I was asleep when you had this discussion, but what about
Lawrence? His story is he was able to see Faith's beauty even when she hid it, so wouldn't he be able to recognize her through a glamour? Yet during the trial, he didn't react at all when she showed up.

I came to the same conclusions you did,
because Lawrence was dead in my playthrough
, but still.

Another reason the theory I posted makes more sense :p

What happened with Shadownet? Why does he want to leave?
Hope you didn't hurt my bro's feelings you jerks

Just some backlash regarding how the thread goes too far off-topic for some.

Too long! I am assuming direct control.

First person to MS Paint a KAWAII UGUU carton of OJ gets a copy of 100% Orange Juice gifted to them.

Holy shit the pages after that page are just mainly cringe worthy posts, and I'm not talking about the contest's entries, those were sort of okay because it was a contest to win a game, but we should never have MSPaint contests ever again. I've obviously lost faith in a lot of good posters as of right now, on both sides of this argument. Tellaerin has the right idea though.

Well, I can't not quote this :p

I finished Claire. Here's some impressions I had.

header_292x136.jpg

.....
I might be a bit gushy, but that's because Claire surpassed my expectations and has stood better than most of the other recent horror game releases on Steam I have played. It's a quality horror title for lovers of old-school styled horror with a bit of something new, or those who have come to enjoy 2D horror games like Lone Survivor or Clock Tower. It's rough around the edges, but has the heart, good execution, and cleverness to pull off what it strives to be, and excel at it, despite the few flaws it has.

A bit slow, sometimes confusing, and I would not recommend going through it blind on Nightmare difficulty like I did, but a fantastic horror game that brings a lot in from the Silent Hill and Clock Tower class of horror, while also being its own thing that will be worth it for any genre enthusiast. But maybe wait to play through it once some of the bugs are ironed out.

Everyone that hasn't seen this post should probably go read it. Because Claire sounds pretty amazing. It's also worth going through the few pages after it to read up on more information about Claire. Especially that art post.

The ModBot stuff isn't much of an issue now, I feel. Giveaway-related posts have dropped quite a lot since Stump made PMTHANKS a default rule and the gift-begging that was rampant when nbnt was gifting stuff left and right has subsided entirely.

The PMTHANKS rule becoming default has turned out to be one of the best things that has ever happened to ModBot. I think the only other time that posts were really getting tiresome of reading for me was when a lot of the thread's posts were the overload "omg becky look at that giveaway" and the inevitable begging posts the resulted from it. It's fine to post that stuff every once in a while, but there was a point where it got bad.

confession time?
I never had a tablet and never felt any need of one and I like gadgets, well... useful ones, at least.

I've never really felt the need to have a true tablet. Closest I've ever gotten is an iTouch and the WiiU's controller :p

I'm hooked on 100% Orange Juice now. I still don't quite know what I'm doing, but I think I'm getting the hang of it now. Like Long Live The Queen, it didn't seem like my kind of game, but I ended up really liking both.

I really should put more time into 100% OJ. I liked the two hours or so I've put into it, but I just haven't felt like playing it for a while. X-Com sucking up most of my gaming time the last two days hasn't helped the situation.

Holy shit, I need it. I don't really know why but I do.

Where the hell is DD2 though.

I get emails about DD2 progress all the time; they have some kind of newsletter if you're interested. They make blog posts full of explanations and gifs of cool new mechanics. I'm concerned about the F2P nature of it still, though.

"Fading Lights" is such a beautiful swansong for Phil's era with the band despite the fact that the lyrics were written by Tony, hah. I prefer to speculate that they somehow knew Phil wouldn't be back for another album.

