Dandy 16
Some good ol' Yuasa fun. First half was a bit slow and static, but the 2nd half picked up wonderfully and was a delight.

Special mention to the first appearance of Shinya Ohira in a TV episode since Windy Tales (2004)! I'm sure everyone who watched the episode knows what part he did, and boy was it amazing.

That certainly was something.

Have you ever watched anything Yuasa has directed before? (Not to mentioned some of the objectively excellent sequences in the episode)
Were you looking at Dandy's body at all in any of those scenes? Like just before he was cut in half or when they were back on the ship and he was laying down on the couch?

Don't use Yuasa as an excuse for Dandy's AWFUL proportions during those scenes.

The problem is that G Gundam takes itself seriously and try's to tell a "serious" story. TTGL from the start established it was dumb fun. Even if this show was going for it the first 12 episodes aren't fun.

Interesting. Again I say the show has a problem with what it's trying to do. It's self serious in almost everything it does.

I can't tell if you're trying too hard, or if you're not trying hard enough, but this isn't nearly as hard as you're making it.

G Gundam is serious about it's characters. Just like Gurren Lagann is. Gurren Lagann isn't just dumb fun. If it was there wouldn't be all that time spent on Simon's character. Kinda like how G Gundam spends time on Domon's. There's a larger plan behind the dumb fun, just as there is with G Gundam.

You shouldn't need this explained to you.

Well since the OT is no longer safe I guess I'll post this here.

SAO II 3

This episode served to setup Shino's background/why she's in Gun Gale Online. A number of scenes in the beginning confused me at first,
like the part where the bully pointed her finger at Shino and the later part with the pistol in the drawer
but they were cleared up by the end. The only real thing I was left wondering about towards the end is
where her mother went to since she was only present in the flashback. It looked as though she were horrified that Shino saved her life (by blowing that guy away with his own gun) but given the circumstances it wouldn't make much sense to me if her mother were to intentionally avoid her as a result. Perhaps the way Shino dispatched the robber might have triggered something but we'll have to see.
I'm assuming that will be covered in future episodes.

So it looks like for the next episode we have
Kirito making his GGO debut.

Mahouka 16

This episode was certainly an improvement over the last month's episodes. We finally get to see Tatsuya and Masaki face off. There was some nice animation including Tatsuya flipping around and doing matrix stuff (posted above). I was expecting
Masaki and George to put up more of a fight however.
I was also confused about the motorcycle bit at the end. Mikihiko's behaviour suggested he was either the person behind Leo or the one who hit him with the motorcycle but I don't remember ever seeing him ride one.

That was deliberate.

I don't even have to watch this Space Dandy episode to tell you that unrealistic, elongated, expressionistic body proportions are a trademark of Maasaki Yuasa.

Yama no Susume 1-12

I'd gotten part of the way through it before, but it's short enough that I thought I might as well watch the whole thing from start to finish.

An hour later, I'm immensely satisfied. It's a startlingly efficient show. Each episode tends to set out some basic premise or subject in the first twenty seconds, and we see a solution to it by the time three minutes are up. Not only that, it manages to build a relaxed slice-of-life atmosphere without feeling rushed. Like a good manga, it knows how to insert empty spaces that cause time to flow quickly. The overall effect is rather magical.

This series is about as much an ad for a manga as you could get, except they really brought it to life. I like Aoi's growth over the course of the series, the beautiful trees and mountains, and all the little cooking recipes and stuff that show up. It's a good reminder of all the great, fun adventures you can have if you're willing to take that first step into the unknown.

I can't wait to watch more of it this season!

When Sword Art Online III comes out in 2016 you'll find yourself starting to like it instead. And you'll be horrified, and no one will be able to help you snap out of it. :(
Wait, there's more of this shit? :p
When does it just merge with Accel World? lol

Careful.

You might end up liking it.
I don't see how that's possible unless the changed the premise, the characters, the plot, and the direction. Oh wait, I'm literally describing the experience of watching an entirely different show. :p

Glad you caught up with it!

You should explain the susume thing. lol

G Gundams problem is that it has boring, one note characters on top of boring fights barring the most recent episode I watched. Chill out. I am still working my way through it.

I don't need it explained.

This show feels like it shouldn't be as funny as it is, and yet I was entertained throughout. The standoff at the end was pretty great. It really is gleefully stupid, but it being self aware of that makes it pretty funny. Narrator is still my man!

The most I've ever spent is $200 on a numbered Cowboy Bebop perfect sessions.

Mine was TTGL BD Box for $550. So worth every penny too. I was ready to shell out just as much for CCS BDs, but thankful they're only about $180.

Yamato 2199, KLK, and Bake/Nise will likely value a lot too that if I consolidate all my purchases/future purchases.

So we are on Episode 16 of Mahouka which is still currently in Volume 4 of the LN. And there are 12 volumes out and the 13th is being released soon.

2nd Season please.

I was this way once but with a different show, a show I rated a 4 on MAL after I first watched it. I've since bumped it up a few times as I slowly realized the error of my ways. It grew on me ways I thought unimaginable and realized how dismissive I was of the work that was put into it. What show you ask?

Infinite Stratos

(I think it's at a 7 or 8 rating now.)

Wow, that was an amazing episode. I wasn't expecting that. Exploring the former group members and the President was really interesting and discovering their dreams when they were young made for a really bittersweet ending. The writing has been really satisfying so far.

The fight in this episode was so subpar. Why is the fight choreography such a step down from Star Driver? Why?

Distinct lack of faces this time which made me pretty sad, best couple ever since they seriously had a mountain of fried chicken instead of a wedding cake. I was expecting a Cure Fortune attack since she was fighting with everyone else but I guess not, it's taking her a little too long to formally join everyone else, but based on the preview it seems like that's coming to an end fairly soon since they're going to make a serious play for her next time. Also the monster this week was in a wedding dress, because why not.

School Days 1

My God. What have I stumbled upon?

The MC got farther in one episode than most MC's do in an entire season. Go dude go!

Good work! This is the best anime I've seen so far! You'll grow to love Makoto for he is the example that all of us should follow when it comes to dating women. Never before have I seen such a shining example of respect and responsibility. You are my idol Makoto and you will never let me down!

Watchbets are a handy thing when you've got something you feel needs more attention from others though. For instance, I will watchbet somebody for Pupipo!, since there doesn't seem to be any other way to get people to watch it anyway.

Yeah, I've been enjoying this show as well. All the characters are crazy, even (especially?) the main character.

I've been meaning to finish that show but recently, I 've just been having difficulty staying caught up on the current season

Example: I made Mike watch all of Elfen Leid and in return I have to watch all of School Days. It's an amazing experience and should be shared with all!!!!!

oh man, something like that would probably make me really sad since i'd recommend a show really important to me and they inevitably wouldn't like it :(

Space Dandy 16
This show is at its best when it adheres to the philosophy Dandy pushes. This episode wasn't constantly elbowing you with jokes, or having Dandy bumbling around tripping over himself, or creating "wacky" situations. It just settled into its own brand of oddity and went with the flow.
