't know he was apart of that ridiculous argument.

Right, I remember that and was definitely around for it (at least, I read a lot of it but was on vacation). What's this about the hijacking content from Dustloop thing though?

That's when it certainly happened for me.

Seems like he hasn't gotten much better at arguing though.

The VxG commentary consists of about 3 seconds of gameplay commentary, followed by 5 minutes of talking about themselves or the Carribean scene. Uhhhh...

What makes people hate r/kappa so much? I haven't visited it much but it just seems like an extension of that old funny FGC moment/meme tumblr a while back that nobody complained about.

They're stream monsters on reddit. Plus, it's 90% FGC drama and hating.

It's disproportionally populated by the type of people who eat up and propagate tabloid gossip. I imagine that most people who are in the spotlight a lot would hate it.

If Chrono Phantasma 2.0 isn't a DLC update, that would be the stupidest thing.
Celica is like everywhere on the Chrono Phantasma stuff. She's on the LE box, she's the central character of the Vita box.

That she hasn't been playable already is pretty crazy, but if she were never to be available in that version? I don't even know.

I'm going to be playing Attack on Cataclysm a lot after it comes out.

Until then, I plan to be playing the old version of the game to learn as much about it as I can. If you didn't know, a completed version of Yatagarasu (v4.3) is available and can be purchased via Rice Digital for 8 pounds (which is about $13). It has the original 8 characters and online play, although there are unfortunately very few players at the moment.

I will be streaming the old version to learn mechanics and characters, and I plan to release youtube videos compiling the things that I've learned in the form of Yatagarasu tutorials, starting with mechanics then transitioning to character videos. I hope you find them useful!

I want this game to succeed, so I will put effort into making sure that there is content for new players to absorb.

If you are interested in Yatagarasu and have a question about the game system or a particular character, post it here or please visit my stream where it will be easy to -show you- the answer.

I wanna know about the girls with the swords (Shimo mainly)

generally how does the game "flow"?

I didn't know he was apart of that ridiculous argument.

That sucks. Another gaffer, Icantspele, also won a trip there in a twitter contest but never received it.

What makes people hate r/kappa so much? I haven't visited it much but it just seems like an extension of that old funny FGC moment/meme tumblr a while back that nobody complained about.

That's why I go there. All of the FGC related photoshops and gifs get archived there, so I don't even need to keep local copies of them on my PC. As it's grown in size, it's also become a hub for FGC drama discussion, and I think that's why it bothers some people.

i like r/kappa cause a lot of high profile fgc members post there, and all the funny fgc related content is usually posted there so i don't have to keep track of it.

plus it's part of the illuminati.

You'll find the people who hate r/kapparino are the ones who get shit on the most. Jaxel, Marn, Fchamp, Triforce, etc. They've all done really stupid things and got ripped on for it, so of course they aren't going to support it. People like Mr Wizard have out right said they wished rkappa would be shot into the sun, which I find funny because the canon's have posted there... But some people don't want an "Anything goes" style place for the FGC, i guess. To my knowledge nobody has ever been banned from r/Kappa.

But jaxel is just insane and has burned so many bridges in the FGC that he was lucky to even get a streaming gig at VxG.

Shimo has a command dash with 4 followups and an air special move good at throwing off parries.

Hina is a charge character (the only one in the game so far).

As far as "flow", the game feels like 90% 3rd Strike but a tiny bit faster. The game speed is similar to KOF and characters have access to half-life combos with the right scenarios. Also, all characters have the same health.