It's a shame that militant prog-heads look down upon latter-era Genesis, though I concede the band is almost completely different (in a musical sense) from their 70's incarnation. And while they do have some lesser "pure pop" songs... well, at least they still have some very nice epics to compensate for that!
Hey, I think exactly the same! Both regarding that song and my opinion on their latter stuff. Though I admit I really like their pop stuff, and Collins' solo career too. I can enjoy both prog rock mammoths like "Supper's ready", "Firth of fifth" or "Mad man Moon" and pop jewels like "Misunderstanding", "Like it or not" or "Throwing it all away". Plus the newer prog tracks, such as "Home by the sea" / "Second home by the sea" or "Domino".

Basically anything that's not part of Nursery Cryme (sans "Seven stones") or The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (I do like "Counting out time").

I tried skimming through the last couple of pages, can't see any drama directly related to Shadownet, barely any drama at all

At least they scrapped their initial plan of making it a MOBA...

I know they're still working on it but they're taking their sweet time!

Batman Arkham Origins 6,99 too, Blackgate 4,99.

We really shouldn't be mentioning sales on Blackgate.
That's just mean.

I finished Claire. Here's some impressions I had.

I had problems getting into it when I played... partially because not a lot is explained.
Which reminds me, I sent you a Steam message asking a question about the game and you never responded. :(

Well, the
Nerissa = Nerissa
part of your theory makes sense, but I don't think
she deliberately picked a fight with the Woodsman
. And
Lawrence being alive
doesn't completely invalidate the
Nerissa = Faith
theory because it's just as likely that
Telltale didn't really plan on having Lawrence be part of the story, which is why he barely even says anything during the trial.

Random personal truth: My buddies and I met a couple from Australia while getting our Las Vegas on and damn, some of the nicest people I have ever randomly started talking to! Learned that Foster beer is some bullshit and what a bogan was, so you are all good, my friend! :D

I'm more of a spirits man myself. Gun to my head I'd say I prefer rum the most but, really, I drink anything and everything.

Hmm, expected Walking Dead E4 by now =/

If you can't get past the awful map, I don't think it's that bad, I was happy with the £6 I paid for it.

It's pretty bad. I'm so glad I never caved and bought the Vita version when it was hovering around $20. It's somewhere in the range of "Strider" for me...

I actually liked Dead Rising 1 and 3, but wasn't crazy about the 2s.

I think DR 3 is a pretty different game than DR1. The structure feels very different.

DR2 was way too samey without doing enough to make it feel fresh, and I felt that it lost some of the quirky tone from the first one. Maybe I would have liked it more if I hadn't played 1 before it, though.

I definitely felt the same way about 2. Though I did like off the record more so than 2 itself. Haven't played much of 3 yet but I was enjoying the changes made to the game.
Though DR2 was basically made as its own game for those who missed out on 1 and I guess it works in that way. Since those are the people who usually enjoy it more.

Woke up and it appears Japanese childrens cartoon Gaf has left, good. Time to play some games.

Whelp, American children's cartoon GAF has woken up. Time to bail out.
:p

I only skimmed the last ten pages or so, but:

People: "We're going off-topic too much and need to rein it in."
Shadownet: "Okay I'll leave."

Or something.

There was a bit more to it than that. A number of the accusations were directed at Shadownet personally. I'm not saying people weren't justified in being upset with him, just that it wasn't exactly a reach for him to take it personally.

Also, there was a lot of talk about how the "new people" were the cause of the problems in this thread and how much better it was before, which naturally upset a lot of people.

I hope Shadownet comes back, and I hope we can find a decent compromise for keeping this thread fun without getting too weird, but also not being exclusionary towards newcomers (like myself).

Oh, they had even started work on the MOBA? I thought they didn't get that far. That sucks for them, but then again, that was a really stupid idea. Who wants a sequel to be a completely different genre?

"Because it wouldn't be an indie platformer without a little pixel art."
That karting game, Zero Gear, has a slider in the options called "indieness". It pixelates the screen to various degrees.

That was the only good thing about that game.

So, Halfway is out. The game looks pretty cool. Anyone here tried it yet? I wanna read impressions before jumping in.

