Deadpool Test Footage Leaked

There's not gonna be a real movie. This shit been dead. Will stay that way.

Only way it works is if Fox puts out an X-Force movie that has him in it, and he steals it. That's at least what, 4 or 5 years away? If that? By then this proof-of-concept will be almost 7 years old.

Well duh, I am aware of the status of the Deadpool movie. As far as I am aware the X-Force movie is still being made. They only really started working on it less than a year ago. 4-5 years away is possible, but I think we might see it in 2-3 years if production rolls ahead. Liefeld says that both Cable and Deadpool are to be in it and that would open up a way for the Deadpool movie. So right now the movie isn't completely dead. It's been on and off for like a decade now, but Reynolds and others are still pushing for it. I do think we are closer than we ever have been to getting it made, but really it depends on X-Force.

Edit: And for anyone questioning Fox releasing an R-Rated Marvel movie, "The Wolverine" was originally rated R until Hugh Jackman made them cut it down to a PG-13.

Interview with Liefeld from today about the Deadpool short

Probably the most interesting to come of it...

Rob Liefeld: Any technical questions would best be answered by the talented Mr. Tim Miller who directed the entire sequence. As for the entire existence of this footage, remember that it is appropriately referred to as "test" footage for a reason. Fox had released a relatively small budget for Tim to present his vision of the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Tim is a master of the short film format, his Star Wars shorts and trailers for their video games are outstanding. Tim's Blur Studios is an amazing outfit, home to over 70 artists under his direction, it's Southern California's own Industrial Light and Magic.

The digital costume over Ryan Reynold's motion capture (Mo-Cap) performance was an approach they wanted to explore and they had a relatively small window to create this short so they opted to "test" the look of a digital Deadpool costume over Ryan. I'm quite pleased at how it turned out, especially considering Baraka-Deadpool from Wolverine Origins.

I'd also like to note that this was filmed 3 years ago this summer and that Tim and his crew have upped their game considerably beyond what you see here. Tim is an uncredited director on the pre-credit sequence for Thor: The Dark World, the sequence that introduces Maleketh and the battle against Odin's Father, that whole sequence is stunning and was created on short notice. I can only imagine how amazing Deadpool would look 3 years later with all of Tim's advancements as a director.

The part where Deadpool starts singing after he gets his face bashed into the stick shift fucking slays me every time.

Edit: HOLY FUCK I just looked up the lyrics he sings, it's "Damn, I wish I was your lover" and I had no idea, holy shit that puts it on a whole other level. Shouting "DAMN!" after getting elbowed repeatedly in the head and turning it into that song oh my god I'm dying.

I know a lot of people are concerned about this but the script is out there, read it for yourself. It's magnificent.

The Bonnie Tyler song at the beginning is also nothing short from brilliant!

So... this movie's being made, right?

Nope. It's not. But it damn well should be. I figure if Guardians of the Galaxy does well, Fox might understand that not all comic-book movies have to be serious and teeth-grinding gritty in order to succeed. Once in a while, you can take an IP that you own and go completely fucking apeshit with it.

That was really good actually. He was a travesty in X-men origins but I've always thought Reynolds could pull off a decent deadpool. If the film does get made I want Brian Poeshn and Gerry Duggan to write it. I have LOVED their run on deadpool.

and where did you hear that?
Jackman made them cut the movie down to PG-13?

Well I remembered it wrong, but they were open to the idea of an R-Rated movie.

I'll give you Snakes on a Plane, but the marketing for Scott Pilgrim was fucking abysmal.

True. But the internet hype for it was huge.

I just don't see Fox greenlighting an R-rated Deadpool movie. Let alone another Ryan Reynolds flick.

People might like him, but when you have a string of box office failures tied to your name (whether or not it was your fault), it's unlikely that they will put you in a lead of a major film or risky property.

That's just how Hollywood works.

