'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Thanks for the reactions, guys. Guess I'm buying Destiny here in Europe. I don't want to hassle around with different PS accounts.

The Last of Us won't be an issue, since I don't expect any DLC in the future. I'll be fine with my NA version.
They did recently announce that there will be more MP DLC.

I wonder if locking the game at 30 FPS will yield any sort of IQ improvements? It would be really nice to see one more pass through of a higher quality AA.

Well if this does indeed drop under 60 you will get no screen tearing or judder with the 30FPS cap. That is an IQ improvement.

Fuck the OT.

Just slap the title on this thread and we'll keep that plane flying!

It can't be for nothing!

It will be posted in the next 6 days. I am a NeoGAF insider.

really thought it was good....especially the (mild gameplay spoilers)
infected vs humans during encounters

I thought the concept was great but the areas it was used in seemed to waste it.

Potential DLC spoilers:

In both cases the human vs infected battles happen in reasonably large spaces where in the case of the second encounter you are already engaged in a fight.

Essentially I ended up hiding in a corner to lose any interest either side had in me, lobbed a bottle/brick as far as possible (downstairs in the second encounter) and waited for the carnage to end. Though it made these sections really easy it didn't feel like an engaging gameplay mechanic the way it was presented.

It could have been used much better in at least one other already existing scene.

Potential main game and DLC spoilers:

In the main game there is a section where you have to sneak past a spot light set up so some humans guarding a gate can have some sport shooting the infected. Once you had snuck past you then had to take out the very same humans. Because of the layout of the corridor scene your choices are pretty limited. With only a couple of additions (and the new human vs infected gameplay mechanism) this could have been one of the best rather than one of the worst parts of the game.

Imagine sneaking past the spotlight to a movable barrier, one of the big skips that we already move in earlier and later scenes for example, shooting out the spotlight, waiting until our human enemies dismount the wall to come and investigate and then removing the barrier and letting the corralled clickers through.

That would surely have been better than the currently pretty dull pallet/skip/plank moving sections that litter the game.

Pre-ordered the game at retail for €1.99 after I traded in 3 games.

I figured there was no point keeping my PS3 version if this was coming out, I had Dark Souls II on PS3 and then re-bought it on PC and I traded in GTA V from PS3 considering I can just get the PC version later this year

Damn, just saw the first 15 minutes or so of the game and it looks great. Never really saw anything of this game (have a ps3 but only use it for netflix currently) but the atmosphere and tension is superb. Really have to get it on the PS3 sometime.

Got our review copy yesterday, but I can't talk about it until Monday I believe. Only got to play for about 20 minutes last night though since I had to edit the podcast.

I wish I could say something about it, so sorry :-(

Playing it all night after work today though!!!!
Hope you get into it this time around. Remember you not finding it is your type of game

When does the official thread go up?

Also, regarding the thread title. We've already got our winner from several day ago. I don't recall who said it, but it was "This can't be for nothing, so it's $50".
