Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare actually coming on Wii U?

CoD Wii U ports are actually fantastic

actual 720p resolution not upscaled sub-hd like on ps3/360, split screen between gamepad/tv so each player has their own screen, wii remote controls are insanely customizable and awesome

shame they sabotage the games by stealth releasing them/releasing them weeks later than the other versions and then never putting out DLC

my wife really loves zombies, we ended up switching from the wii-u version of BO2 to the ps3 version so I could buy the season pass with all the new zombies maps for her.

880x720 resolution =/= native 720p (1280x720)

Getting it day one if true. CoD: Ghosts was very enjoyable on Wii U. I'm sure it will be announced officially during some sort of 3rd Party reel trailer by Nintendo during E3 (fingers crossed)

I could've sworn the Wii U logo image was somewhere in the code of the Advanced Warfare website. The reason for these delayed announcements is because of Nintendo's strict build review format.

more deets? also noting they never show anything either, or confirm in dev.

Advanced Warfighter seems pretty likely to get a Wii U release. What I would more wonder about would be next year's and the year's after, especially if Activision pulls an Ubisoft and does a "last-gen" CoD and a "next-gen" CoD.

They're already doing it with High Moon Studios working on PS3/360 ports and Sledgehammer working on the PC/XB1/PS4 ports.

Edit: I see you mean 'different' games.

That I don't know, but considering Treyarch is most likely making the next CoD, I think the Wii U version is probably safe for 2015.

2016 is probably sacked though.

By 2016 Nintendo is likely thinking new console anyway.

That's good, is incorrect to assume the Nintendo owners are against COD fun. It was popular on Wii and they got this

As someone who played World at War, Modern Warfare Reflex Edition, Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 all on the Wii I can say the ports were always really well done and a lot of fun. World at War especially really pushed the system and I put about 100 hours into the multi.

Modern Warfare 2 I ended up playing on PC. Really well optimized and one of the best in the series. I also ended up playing CoD 2 and MW on the PC as well. Haven't played 1 or 3.

I have both Ghosts and Black Ops 2 on WiiU and would definitely buy Advanced Warfare for the system.

The decisions don't, afaik, ultimately lay with Treyarch regardless of their fondness and experience with Nintendo's platforms. For more COD to appear on the platform, more COD needs to sell on the platform.

Activision pretended the WiiU edition of Ghost didn't exist for the longest time, still launched at the same time as the other versions. Probably be the same deal for this one.

Since they're still coming then it might be a case of more CODs coming to Wii U only means COD needs to continue it's current sales level. We just don't know, perhaps ~200k or whatever is all Activision really needs.

Treyarch also did Big Red One on GC, PS2, and Xbox, which I think was their first ever COD.

I get confused whether Exakt Entertainment is part of Treyarch or not, since they did the Wii versions of COD3 and W@W. They also preceded Treyarch themselves with COD Finest Hour on GC, a port of the PS2 and Xbox game by Spark Unlimited (Spark existed in 2004?).

Edit: Technically COD: United Offensive is Treyarch's first, but that was an expansion of the original CPD.

Had some good fun on BO2 and Ghosts on Wii U, never had a problem finding a game on TDM or Hardcore TDM. Kill Confirmed on the other hand
... :(

That's a great news for Wii U owner who wants to play COD. But I don't think there are many people who wants to play COD on Wii U.

That answer should be everyone. It seems that the pro controller was built for cod. Only problem is the online user base. current chief up I'm my living room is ps3ps4 and wiiu I own my recent cod games on wiiu. Give it a try gaf. It's fun.

I actually prefer the online community for COD on Wii U. Far fewer kids screaming obscenities into the mic.

Seemingly a playerbase that skews a bit older from the games I've gotten in to. (Also a pretty size able Japanese community.)

umm all the WiiU COD games have been great ports

Indeed. I'd even go as far as saying the Wii ports were pretty good considering what is actually going on in the game. Treyarch did a damn good job with them. Treyarch has a team that knows Nintendo hardware pretty damn well, from the GameCube days to now.