Well I finally passed out for a bit, woke up and see all of this.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I think its time that I leave SteamGAF.

Whoa, there. I'm sure no one here wants you to leave. I checked the last few pages and didn't see anyone particularly angry at you. Is this about those waifu backgrounds people were talking about last night? If so, people are being too sensitive, and Steam backgrounds certainly falls within Steam discussion.

I was in the beta for that MOBA and played it at PAX East and got item codes for it and everything. Seemed like it was pretty far along.

I honestly don't know how Trendy stays in business. They spend a ton promotion and events.

I guess the whales playing the grindiest game ever, Dungeon Defenders, have deep pockets.

I agree that the common off topic derails that happen once in a while in this thread since the summer sale ended is most annoying thing ever. However, I don't think Shadownet is part of the problem, he may join in some times but there are other members that always go overboard with posting waifu images, nsfw stuff etc.

yeah, they have ... they were even showing playable demos to people ... I think you can still find some videos on youtube .... it looked like they were pretty far into the production on that one

oh wow ... now that's AWESOME!!! :)
Man I keep forgetting that I should actually play Dungeon Defenders vanilla, since I bought it at launch three years ago but only put 15 mins into it total (it didn't really compare favorably to Orcs Must Die! at the time).

I remember something about the third person camera view making me feel sick. Also, was this game playable solo?

I'll take responsibility in posting the waifu backgrounds I really hope i didn't cause any unrest or bitterness towards each other. I was just looking for backgrounds for steam and was asked to post them back here, but shadownet shouldn't leave. Lets just get back on the topic of gaming and keep it together. On that note I haven't played OlliOlli on my vita yet but I may pick it up on steam is it really worth it?

Started playing Cave Story+ as persuaded by Steam Roulette. Can someone confirm easy difficulty really is as cakewalk as the early game suggests? Thinking about going with the original difficulty now. It seems that the biggest challenge in the game is the sudden deaths rather than regular enemies at this stage. Anyway it seems like a nice game and I'm glad I'm getting around to play it now.

Yeah and Wii U Pro Controller is just so lovely with this game too. My favorite controller by far.

Like others said definitely play original. It's not too challenging. I made the mistake of ignoring the warning when you pick hard(because such warnings are almost always bullshit) and had to restart after butting my head against the game for a few hours. The difference was huge.

I actually preferred Pixel's newest game Kero Blaster. Hopefully it'll come to Steam soon.

Well, anyone who joins in is part of the problem, but that doesn't mean anyone (or all of us) should leave. We just need to practice discretion and know when to take it to another thread/not be so insular/not treat this like a chatroom.

That game does look sick it looks kinda like it plays like shadowrun but with a different art style and a few different mechanics, I may have to check that out too

No, I wouldn't bother, because they radically changed the core structure/gameplay of DR3 to appeal to what one might call the Bro/Halo/CoD type of gamer in an attempt to sell to a wider audience, especially with it being a console exclusive launch title on the BroboxOne. So if you play DR2 or DR2:OTR (I'd recommend DR2 because I hate DR2 Frank West), you'll be experiencing something that might resemble what DR3 plays like, but you might be turned off by the save system or the time management aspects which I believe were basically torn out of DR3 unless you play on "Ultra Death Hyper Hardcore" mode [which I'm still skeptical is anything like DR or DR2].

I'd say watch some DR3 gameplay videos somewhere. If fighting hordes of zombies in all sorts of over the top ways appeals to you, you'll probably like it. Just get it from a trader while it's still $23 or less before a potential region lock.

Thanks for the responses guys! I caved and went ahead and got it anyways. Smashing hordes of zombies had too much of a draw for me to resist!

I take it from this screenshot that Valve has disallowed the listing of cards if the app is in an unreleased state. I remember there being a bit of a ruckus semi-recently over reports that some developers were selling cards ahead of the release of their games in hope of attracting badge collectors (whom I like to call "badgers") and thus higher sale prices.