Dudes trying to be leading men (again) that have many or all solo projects fail to meet box office expectations/pull in an audience:
Ryan Reynolds
Taylor Kitsch
Chris Pine
Sam Worthington
Alex Pettyfer
Colin Farrell
Robert Pattinson
Benedict Cumberbatch
Taylor Lautner

if Hercules and San Andreas fail, expect to see Dwayne Johnson added to that list

This site is claiming the complete test footage is 8 minutes long and this is just part of it. Not sure what their source is on that but if true, I really hope we get to see the rest some day (or just make the damn movie already because come on).

That was absolutely brilliant.

And the IP has to be owned by FOX. The dream is practically dead before it comes alive. The chance of them making something good out of it is so non-existent Wonder Woman has a chance of getting a movie before that happens.

I'd love to see the leaked script become a reality, but I really don't think that'll ever happen. Even so, it's a good time to be a Deadpool fan. Posehn and Duggan are killing it. I'm happy with what we got.

That was awesome. A friend just whatsapped me the link (she know's I'm a DP lover) and I totally lost my shit.

Fox need to pull their heads out their arses and do this. Just like in the test footage.

I love Deadpool and I think for the fans, a rated R movie would be great(I would never see it because I can't handle gore) but being realistic, the only way this movie does really well is if they cut the gore. I personally don't think it's necessary but It's Deadpool so fans are going to want it.

If they could get away with crude dialogue and still keep enough action and a PG13 or 14A rating then I think the movie would sell amazingly.

... So right now the movie isn't completely dead. It's been on and off for like a decade now,.

See, the top sentence is contradicted by the bottom sentence.

The movie is dead. That's why anyone's even seeing this. It's been dead. That clip is three years old, and in those three years, Fox has made two different X-Men movies. They're not concerned with Deadpool. It hasn't been "on and off" it's been off. If Wolverine Origins had made money and not been shithouse, maybe it would have stayed on. But it's been dead since then, and as I said (and you just agreed with) if X-Force gets made AND takes off AND Deadpool steals the whole movie - MAYBE we get a Deadpool movie. But probably not this one. Probably something completely different, written by different people, directed by a different director, probably starring whoever they cast in X-Force, who probably won't be Ryan Reynolds.

This thing that we're watching? It's the last home video of a guy who died years ago.

No it doesn't. They are still working in getting the movie made. Why would they can everything that they have already worked on just because of an X-Force movie? They already have a script, director, and lead. We heard about the production of the movie in October of last year, when Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds said the movie was being close to being green-lit.

Also X-Force isn't the only way for the Deadpool movie to be real, I was just saying that is one way it could pave the way for a Deadpool movie. From the sound of your posts it seems like you don't know a lot about the production of the movie other than it isn't being filmed.

Also that test footage would likely have not been seen by us even if the film got made. Maybe as a special feature? It wasn't meant for us. Unless the Deadpool movie gets a new director, lead, and script that footage is still relevant to the Deadpool movie, X-Force or not.

Feels a lot like this...

There are tons of movies at any studio that pick up a script, director and lead, and then never go anywhere. That's development hell.

Finally made time to check this out, and I didn't expect it to be R-rated.

Pleasantly surprised with it, too bad it'll never see the light of day unfortunately.

No, they aren't. Nothing's been worked on since that test reel. It's been dead for three years.

There's nothing to can. It's already canned.

There is no present-tense when discussing anything having to do with that reel, man. It's all past-tense.

Except it isn't canned. It is still in development. No, they are not filming anything yet, clearly. But the director and lead are still trying to get the movie green-lit, due to Fox being hesitant about making Deadpool R-rated. If they kept it at PG-13 I am guessing it would have been green-lit by now. That is pretty much why we are at a standstill, not to mention all the other X-Men movies that are competition. The director, writers, lead, and even an X-Men movie series producer have talked about getting the movie made and how it will be done. If the X-Men producer is talking about it like it is still a possibility, then it is. That was only 4-5 months ago.

Sometimes these things take awhile, especially riskier movies like Deadpool. Will it be the same film? Hard to say, they may have to give in to some of Fox's demands. But everyone is really happy with the Zombieland duo's script. A lot of movies go into development hell because of the script, but this doesn't seem to be the case for the Deadpool movie. It wouldn't be the first film to get out of development hell either.