Edit: As for the new game I'm not counting on it. If it happens it happens and I'll buy it. I love pointer controls for FPS. However I'm not going to be looking forward to a Wii U version all the same. That way I won't be disappointed when it doesn't show up.

It should do better than both BLOPS 2 and Ghosts on Wii U, simply because by November Wii U has had MK8 released for some time, and Smash coming, so the console theoretically should be more active on the marketplace resulting in better CoD sales.

By that type of logic, people expected Ghosts to exceed BO2 in population. Didn't really pan out that way. Though Ghosts was an inferior game in several important ways, so who knows.

True, though if Treyarch says "we can absorb the Wii U version pretty insignificant cost/overhead" they may get the go ahead.

Yeah, the base does seem to skew older on Wii U oddly (anecdotally at least). Definitely a better experience than I've had on live or PSN (limited as those experiences may be).

At the OP's source they seem to have changed platform listing.

Aaaand I guess we're done here (for now). Though I think the same thing happened last year... the E3 site opened with Wii U listed, somebody called attention to it, then it got removed (could be thinking of another game though; but I think it was Ghosts). Possibly had to remove it because it's not "officially announced" yet.

I guess the jury is still out, and probably will be until at least July, maybe later. If they're asked about it at E3 I expect the usual evasive nonsense.

Ghosts sold worse across the board than BO2 because it's a bad game. And no Wii U game released in 2013 was anywhere near MK8 or Smash Bros tier.

I guess even looking at the possibility of just an eshop only release to further reduce cost is out of the question as Black Ops 2 and Ghosts still aren't on the eShop when they can be bought on PSN, Steam, and Xbox Live.

I don't disagree. Regardless I hope this comes to Wii U, because if nothing else, I don't want to see the pointer controlled FPS subgenre completely die quite yet.

If it ends on Wii U...it might not be announced at E3. The Wii/Wii U games were always announced months after E3 and aside a "yeah it's coming"; no pictures, videos or even controller details were announced.

Hopefully things will be different.

They did confirm wii remote support for Ghosts right after the game's Wii U existence was confirmed. But not much else.

I never understood what the deal with that was. And if they do it again: why? Who does that benefit?

BO2 was confirmed for Wii U on September 13th, 2012.

Ghosts was confirmed for Wii U on July 25th, 2013.

I guess we just wait. Unless Activision themselves explicitly says at some point that it's definitely not coming.

This is just how activision does COD for Wii U. Remember Ghosts? They didn't reveal the Wii U version until much closer to release. Same with blops 2 I believe.

Pretty much a done deal at this point, activision really sucks at hiding these
I really don't understand how these late stealth announcements benefit anyone at all. How many sales would they really poach from the other versions if they gave Wii U equal billing (or at least a damn mention or bullet point on a slide). And even if it did poach a few, they still get their money. And that's before even considering the (admittedly small) number of extra sales they'd gain from those who wouldn't buy any other version if they didn't pretend it doesn't exist.

They know that Wii U guys aren't going to get the best experience due to few updates and no new content, so why even bother promoting it? Seems like a waste of time considering they never TRY to serve the Nintendo crowd the same way they serve everyone else.

More like Late September/October where all the other ones were revealed
Ghosts was announced via Nintendo's twitter July 25th 2013. So who knows.

Not just lack of promotion... I mean not even acknowledging it's existence... who could that possibly benefit.

I didn't see it mentioned, but the E3 Insider mention in the OP was actually a mistake by Ryan Scott. He mentioned it on an episode of The Geek Box back around e3.

Ryan heads up E3 Insider and said that he was doing a copy and paste from last year's listing and made a mistake.

I don't see why not since the Wii U is supposedly just as strong as PS3 and x360. So if they're getting something then it's safe to expect it on Wii U.

Not really. The porting budget has to be worth how many sales they think they'll make on it, with a large margin of safety.

Well if it's really coming along it will be good for the Wii U install base. I just don't understand the need to hide this info if true.
